Bugatti has set another world record! This time, they’ve built the fastest open top production car… In The World. See the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse in action below.
At Volkswagens massive Ehra-Lessien test track, in the hands of Chinese test driver Anthony Liu, the 1200hp 8.0liter, sixteen cylinder, quad turbo Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse hit a mind blowing 254mph (408.84kph). With the roof off!
While the previous, and mechanical identical, Grand Sport Vitesse models had their top speed limited to a piffing 233mph this WRC (World Record Car) model has had the limiter removed to avoid the same confusion that caused the Veyron Super Sport to be stripped of its Worlds Fastest Production Car title.
According to the 29 year old test driver “The car is, even at such high speeds, incredibly comfortable and stable”, he even went on to mention that he had the seat heaters warming his buttocks during the run and that the he felt warmer in the car doing over 250mph than he did standing still. It’s all mind-blowing stuff, the Veyron really is a technological masterpiece.
But we’re still waiting to see what Bugatti can do against the completely bonkers and current Fastest Production Car In The World titleholder, Hennessey Venom GT. Just eight examples of the World Record Car will be built, and they’ll sell at a shade under two million euros each.
Want one? Us too. But we’ll be living precariously through Evo magazines Harry Metcalfe for now, though…
