MINI Superleggera Vision Concept Is The Most Wonderfully Un-MINI MINI Yet

    mini-superleggera-vision-concept

Under the BMW Group’s tutelage, the MINI brand has grown into something that only loosely resembles its truly pint-sized past. That’s not entirely a bad thing, however, as some of the newest MINIs are also some of the best. But the MINI Superleggera Vision concept is the most un-MINI MINI we’ve ever seen—and it might just be our favorite.

Built by MINI and Touring Superleggera as a concept for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2014, the MINI Superleggera Vision is a low-slung, vaguely MINI-themed two-seat roadster that MINI says blends “Modern Britishness” with “Italian flair.”

The bodywork is done in classic Italian style, hand-shaped and built to please the eye as much or more than any aerodynamicist. The driving theme behind the look is one of minimalism, stripping down the exterior and interior to its most elemental components, then building them back up with purposefully chosen style.

The cockpit is wrapped in leather, aluminum, and black chrome, with iconic MINI styling themes playing out across the dash and controls.

This passionate approach to design in a package that bucks all of MINI’s classically two-block forms makes us wish the Superleggera Vision weren’t a concept, but a production-destined look at the future of sporty MINIs.

But then again, it might just be. Look out, 2016 Mazda MX-5.

Face It, Car Touch Screens Suck. Except This One (VIDEO)

Car interfaces are generally pretty dire. There, I said it. In a world full of touch screens in our homes, in public, and even in our pockets; you think car manufacturers would  wise up and get with the times.

We spend a lot of time in our cars, and a lot of money on them. Why should we settle for a low-res touch screen crammed with buttons, when the traditional plastic button worked better? Touch screens were implemented as a selling point, rather than a new intuitive way of controlling your car.

But a guy named Matthaeus Krenn has come up with an ingenious new interface that would revolutionize how we interact with our cars.

    ui3

It’s not perfect. Hell, it looks confusing, and working out how to use it would be a challenge. Would I remember how many fingers to use to control air flow whilst flying down the freeway? Probably not. But it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

    ui2

But car makes should take note; and who knows, maybe we will see Android or iOS in our cars within the next few years. They need to take a step back, and build an interface from the ground up that’s easy and fast; just like this guy has done.

Have a gander at the concept UI in action below.

DMC. Concept Takes DeLorean Back To The Future (VIDEO)

The DeLorean DMC-12 was, for a brief but shining moment, the dream of the 1980s motorist. Eventually failed in the cold, hard, reality of bad business deals and sketchy engineering, the gullwing DeLorean has nevertheless refused to go away. The injection of stardom from Back to the Future and the motoring media’s near sycophantic obsession with the wild life of John Z. DeLorean have given the brand legs that wouldn’t have been believed in the darkest days of 1983.

The iconic bodyshell of the DMC-12 has played host to powertrains ranging from high-output mills to electric motors; toys based on the car still crop on the regular; the model makes occasional appearances on screens of all kinds.

It’s not shocking then, that the DeLorean is still inspiring young designers, as well. We ran across this rather interesting new take on the DMC brand recently, a DMC.Concept that imagines a car positioned as a luxury coupe in the 2014 marketplace. Designer Alex Graszk may not have anything like a path to production for his evocative machine, but we still like the cut of his cloth. The concept does not so much ape the DMC-12 styling that we’re all so fond of, but it does strike us as a realistic, modern interpretation of the values that guided the first car.

Tell us how the fanciful DMC.Concept strikes you in Comments after scrolling below for a brief video.

Meet The Arrow EV – ‘A Jet Fighter For The Road’

The Arrow EV Is A Jet Fighter For The Road

The Arrow EV Is A Jet Fighter For The Road
The Arrow EV might just be a concept for now, but this could well be the car that makes people accept and embrace the future of driving and three wheeled vehicles. Why? Because it’s green, it’s slick and it looks super fun!

The tiny three wheeler was inspired by a jet fighter and runs of electricity. But don’t be fooled… there is room for two people underneath that jet fighter looking retractable cockpit and it is expected to have a range of 370 miles.

If you are not a fan of the three wheeler, there is also a trike model and four wheeler concept being worked on, but there is something about the three wheeler that cries out “I’m the vehicle of the future”. Perhaps it’s just me getting a little excited, and until this concept is presented to us in person other than some teasing concept photos it will always be the car of tomorrow rather than the car of today.

What do we think? Are we fans?

Are Kia About To Become Cool? Check Out The Sleek Concept Car Set For Detroit Auto Show

    Gt4 Stinger by Kia

    Gt4 Stinger by Kia
Kia don’t exactly have the coolest reputation when it comes to sleek design but that looks set to change when the GT4 concept is unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month.

The GT4 Stinger rests just a few inches above the ground and sits on 20-inch wheels. To keep it glued to the road, Kia built in a carbon fiber front splitter below the bumper, to create downforce. To help it take off, the Korean automaker put a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that will pump out 315 horsepower. All of that goes to the rear wheels.

That’s all we know for now which leaves us all wanting a little bit more. But you will just have to wait until Detroit.

    Check it out…

This Aston Martin VIE GH Anniversary 100 Concept Looks Incredible (PHOTOS)

Aston Martin VIE GH Anniversary 100 Concept Photos

Aston Martin VIE GH Anniversary 100 Concept PhotosThere are so many amazing concept cars flying around the internet getting us car buffs all excited and this Aston Martin VIE GH Anniversary 100 Concept is yet another.

It was rendered up by Grigory Gorin from Tula, Russia. And it is his dream for what the a centenary Aston Martin could look like.

“The Aston Martin VIE GH Anniversary 100 Concept draws its inspiration from the 1935 Ulster and the more recent 2009 One-77. The “VIE” moniker comes from “Vehement, Intelligent, Electro” and the concept is envisioned with fuel cell technology. It has a hydrogen tank installed under the rear suspension and a lithium-ion battery mounted in the center of the car while the battery has been integrated into the roof.

The artist imagined his creation with a hydrogen-aerial electrochemical generator at the front and with an electric motor within each wheel to provide the car with an all-wheel drive setup. It also has an adjustable independent suspension and a monocoque body structure made from carbon fiber. To top it all off, the concept is conceived with an adjustable transparent glass with opacity control.”
