The maddest and most powerful incarnation of the Lamborghini Aventador supercar gets revealed at the Geneva motor show.
Lamborghini has revealed its maddest bull yet at this week’s Geneva motor show, the new Aventador LP750-4 SV. The SV is designed to be a harder, faster and more track-focused version of the standard 690hp Aventador V12 supercar. It uses the same 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, but revisions to its variable valve timing system and exhaust mean the engine in the SV develops 740hp. That’s enough to slash the standard car’s 0-62mph time from 2.9 seconds to 2.8 seconds and extend the top speed beyond 217mph. The new engine also revs higher, and with a new exhaust system, should sound even naughtier than the stunning ‘ordinary’ Aventador.
The SV uses the same seven-speed automated manual gearbox and all-wheel drive system as the standard Aventador. The supercar’s lightweight carbon fibre monocoque is also used, however thanks to a stripped interior and lightweight body components the Aventador SV weighs around 50kg less than the standard 1575kg car. There’s less sound deadening in the cabin and carbon-backed bucket seats upholstered in a unique carbon-fibre fabric.
The suspension has also been modified to incorporate adaptive dampers which are said to reduce dive under braking and body roll. The SV also features carbon ceramic brakes and new centre-lock alloy wheels measuring 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear. Tyres are extra sticky Pirelli P Zero Corsas.
The SV also gets a manually adjustable rear wing to give extra down force, which is helped by a more aggressive rear diffuser. A new front bumper also features with extra air ducts for improved engine cooling.
