Fast and Furious 7 has become the quickest film in history to generate over $1 billion in revenue.

The latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise has broken box office records, becoming the quickest film ever to generate $1 billion. In the less than three weeks since Fast and Furious 7 hit cinemas globally, the movie has generated around $1.15 billion.

Furious 7 includes the late Paul Walker’s final on-screen appearance and filming for the movie wasn’t not completed before his untimely death. Following the accident, the script for Furious 7 had to be rewritten, and Paul Walker’s brother Cody was used for some scenes as well as a CGI version of Paul.

Despite losing the main character, it’s believed there will be an eighth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise. Co-star Vin Diesel who was very close with Paul Walker has alluded to the fact that there will be more Fast and Furious films. He said “seven was for Paul, eight is from Paul.”
