Here’s your chance to own a piece of Top Gear memorabilia as the E36 BMW M3 driven by Richard Hammond is up for auction.
The E36 BMW M3 once driven by Richard Hammond on Top Gear will be auctioned off next month. The car was used in the Top Gear cheap car super saloon challenge where the boys drove a Ford Sierra Cosworth, a Mercedes 190E Cosworth and this BMW M3 sedan. The challenge included track laps by the Stig, a fuel economy run, fitting an brass band inside the car and perhaps most intriguingly a road safety test…. The test concluded that Hammond’s BMW M3 was the most unroadworthy of the three cars and a bit of a deathtrap. It had been crashed at some point prior to the car being on Top Gear and the test concluded that it had been repaired on the cheap.
So if we’re honest, this probably isn’t the finest example of an E36 BMW M3 sedan on the market. Hopefully it has been properly fixed since it was on Top Gear a few years ago. It at least appears to have been reupholstered in cream leather instead of the toffee yellow the car originally had when it starred on Top Gear.
The car will be auctioned by Classic Car Auctions and is expected to fetch between £7500 to £10,500.
