Look at Mazda’s current lineup, and three cars immediately stand out as being slightly less than brand new: the CX-9 crossover, the soon-to-be-replaced MX-5 Miata roadster, and the plucky little 2 hatchback. Now Mazda has announced it’s bringing the zesty-looking Hazumi concept teased above to the 2014 Geneva auto show, and it sure isn’t a crossover or a two-seat roadster. We know this explicitly because Mazda states the show car “expresses the ideal form” of its next-generation subcompact car, a.k.a. the next Mazda 2.
The concept wears Mazda’s latest Kodo design language, which is clear because the image says “Kodo” in the lower right-hand corner. It adopts many of the front and side styling cues of the 10Best-winning Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, as well as the excellent CX-5 crossover. Those are all good-looking cars, so we have to expect that the next 2 will be pretty handsome, as well…
