Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has done his first formal interview since being fired by the BBC for punching a producer.
Jeremy Clarkson appeared on Chris Evans’ breakfast radio show to discuss the upcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May Live tour and of course Top Gear and his future. During the interview Clarkson took full responsibility for ultimately ending Top Gear as we know it, saying “I was very sad, but it was my own silly fault, so I can hardly complain,” regarding the non-renewal of his BBC contract. He went on to say that he would do one last “emotional” lap of the Top Gear track, with the passenger seat being auctioned off for charity raising over £100,000.
As for Clarkson, Hammond and May’s future once the live arena tour is complete, it seems something is brewing in the pipeline. In the interview he said he had been listening to his options but it would be “stupid to just jump into something.” Current signs point towards a show on a TV subscription service like Netflix.
During the interview he also expressed how he enjoyed filming the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live Youtube videos without any BBC intervention.
As for the remaining three unaired Top Gear episodes, Clarkson told Evans that they were currently being edited together but would be presented by “the elephant in the room.” The last three episodes include a cheap 4×4 challenge and a classic car weekend.
