Carhoots has been following the development of Seb Loeb’s Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak racer through our weekly top videos of the week blog, because well, it’s just a bit awesome. Today, Seb and the mental T16 absolutely smashed the Pikes Peak record.
Peugeot, equipped with their monstrous 875hp mid-engined 208 T16, which sort of slightly resembles a car, or a goat, if you squint hard enough, and a man known as the Jesus of motorsports, probably, took to Pikes Peak for one reason. To not just beat the previous record set by Rhys Millen in a Hyundai Genesis, but to annihilate it. And annihilate they did.
Sebastien Loeb took a frankly frightening 8:13.878 to roar up the mountain of 156 corners, most of which are accompanied by perilous unguarded drops, which is more than one minute and 33 seconds quicker than Rhys Millen’s record and he wasn’t exactly pottering around the mountain in his Hyundai like a pensioner out for a Sunday drive in their Elantra either.
Here’s the video of Sebs record breaking run. He was going so fast at one point that the chopper pilot got a bit muddled up and lost him. THE SPEEEED.
