It’s Official, The Jaguar F-Type Coupe Is One Handsome Devil

Forget every cigar and brandy related thing that you know about Jaguar, this is a brand that is now more road course than golf course. This is the latest fast Jaaag, the F-Type Coupe, and we think you’ll agree that it is one gorgeous thing. It’s so gorgeous in fact that you’d take it on a date to the classiest, most expensive damn restaurant in town, then eat gelato by the beach and talk about the starry night and the universe….well, if you could date a car, which of course you can’t, you weirdo.

Moving on… Adding a full hardtop to the F-Type has exaggerated the width of the car even more. The big rear haunches also give the car a stance that some might call ‘purposeful’, but we’ll call it just plain sexy.

All of the hardware has been carried over unchanged from convertible to coupe so the same range of fantastic sounding engines will be available. Those engines do however pack more power than in the convertible version. The base V6 now produces 340hp (up from 335) and sprints from zero to 60mph in 5.1 seconds. The V6 S outputs 380hp (up from 375) and completes the 0-60mph sprint in 4.8 seconds . And the big daddy supercharged V8 F-Type R sends a massive 550hp (up from 495) through the rear wheels and sprints from 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds – mmm we’ll have one of those please. All models use the same eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Naturally this latest hard topped version of the F-Type is stiffer than the convertible car, benefiting from an increase in torsional rigidity. The springs and dampers have also been tweaked accordingly – spring rates are up 4.3 percent at the front and 3.7 percent at the rear of the V8 F-Type R. Despite the extra metal the coupe is also around 20kgs lighter than the convertible. Carbon ceramic brakes which reduce weight even further are also now an option. Oh and unlike the F-Type convertible this car actually has a usable boot…

All in all, it means that the F-Type should now be even better to drive and easier to live with than before. But who cares about all that geeky stuff when the car looks this damn good!?
