Fast & Furious “Supercharged” Ride Coming To Universal Studios

    fast-and-furious-ride-universal-studios

Few could have expected the success enjoyed by the Fast and Furious movie franchise. Six movies down the line–with a seventh on the way, despite the death of Paul Walker, one of its stars–the franchise has earned over $2.3 billion at the box office since 2001.

With every franchise comes spin-offs, and the latest is a new Fast and Furious ride, set to open at Universal Studios in California. Revealed on the official Fast and Furious Twitter feed, the “Fast and Furious – Supercharged” ride will open in summer 2015, just a few months after the seventh film makes its on-screen debut in April next year.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the attraction will be a high-definition, 3-D feature based in a newly-constructed 50,000 square-foot structure at the park. Action will be relayed onto a 360-degree screen, while visitors sit in a hydraulic motion carriage to bring the experience to life. Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative, says the ride will “bring the franchise to life through epic storytelling and technological breakthroughs.”

No price for the ride has been announced, though the Fast and Furious experience is just one part of a much larger expansion at the park, spanning 25 years and costing $1.6 billion. Also part of the expansion was the installation of a Transformers-themed ride.

Too Fast & Furious: Paul Walker Crash Caused By Unsafe Driving (DETAILS)

    Paul-Walker-new-crash-details

Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident four months ago and investigators are still trying to find out how it happened.

According to the latest report, it wasn’t a mechanical issue that caused Walker’s Porsche to crash that fateful night, but unsafe driving that took the life of the 41-year-old actor. It was ’caused by speed… not mechanical problems.’

Paul and Roger Rodas, the driver of the vehicle, were traveling around 90 mph when they crashed in Santa Clarita, reports the AP.

“Accident reconstruction specialists calculated that Rodas was driving between 81 mph and 94 mph — in a 45 mph zone — when he lost control. A source quoted the report as saying that “the vehicle had no mechanical failure and the damage that occurred to the vehicle was from the collision.”

The complete official report hasn’t been released to the public just yet, but is scheduled to be made public in the near future.
