Chevrolet is just days away from fully revealing its new-generation Camaro muscle car, and these latest teaser images give us an early glimpse of the new model.
Mark your diaries, set your alarms and get you cheque book ready because the new-generation Chevy Camaro muscle car will be revealed later this week on May 16. The new muscle coupe has been developed on the same lightweight chassis architecture as the successful Cadillac CTS and ATS models and rival the 2015 Ford Mustang. The new Camaro will be powered by a range of V6 and V8 engines, which will likely include the 6.2-litre LT1 bent eight from the Corvette Stingray and the supercharged 660hp 6.2-litre V8 from the Z06 and CTS-V. Gearbox options will likely include either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual, both sending power to the rear wheels in typical muscle car fashion.

As this latest batch of teaser images suggest, the new Camaro will retain the old model’s retro muscle styling. However, the new car looks to have taken on a more angular look with a sleeker roof line, though the ‘face’ is unlikely to change from the outgoing model. Chevrolet also look to have addressed the poor outward visibility issue of the old model, with this new Camaro packing more window real-estate than before. The bonnet should also be lower to reduce the car’s centre of gravity and improve handling.

Chevy are making some pretty bold claims about the new Camaro and are unapologetically gunning to better the 2015 Mustang range. With the quickest 2015 Mustang to date being the GT350 which pumps out around 500hp, it wouldn’t be hard at all for Chevrolet to out-grunt that car with a supercharged V8 Camaro. All will be revealed soon…
