Watch the Porsche 918 Spyder spinning its wheels in a fit of anger and fury as it navigates a driveway.
Some men wearing designer sunglasses have been caught driving about in Porsches new hybrid hypercar. And it seems as though the car is encountering some traction problems during its final phase of development. In the video below you can see the front wheels spinning up a storm as they struggle to contain the massive torrent of torque being delivered by those electric motors tucked under the front bonnet, and er, navigate a slightly un-even driveway…
The Porsche 918 Spyder is powered by a pretty incredible 4.6liter naturally aspirated V8 which includes lots of cool titanium bits and drives the rear wheels. Then there’s a pair of electric motors on the front axle. The total power output is allegedly a pretty substantial 795hp, but since Ferrari and McLaren revealed their electrifying (sorry) hypercars that deliver in excess of 900hp rumors are suggesting that Porsche has turned up the wick and bumped power up to 875hp.
Any how, sit back, enjoy some of the aural delights emanating from the 918’s unique exhaust system and have a bit of a chuckle at these poor blokes who are forced to mooch about in this immense technological masterpiece of a car.
You’ll note that this particular car is fitted with the £55,000 Weissach Pack which adds fireproofing for some bizarre reason and makes the car a little bit more uncomfortable (see lots of other silly car options here). While we don’t really approve of the stupidly priced Weissach Pack, we’re quite fond of the matte black paint and Martini racing livery. Very tasty, indeed.
