Former Top Gear star Ben Collins, who took on the role of the anonymous racing driver The Stig, says the American muscle car is the best in the world at performing stunts.
Having performed in James Bond film Spectre, The Dark Knight Rises and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Collins knows a lot about driving the world’s best cars on screen. After taking to the track as The Stig for eight years before an acrimonious split with the BBC car show, he has now revealed his top car in a new film project.
The claims are made in a new film called ‘Ben Collins: Stunt Driver’, where he describes the 5.0-litre V8-powered car as the best vehicle to perform a Hollywood-style car chase.
“The point of this adventure was to find the perfect car for an epic, high octane, Hollywood-style car chase, and it’s the iconic Ford Mustang that gets top billing,” Collins said. “Mustang has starred in many a classic car chase during the past 50 years, and is still the stunt driver’s weapon of choice to leave the bad guys standing in a cloud of tyre smoke.”
The Ford Mustang is no stranger to the silver screen, having appeared in 3,700 films including the iconic chase scene in Bullitt. It also appeared in 2014 film Need for Speed. The Mustang is on sale in the UK for the first time in 50 years and orders are open now.
