New 2013 Frontier
In 2012, Nissan Frontier ranked number 1 out of 6 for compact pickup trucks, according to USNews.com. Expect more of the same from the new 2013 Frontier. The 2WD King Cab 14 Manual S gets great gas mileage (for a truck) with 19 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. It offers a five-speed manual transmission, an I4 2.5L/152 engine, an extended cab, rear wheel drive and a locking rear differential. The new 2013 Frontier can be bought with an optional AM/FM stereo, CD player and a MP3 player. Owners will surely enjoy this energy saving model.
The Ram 1500 sports an eight-speed manual transmission and a 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 engine with 305 horsepower. It has terrific gas mileage with 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. There are two V-8 engines that are available. Offerings include a 5.7 liter that delivers 395 horsepower or a 4.7 liter that delivers 310 horsepower. Both come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive or a two-wheel drive is offered. The 2WD Regular Cab 6.4 Ft Box Tradesman offers a V-8 4.7L/287 engine and 315 horsepower. The 2WD Regular Cab Ft Box Express offers a V-8 5.7L/345 engine and 390 horsepower. Both get 14 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway, have rear wheel drive and automatic transmissions.
Known for its toughness, the Ford F-150 is on this year’s hot list. The SuperCrew model offers a 4 x 2 long wheel version with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Along with the Max Trailer Tow Package and the Heavy Duty Truck Package, this truck is one of the meanest this year. This model’s gas mileage is impressive. Its mpg in the city is 16 and on the highway is 22, says Jerry Hirsch of Los Angeles Times. It has rear-wheel drive, a 2,620 pound payload and a towing capacity of 11,300 pounds. According to the Consumer’s Union, the Ford F-150 is a top safety pick. These trucks go through a minimum of 50 tests to achieve this honor.
Ranked number 2 out of 6 for compact pickup trucks in 2013, according to USNews.com, the Toyota Tacoma was also named as the Best 2013 Compact Car for the Money. The base model comes equipped with a four-cylinder engine and a five-speed or optional six-speed transmission.
