As usual, Porsche has released pictures of the Black Edition version of the Cayman just months before the facelifted version is released next year.
This, then, is a last throw of the dice for the naturally-aspirated Cayman; the new car will be powered by a turbocharged, 2.0-litre flat-four engine which shares its modular architecture with 3.0 flat-six in the latest 911.
But back to the Porsche Cayman Black Edition. It is powered by the 275bhp, 2.7-litre flat-six engine; the entry-level choice but still a fine motor. Predictably, it wears a coat of deep and glossy black paint and sits on 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels.
Inside, there’s the usual seven-inch touchscreen, MP3 dock, sports mode and Porsche Stability Management. On top of that, the Black Edition gets bi-xenon headlights, satnav with online services, Bluetooth, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, anti-dazzle mirrors, automatic wipers, two-zone climate control, heated seats, upgraded stereo and Sports Design steering wheel.
Add that little lot to the price of a normal Cayman 2.7 and it would add up to rather more than the £5,000 price hike the Black Edition commands. On sale now, it will set you back £45,989.
You even get a complimentary driving day at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.
