Plane Makes A ‘Miracle’ Emergency Landing On New York Highway (VIDEO)
A small plane makes an emergency landing on a US interstate highway in New York, after engine failure.

No one in the aircraft or on the ground was injured in the incident, after the Piper PA-28 plane suffered engine problems and had to avoid moving traffic as it landed.

The plane was on its way to Connecticut when it came down at 3.20pm on Saturday on the Major Deegan Expressway in The Bronx – a borough of New York.

Pothole workers from the Department of Transportation had reportedly noticed the plane suffering difficulties so stopped traffic and cleared an area for it to land.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) three people were on board including one male pilot and two female passengers.

None of those on board were badly hurt, though all were taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

That nobody was seriously injured or killed during the harrowing ordeal was described as a ‘miracle’ by mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio.

‘We have… an extraordinary situation and actually a bit of a miracle, thank God, that happened today in our city,’ he said, adding that no injuries or deaths was ‘amazing’.

‘I thought I’d seen everything in my life,’ he added.

The FAA said damage to the aircraft was minor and preliminary investigations are underway to determine what went wrong. via
