Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement as lead host of Top Gear has been confirmed to be radio host, Ferrari collector and petrol head Chris Evans.

It’s official, the BBC has confirmed Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement as host of the revived Top Gear to be radio host and petrol head Chris Evans. It has long been rumoured that Evans would replace Clarkson, but the BBC has now gone public with the news. It’s understood that model and self-confessed car enthusiast Jodie Kidd is also being considered for a position on the show, though the replacements for James May and Richard Hammond are yet to be confirmed by the BBC.

Chris Evans hosts a number of radio shows in the UK and is a well known Ferrari collector and owns everything from a 250 California to the F40 and latest LaFerrari.

Following the official news Evans said; “I’m thrilled, Top Gear is my favourite programme of all time. Created by a host of brilliant minds who love cars and understand how to make the massively complicated come across as fun, devil-may-care and effortless. When in fact, of course, it’s anything but and that’s the genius of Top Gear’s global success.”

Top Gear is expected to return to the small screen in 2016, though it will likely have competition like never before with former presenters Clarkson, Hammond and May expected to launch a new Netflix program later this year.
