The new 2016 Vauxhall Astra hatch has been revealed ahead of its public debut at September’s 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
The all-new 2016 Vauxhall Astra has been revealed with a new look, new chassis and a range of new engines. It’s pretty rare in the auto industry for a car to be all-new but in this case, the 2016 Vauxhall Astra is the real deal.
The new model adopts the brand’s aggressive grille design also seen on the new Corsa and Adam models. Overall, the design of the new Astra is quite aggressive with sharp lines, a heavily creased bonnet and even blacked-out C-pillars. Careful attention has also been paid to the head and taillights which adopt sleek LED technology, and the headlights even adjust themselves automatically to avoid blinding other motorists while still providing light to the road ahead.

This seventh-generation Astra is also physically smaller than the outgoing model being slightly shorter and lower which help it weigh up to 200kg less than its predecessor. However, Vauxhall claim an increase in interior volume and 35mm of extra leg room over the sixth-gen car. The cluttered centre console design of the old model has also been replaced with a much cleaner dash panel and an eight-inch touch screen display. The multimedia system is also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features.
The new Vauxhall Astra is also available with a range of new petrol and diesel engines. These include a 114hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol and a 143hp 1.6-litre petrol. Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual or automatic.
Production of the new Vauxhall Astra is set to begin in later this year with deliveries commencing towards the end of 2015.
