Bentley have confirmed that they will be putting an SUV into production during 2016. The SUV craze continues…
Ewww, not this disgusting Bentley SUV thing again!
In concept EXP 9 F form Bentley’s SUV isn’t the most attractive lump of luxury around, is it? But don’t let that worry you because apparently Bentley’s styling department have gone back to the drawing board since their SUV concept caused vomit-y projectiles at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and given the actual production version looks that more than just its mother could love. The EXP 9 F Concept was a total catastrophic failure if we’re honest, it sort of looks like a massive tortoise with a chrome shell, the production version should look much more pleasant. And if this sketch is anything to go by, it should look a bit less boxy than the original concept.
Good. Let me guess, it shares lots of stuff with its Volkswagen Group cousins?
Indeed it does. The Bentley SUV will share its underpinnings with the next generation Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Toureg, even the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV. But, Bentley reckon that their high rider will be the most powerful and exquisitely crafted SUV on the road – they’re even telling us to “prepare to be amazed”, which sort of sounds like something Jeremy Clarkson would say before revealing a drivable toaster or er, a hover van… Expect the massive SUV to be powered by Bentleys stupendously powerful 6.0liter twin turbo W12 engine, the twin turbo V8 in the ‘base’ model and hybrid is likely to sit in the middle of the range to prevent hippies from chaining themselves to Bentley HQ’s front gate.
Lets imagine for a moment that I’m very wealthy, or a football player. When could I have one and for how much?
The Bentley SUV will enter production sometime during 2016, at which point you can expect to pay quite a lot of money for one. Maybe more than a Flying Spur…. Which costs approximately £140,900 or $200,000 in American coins.
