The supercars of James Bond Spectre (VIDEO)

    James Bond Spectre

Get a glimpse of the awesome car chase scene from the upcoming James Bond Spectre movie featuring the Aston Martin DB10 and Jaguar C-X75.

The latest James Bond movie promises to be absolutely awesome and will hit cinemas later this year. It should be particularly entertaining for car guys (and gals) too, thanks to the awesome cars lined up for the movie. We’ve known for a while that Aston Martin was building a bespoke car for the movie dubbed DB10. It’s a stunning rear-wheel drive coupe that sadly can’t actually be purchased by the public no matter how deep your pockets are. Ten DB10s were built for the movie, some for stunt purposes and others just for glamour shots. Of course, the Aston Martin will be driven by James Bond and while we can tell you it’s powered by a V8 engine, we’re unsure what weapons and other trick devices Bond’s DB10 will be fitted with.

The villain of the movie Mr. Hinx will be driving Jaguar’s C-X75 supercar which was originally a concept which then got very, very close to going into production as a rival to the Porsche 918, McLaren P1 and LaFerrari. Jaguar pulled the pin on the stunning supercar at the last minute due to economic woes. Now however, the C-X75 is getting a starring role in Spectre where it will be part of one of the coolest car chases of recent times. The movie role fits perfectly with Jaguar’s new ‘good to be bad’ marketing blabber as it attempts to move very far away from its former slippers and cigars image. And with cars like the new F-Type sports car and XE it appears to be doing a rather good job.

The C-X75 won’t be the only Jaguar Land Rover car in the movie either, with other key characters jumping behind the wheel of a few other JLR specials.

The car chase is held on the historic and clearly quite slippery streets of Rome, and the cars are driven right at the limit sliding their way around the Italian capital.

You can get a behind the scenes look at the Aston Martin DB10 and Jaguar C-X75 car chase in the video below.

The Flamethrower Option For My BMW Please… (VIDEO)

    South African Car Flamethrower

You would think a flamethrower on your car would be a future car option but it turns out this James Bond style option was available in the late 90’s in South Africa.

It was called the BMW Blaster, specifically designed for the Johannesburg area in South Africa. The Blaster would protect the driver from potential carjackings as they were on the up in the area at the time.

A Flamethrower Option For Your BMW Was Once A Totally Real Thing

Jalopnik explain why they didn’t take off:

“The device sold only a few hundred of them before being discontinued, due to poor financial return. It’s thought that a number of these are still installed on cars in South Africa, though the carjacking problem, while still one of the worst in the world, isn’t nearly as bad as it once was.”

World’s Largest Collection Of Bond Cars Now For Sale (PHOTOS)

In 2011 Miami real estate investor Michael Dezer bought dozens of cars used in the James Bond films from the Bond Museum in Keswick, England. Since then, he’s added to the trove which now stands at 59 cars, as well as motorcycles, boats, jetskis, tanks and thousands of photos, posters and memorabilia. It is the largest collection of 007 cars in the world, and Dezer has put it up for sale for 20 million pounds ($33.25M US) – the caveat is that you have to buy the entire collection.

But what a collection it is. Among the six Aston Martins are the DB5 from Goldeneye, the Vanquish from Die Another Day and both V8s from The Living Daylights. There is also the Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me – not the Esprit submarine that Elon Musk bought last year at auction, but the pre-dive roadgoing car. The new owner of the collection will keep things up to date with the Audi A5 and the Land Rover Defender 110 from the opening scene of Skyfall, and properly varied with the dragon tank from Dr. No, the Fairey Huntress yacht in From Russia with Love, and the chopped-in-half Renault 11 from A View to a Kill.Land Rover Defender Skyfall Aston_Martin_V8_Volante_living_daylights aston-martin-james-bond

Top 10 Car Movies to Watch Before You Die

Screen Shot 2014-01-23 at 14.10.30Choosing the best 10 car movies to watch is no easy task, but the guys over at BigMotoringWorld have attempted to create a list, how much do you agree?

You may not agree, but even if you take away just one movie from this list, it has been a worthwhile venture. We are here to rejoice in that which is the one and only automobile.

If you are not happy with what we have to tell you, then venture to Big Motoring World Reviews & Complaint Resources, and try your luck there… You’re going to get the same answer. Our word is gospel, so take it like a man (or woman) and make your way through the 10 motoring movie commandments, in reverse order:

    10. Cars (2006)

    None

It had to have a spot in the top ten, not just to please everyone, but it’s pretty
deep… for a kid’s movie. The hotshot race car named Lightning McQueen ends up in Radiator Springs, where he finds the true meaning of friendship and family. Awwww.

    9. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
    None

Based on a book written by Ian Fleming, and with a script written by Roald Dahl… How could this film possibly fail?

This is more than likely the most endearing caricature of a car… Ever! With Herbie coming in a close second place, of course. Haven’t we all dreamt of having our very own flying car?! A great movie, and we all like a bit of cheese every now and then, and Dick Van Dyke makes the movie!

    8.American Graffiti (1973)
    None

A classic through and through, this spot was a fight between American Graffiti and Grease. The perfect storyline for a Sunday afternoon viewing, where a couple of high school grads spend one final night cruising “the strip” with their best buddies before they go off to college.

    7. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
    None

A great movie, with motoring movie madness at its core.
Ricky quickly soars to the top of NASCAR by achieving fame and fortune at Dennit Racing. Starring Will Ferrel and Sacha Baron Cohen, these are the perfect comedy match. There is rivalry, there are fast cars, there is a semi naked Ferrel… But don’t let that put you off!

    6. James Bond (1962-Present)
    None

There is always room for Bond… James Bond. There is no particular film to be listed here; all of them deserve a good watch. This secret agent has been used in the longest continually running and the second-highest grossingfilm franchiseto date. These films are renowned for their technology, music, and of course their cars.

    5. The fast and the furious (2001)
    None

One of the most popular motoring movies of the 21st Century, with numerous sequels, which have been hugely successful all over the world. Full of action, women and cars… What more could you want from a movie!

    4. Death Proof (2007)
    None

Quentin Tarantino strikes again. This movie was part of a double feature and collaboration with Robert Rodriguez.  In this movie, two separate sets of women are stalked at different times by a scarred stuntman, who uses his “death proof” car to kill his victims. This is one not to miss; it is typical modern cult movie at its best.

    3. Drive (2011)
    None

Who doesn’t like Ryan Gosling?! He is one of the major stars of today, and shines in this role. This film features some incredible cars, and even better scenes with them. The chase scene in this film is one of the best car scenes of this century.

    2. Christine (1983)
    None

Stephen King novel, with an even better movie transformation. Every one wants a car like Christine… Or do they? You may want a stunner, but this car comes with a catch, when a nerdy boy buys this strange car with an evil mind of its own.
    Scary stuff.

    1. Bullitt (1968)
    None

Dodge Charger, tough guy with leather gloves, accomplice with unyielding eyes Ford Mustang Fastback, and Steve McQueen at the wheel… Oh yes! This is the perfect and timeless car movie. Even if you don’t watch any of the other movies in this list, go out any buy this one. It never gets old, and you can’t go wrong with the king of cool, Steve McQueen.

There are so many more movies you really should see, not to mention ‘Back To The Future‘, Herbie in ‘The Love Bug’, ‘Transformers‘ and ‘Senna’  (wow, we should create another list!) but get started on this list and you can die a happy car lover.

Gadgets: no gadgetsThe car is then fitted with an Alpine 7817R car radio that doubles as a printer and communication device to head office.  The champagne cooler between the seats is the piece de resistance.

Best Stunt: Bond racing his DB5 down a steep mountain road against Bond baddie Xenia in her striking red Ferrari 355 GTS. Bond is asked to “Stop this car at once” by Caroline, the woman sent to evaluate him. Cue, cool Handbrake stop, smooth lines of seduction and hidden champagne on ice.
