Michael Schumacher In Stable Condition But What About His Future?
Michael Schumacher is finally in a stable and ‘not critical’ condition, but remains in a medically induced coma following a skiing accident on December 29. But if Schumacher does survive, will he be the same?

Since his accident just after Christmas, updates on Schumacher’s condition have been limited which has caused speculation and rumors surrounding the current situation and the potential future outcomes for the formula 1 legend. These rumors have all come from people and sources that aren’t actually connected to Schumacher’s medical team.

Again, although no word from the doctors, Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm released this statement yesterday”

“Unfortunately, I have to repeat any information regarding Michael’s health not coming from the doctor’s treating him, or his management, must be treated as pure speculation. I also repeat Michael’s family is very happy and confident with the work of the team of doctors treating Michael, and they trust them completely. Michael’s condition is still considered stable,”

This information comes a whole ten days since we last heard any official information which led some media outlets to speculate that Schumacher may never emerge from his coma. Richard Greenwood, a consultant neurologist at London’s Homerton Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, though, had a different concern.

“If Schumacher survives he will not be Schumacher. He will be Bloggs,” Greenwood said, using the Britishism for a John Doe to indicate that Schumacher’s personality could be radically different when he wakes.

“His rehabilitation will only be effective if he comes to terms with being Bloggs, and fulfills what Bloggs can do. That’s a very, very difficult process to take people through. They need to come to terms with their limitations – the fact they have changed,” Greenwood said, according to The Daily Telegraph.
