Audi has unleashed some carpornography on the Interwebs, it’s the new Quattro Concept to be unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show!
Mmm we’ve gone all weak kneed and wobbly with this one. Audi’s designers certainly know how to sketch a damn sexy car, don’t they? This, people of the Interwebs, is the Audi Quattro Concept and it is an utterly gorgeous thing.
The Quattro will sit above the R8 in Audi’s model lineup as a sort of tribute to the original Quattro which ruled rally stages when it appeared in 1980.
Of course, we have seen this sort of nostalgia from Audi before. You might remember that in 2010 they showed off an A5 based Quattro Coupe concept at the Paris Motor Show, they even considered putting it into production, but those plans were sadly shelved during 2012.
This new musclier, sexier concept car reignites the Quattro’s flame and will be unveiled at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Like the original 2010 concept this new version is tipped to use an extensively modified A5 chassis with lightweight carbon fiber components throughout.
Beneath the angular, sculptured bonnet will sit the Volkswagen Group’s 4.0liter twin turbo V8 sending something like 600hp through Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system, obviously. With a ‘measly’ 409hp the 2010 concept did 0-62mph in a very brisk 3.9 seconds, so with 600hp this should be a seriously rapid rocket ship. For an extra boost in performance and efficiency the Quattro Concept could also use some of the boffiny hybrid tech found in Audi’s legendary Le Mans winning e-tron racecars, too.
We’ll have more details when the car is revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, so stay tuned.
