While we’re strict advocates against drinking and driving, we must admit there are times where beer and cars can mix to good effect. Take this Hyundai i20 WRC rally car as an example, which suffered some radiator damage on the final stage at Rally Mexico. As a tweet posted by rally commentator Colin Clark (and published by Jalopnik) shows, Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville used a Corona beer to top off his cooling system after having finished the rally in third place.

The original tweet:

If he had already completed the rally, why did Neuville need to add suds to the Hyundai’s coolant tank? As Autosport points out, he needed to get the car to the post-race service area under its own power to finalize the i20′s first podium finish. So the leak in the radiator plugged, the driver used the beer to replace the lost coolant. The Hyundai made it the rest of the journey, earning Neuville our rarely awarded Quick Thinker of the Week prize, which we think comes with more beer. Or maybe we drank that.
