BMW tease their new baby M coupe, the M235i, in a video which is mainly about a telephone and a man wearing sunglasses.
The first ever BMW 2 Series is coming! And soon. Despite the fact that we’ve seen the 2 Series uncovered before (see above) and we know pretty much everything there is to know about its engines and performance, price even, thanks to the chaps at BMW South Africa, this car is still rather exciting. It’s one of the most highly anticipated reveals of the year, because, what’s not to like about a rear drive BMW coupe with a big straight six engine?
The model that we’re really interested in is the M235i, because it’s the fastest, and therefore the best, obviously. Essentially it’s a coupe version of the very brilliant M135i. We’ve driven its daddy, the current BMW 135i Coupe and found that to be quite awesome, but the spec sheet suggests it that this M235i will be even better.
The turbocharged 3.0liter straight six in the M235i pumps out 322hp and the car will dash from zero to 62mph in just 4.8 seconds when equipped with the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. That makes it a smidge more powerful (7hp more) and a tenth quicker to 62mph than the M135i hatch on which the M235i is based.
Naturally, it’s not all about straight-line performance, though. Insiders at BMW reckon the new M235i is considerably quicker around the Nurburgring than the awesome full, fat 1M Coupe. Sounds promising.
All will be revealed on Friday October 25th, so stay tuned to Carhoots.com for the full details. In the mean time, watch a man answer a telephone.
