Jalopnik reporter becomes the first person to crash the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro during a media event earlier this week.

If your drive cars for long enough, chances are you’re going to crash one eventually. Unfortunately for a Jalopnik journalist that day came during a media event earlier this week while driving the brand new Chevrolet Camaro on a race track. The car he was driving wasn’t even a production-spec car, it was one of Chevy’s prototypes used during the development of the all-new sixth generation muscle car – which kind of makes the story even more unfortunate.

The journalist was driving the V6 automatic Camaro and following the old Z28 track special – which is a massively faster car. It seems the driver was hustling a little too hard trying to keep up with the 7.0-litre V8 Z28 and came into a corner too quickly which caused the car to understeer dramatically into a tyre wall. The suffered panel and wheel damage to its left side, while it’s unknown if any mechanical damage was caused. The driver was unharmed during the incident.

Check out the video below and you’ll see the guy was pretty beat up and genuinely sorry for crashing the car. Inevitably there are going to be people criticising his driving ability, but these things happen even to the best and people make mistakes.
