Porsche is investigating why two of their limited edition cars have burst into flames and have stopped all deliveries of the £100,000 supercar. They’re offering to collect the vehicles that get up to 196 mph for testing, so as to not inconvenience the 100 British owners any further.
This issue with the 911 GT3 comes just weeks after Hammond took one for a test drive and said the sportscar was ‘so good, I had to buy one myself’. It seems that the 911 is not quite as dreamy as Hammond first thought.
A spokesman from Porsche have released a statement: ‘Porsche is informing the owners of the affected vehicles directly and recommending that they stop using their vehicles’.
It’s not the first time that manufacturers have experienced issues with their luxury cars. Similarly, in 2010 Ferrari had to recall around 1,250 of its 458 Italias due to issues with fire.
Let’s hope Hammond gets his Porsche back soon!
