Jay Leno Makes Noise In A 1963 Corvette Stingray (VIDEO)

If you were to compile a list of America’s most iconic cars, the second-generation Corvette would probably be somewhere in the top ten. It’s not too much of a leap to suggest that Jay Leno owns the other nine you’d put on the list too, but in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage we get to see his pristine 1963 Corvette—the single-year car with its iconic split rear window and decorative hood vents.

Leno explores those two iconic details but also examines others you might not have known about—from the rear-mounted gas cap with its ball-style latching mechanism, to the car’s incredibly intricate hub caps. These lasted only a year, owing to their complexity—seventeen pieces went into each one, already deemed financially uneconomical by the time the 1964 car debuted.

Jay’s car is about as original as ’63 Corvettes get, retaining all these details plus its fuel-injection system and unique exhaust setup, the four-speed transmission and its simple, iconic interior. Then Jay does what we all wish we could—take it for a spin. It looks as good on the road as it does in Jay’s garage. Sounds good, too—and with 360 horsepower from its 327 cu-in V-8, it goes pretty well too. Jay describes it as a car that’s “fun to drive swiftly”, though old-school tire and brake technology deters him from going any faster.

Watch Jay Leno’s McLaren P1 Delivered In Beverly Hills (VIDEO)

    Jay-Leno-McLaren-P1

Would it surprise you if we told you that Jay Leno is getting delivery of the first McLaren P1 on this side of the Atlantic?

Of course it didn’t shock us; and it’s an interesting lesson on how the slightly surreal world of exotic car delivery can work.

Unlike the sometimes cringe-worthy unloading (or loading) antics we’ve seen with other supercars, this McLaren P1 gets the white glove treatment, complete with a truck that not only lowers its bed, but raises its top to free the car in the most gentle and elegant of ways.

Under the protective covering, we can see that the car being delivered (in the Beverly Hills area) is a bright yellow P1. Once off the truck, the delivery team takes special precautions to ensure the P1 doesn’t scrape its nose or tail on the entry to the dealership where it will await delivery.

Leno has developed quite a reputation for getting first dibs of all sorts; he was also the first outside McLaren to drive a P1, last summer.

We’ve lots of badass Porsche 918 track hoonage so far, so it is refreshing to see what it is like to drive what he describes as the “a race car you can drive every day,” in real world settings.

Jay Leno Takes A Spin In A Shelby Brock Daytona Coupe (VIDEO)

The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is one of those classic cars that has managed to stand the test of time, likely due in part to both its racing success, helping the charismatic Carroll Shelby defeat Ferrari with Ford-powered Anglo-American machines of his company’s own design, and its stunning good looks. And, while Shelby is the name history recalls most fondly, the man behind the Daytona Coupe’s slippery bodywork was Pete Brock, who had previously drawn up the design of the seminal Corvette Sting Ray for General Motors.

Watch Jay Leno take this Daytona for a spin in the video below.

Tim Allen And His 1968 Camaro Visit Jay Leno’s Garage (VIDEO)

Tim Allen And His 1968 Camaro Visit Jay Leno's Garage (VIDEO)

Tim Allen And His 1968 Camaro Visit Jay Leno's Garage (VIDEO)
For the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, Tim Allen stopped by with his customized 1968 Camaro.

Inspired by a green ’68 Allen used to see racing up and down Detroit’s Woodward Avenue, many subtle modifications and details cribbed from some legendary Camaro models.

Painted in the same shade as Allen’s teenage fascination, the Camaro wears COPO badges. While it’s not one of the original (and now extremely rare) COPO cars, it does feature a similarly monstrous “small-block” 427-cubic-inch V-8. It also has the hunkered-down stance of a Trans-Am racer. Think of it as a tribute to both cars.

Yet at first glance, it looks remarkably stock, as Allen didn’t want to go too crazy with changes. The integrated fender flares and deleted drip rails give the car a muscular yet classy look, while the custom 17-inch Rally wheels keep things looking stock, but conceal upgraded Brembo disc brakes.

The engine bay got a similar remake. Allen said he wanted the swap to look like something that came right out of the Chevy factory, but also wanted to clean things up to properly show off that 427.

This Camaro can still smoke its tires like any other ’60s muscle car, but upgrades to the structure and suspension give it the solidity and handling of a modern car, something Jay seemed very impressed with during the drive.

Jay Leno Reviews Porsche 911 Carrera S & The Morgan 3 Wheeler | (VIDEO)

Its always nice to get a video car review from a celebrity for that extra bit of social proof, so here is Jay Leno’s take on the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the classic Morgan 3 Wheeler on his latest ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ show.

The new-generation 911 Carrera S is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six with direct injection engine that delivers a total of 400 horsepower. When equipped with the PDK gearbox, the new Carrera S can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Porsche also offers a Sport Chrono Package that improves the sprint time to 4.1 seconds.

Check out the video to see what Leno has to say about the new generation 911. Also, see if he agrees that the Morgan 3 Wheeler is just a money burner.

    Jay certainly knows his stuff!

Singing At The Gas Station – Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’ Prank Goes Viral | (VIDEO)

    jay leno prank

If you haven’t seen The Leno gas station prank yet then here is your chance! It is what the world has been talking about all weekend as Will Sims and wife Monifa shoot to fame with their hilarious viral prank by the “Tonight Show.”

This wasn’t your standard visit to the gas station…After discovering that his “target” seemed like a good singer, the faux-host offered Sims a free tank of gas if he sang some karaoke well enough.

Sims said that he was an “80s kid” so he started singing Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” in the middle of this gas station. He was pretty amazing, too!

During the segment, his wife Monifa is seen cracking up in the passenger seat of their car, clearly aware of the prank that is happening to her husband. The anchor asks Will to bring his wife out for a duet but will responds, “Nah, I’ll leave her in there.”

As promised, the Sims get a free tank of gas, which prompts Will to sing the impromptu lyrics “livin’ on the gas!”

Monifa finally makes her way out and after a brief interaction with another gas station customer decides she is ready to sing. She wows Leno’s audience and the fake anchor with a rendition of “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics. Will even joins in after a few lines to make it a duet.

Leno couldn’t have had a better couple for this prank! Good singers, good dancers, great personalities and a great fun! This is absolutely awesome…

You can see why this has taken the Internet by storm this weekend can’t you? It certainly had us in stitches! Leno was so impressed he actually invited the Sims onto his show to let them sing, simply because they were an awesome couple…
