BMW’s official South African site has prematurely revealed full specs of the BMW 2-series range which is yet to be officially released. This has caused a real stir across the Internet with people going mad for the details so we thought you might like to know what the 2 Series has in store!
No official pictures are available just yet but the site launched the 2-Series configurator which revealed engine specifications, performance data, colour combinations, and even price! Naturally, the configurator has since been taken down.

BMW M235i Coupe
Lets start with the top performing model. The M235i will come with the same 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine that also powers it’s 1-series sibling with output rated at 322hp (240kW,326PS) and 450Nm (332lb-ft) of torque.
This will enable the performance model to hit 100kph (62mph) from standstill in 4.8 seconds when fitted the automatic transmission, the manual version will be 0.2 seconds lower. Top speed is electronically limited to 250kph (155mph).
Pricing starts at 503,079 South African Rand which equates to roughly $50,000 at current exchange rates.
BMW 220i Coupe
The standard model of the 2-series coupe will make use of the 4-cylinder 2.0-liter unit that produces 181hp (135kW,183PS) and 270Nm of torque. It results in a 0-100kph time of 7 seconds and a top speed of 235kph.
Pricing starts at 366,257 South African Rand (around $37,000).
BMW 220d Coupe
The final specs belong to the 220d that houses the 2.0-liter diesel unit producing 181hp (135kW,183PS) and 380Nm of torque. It gives the model a 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds with the automatic transmission and has a top speed of 235kph (146mph).
