New Alfa Romeo 4C Images Revealed

2014 Alfa Romeo 4C: new official images revealed. Carhoots has fresh pictures of Alfa Romeos hot new sports car…

Fresh images of Alfa Romeos much needed 4C sports car have been released. And while it looks fantastic with its Nike tick inspired side air intakes and pert little bottom, the silly abnormal-growth-like plastic headlight caps still remain! Why have you done this, Alfa!?

Anyway, it is a speedy little thing. The lightweight, 950kg stunner is powered by a mid-mounted, 1.75liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine developing 240hp, which is hooked up to a 7-speed twin clutch gearbox. The 0-62mph run is dealt with in a respectable 4.5 seconds.

But what makes this car special – besides the incredibly low curb weight – is the fact that power is sent to the back only, marking a return to proper rear-drive sports cars for Alfa (the 8C Competizion doesn’t really count), as well as a return to the American market.

The 4C should handle pretty well, too, with an all aluminum suspension design featuring double-wishbones and MacPherson struts attached to a carbon fiber tub, plus an engine residing in the middle. Add in less body flab than an average American and it’s pretty difficult to imagine Alfa muddling up the whole driving bit.

The cabin is very minimalistic and driver focused with all of the controls angled towards the helmsman (or woman). A completely button-less leather wrapped steering wheel hints at the 4C’s dynamic focus, while the instrument display is of the color TFT screen variety and changes color depending on what driving mode you select. Oddly, race mode – which also features a g-force meter – turns the dials yellow while dynamic takes red. It looks otherworldly cool and very racy.

The 4C is the car Alfa Romeo needed to build, it’s a proper sports car designed on a clean sheet and built from the ground up. It wont be cheap (slightly more expensive than the Lotus Elise), but it promises to be an absolutely brilliant steer. We like.
