Top Gear boys Clarkson, Hammond and May release new film (VIDEO)

    Top Gear

Former Top Gear presenters Clarkson, Hammond and May have released their first promotional video for their new live shows.

The boys are officially back filming again, and they’ve released their first new footage footage since the Clarkson fracas. The short video which you can see below is a promotional clip for the trio’s Clarkson, Hammond and May Live stadium tour, and the show now has its own Youtube account. They’ve also started the hashtag ‘#BackOnTheRoad’ which you can follow as the boys travel around the world presenting their live show.

Initially it was thought that the live shows, previously held under the ‘Top Gear’ banner would not go ahead following the Clarkson incident. However, things will go ahead as normal, but under the new ‘Clarkson, Hammond and May Live’ name.

Check out the first promotional video below featuring Clarkson and Hammond… and James May’s piano….

As for the remaining filmed Top Gear episodes from season 22 that are yet to be shown, they’re expected to air later this year during the European summer. BBC executives have made it clear they intend to show the final episodes, especially given how high the ratings would be with the hype that the Clarkson controversy has caused.

What’s Jeremy Clarkson doing with this Corvette Z06?

    Jeremy Clarkson Corvette

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has posted an image of a C7 Corvette Z06 on Twitter sparking rumours that he’s filming again.

What exactly is Jeremy Clarkson doing? Since the fracas with a Top Gear producer and the demise of the show as we know it, Clarkson has been hinting that we haven’t seen the last of him. A few weeks ago he met with co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond as well as former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman. And with that information its believed the four are planning to start their own motoring show in a similar format to the Top Gear so many know and love.

Now we might have the next piece of the puzzle with Jeremy Clarkson posting a picture of a Corvette Z06 and a film crew to his Twitter. The group appears to be at a race track too – the natural habitat of the Corvette – and if you look closely you can see a short man in the background that appears to be Richard Hammond. There’s also a big TV-grade camera and a few other random people.

Are they filming a segment for their new show that doesn’t even officially exist yet? Is it even a TV show that they’re planning? Could be a Youtube series, Netflix or DVD? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

New Top Gear hosts to be Jodie Kidd, Guy Martin and Philip Glenister

    Jodie Kidd

If reports out of the UK are to be believed, Top Gear’s reinvention for 2016 will include a new female host alongside motorbike superstar.

The Sunday Express is reporting that the BBC has signed its new hosts of Top Gear as the show gets reinvented for 2016 after the Clarkson fracas which saw Clarkson, Hammond and May leave the BBC. If true, new Top Gear will be hosted by Jodie Kidd who currently presents The Classic Car Show, motorcycle legend Guy Martin from Speed with Guy Martin and Philip Glenister who currently hosts For The Love Of Cars.

The source of this information is claimed to have come from Top Gear producer Andy Wilman who was overheard speaking with singer and car nut Jay Kay. The source obviously is a little unreliable, especially given that producer Andy Wilman was spotted in public with Clarkson and the crew a few days ago and he’s tipped to join their new show.

The key to Top Gear’s success has always been the chemistry between hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May. Without those three, it’s unlikely the show can continue and be successful in its current format of car-based entertainment. One thing’s certain, the general public is very keen to see Clarkson, Hammond and May again whether as Top Gear or under some other banner.

Clarkson, Hammond and May meet with former TopGear producer

Clarkson meets with former TopGear producer

Former TopGear hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May have held a secret meeting with Top Gear producer Andy Wilman who quit yesterday.

The Top Gear lads Clarkson, Hammond and May have been spotted together for the first time since the Clarkson fracas along with Top Gear producer Andy Wilman.

Wilman, a longtime friend of Clarkson’s, officially resigned from his position as producer at Top Gear yesterday, sparking rumours that they may be planning a rival show to the original Top Gear which is set to be reinvented for 2016.

James May also officially resigned from the BBC last week, leaving only Hammond with a formal contract with the broadcaster. However, given the secret meeting held with the three presenters and producer Andy Wilman, it’s expected Hammond will follow his co-presenters move away from the BBC. At this stage all signs point towards the group starting their own motoring show in a similar structure to the Top Gear that we know and love only under a different name obviously. More details will likely come to the surface in the coming months.

Jeremy Clarkson’s final Top Gear episodes will be shown

    Top Gear

A BBC boss has confirmed that the remaining films from Top Gear season 22 will be aired despite Jeremy Clarkson fracas.

Jeremy Clarkson may have been sacked by the BBC, but he is set to make an on-screen return for the broadcaster as the final episodes of Top Gear are set to air. According to The Lad Bible, a BBC boss has confirmed that the remaining scenes from the final Top Gear series will be aired at some point.

The BBC boss said, “no way would I want the available material not to be seen by viewers. Jeremy will be back on the BBC.” Apparently there is enough pre-recorded footage for another three episodes of Top Gear, only the studio sequences that normally link the films together are missing with Clarkson, Hammond and May now unavailable. The remaining Top Gear films are expected to to air sometime during the English summer.

Meanwhile, Clarkson has alluded to the fact that he, Hammond and May are working on a new motoring show away from the BBC. Clarkson suggested that in many situations the show was hampered by the BBC’s corporate views and that this is what ultimately killed the show. It is expected details of the new show will be revealed later this year.

As for the re-invention of the BBC’s Top Gear, the show looks to be taking a completely new direction with talks of a female presenter being part of the show. The same BBC boss that revealed the final episodes of Top Gear as we know it would be shown has been toying with the idea of a female presenter for the new Top Gear.

The last ever Top Gear episode (VIDEO)

    Jeremy Clarkson

Unseen footage of the final Top Gear episode ever has been released following the sacking of Jeremy Clarkson by the BBC.

Fans of Top Gear haven’t been taking the news of Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking lightly. They haven’t gone completely insane like fans of One Direction member Zayne who quit the band on the same day of Clarkson’s sacking. Those fans have been taking sick days on the grounds of ‘compassion’ and even self-harming in some cases, which is a bit pathetic.

Top Gear fans have been much more reasonable. The end of the show as we know it is a great tragedy and there has been some general grieving on social media, but an inside look at what was to be the final ever episode of Top Gear should serve as a comfortable shoulder to sob on… It’s only a short clip about 1 minute in length but it is at least some new unseen footage that will be more than welcomed after having zero new Top Gear content for the last two weeks.

    Check out the video below.

James May’s priceless reaction to Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking – including exquisite pink hat.

OFFICIAL: Clarkson sacked by BBC from Top Gear

    Top Gear

Jeremy Clarkson has officially been sacked by the BBC after abusing a Top Gear producer.

The BBC has released an official statement regarding the Top Gear Clarkson scandal, which sees the presenter sacked.

54 year old Clarkson was on his final warning before getting involved in a physical altercation with Irish producer Oisin Tymon who was hospitalised following the incident.

    Tony Hall, Director General of the BBC released the following statement;

‘“It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract. It is not a decision I have taken lightly. I have done so only after a very careful consideration of the facts and after personally meeting both Jeremy and Oisin Tymon.

“Obviously none of us wanted to find ourselves in this position. This decision should in no way detract from the extraordinary contribution that Jeremy Clarkson has made to the BBC. I have always personally been a great fan of his work and Top Gear. Jeremy is a huge talent. He may be leaving the BBC but I am sure he will continue to entertain, challenge and amuse audiences for many years to come.

“The BBC must now look to renew Top Gear for 2016. This will be a big challenge and there is no point in pretending otherwise. I have asked Kim Shillinglaw to look at how best we might take this forward over the coming months. I have also asked her to look at how we put out the last programmes in the current series.”

Reports are suggesting that the BBC hopes to replace Clarkson with radio host and massive petrol head Chris Evans – who has an epic collection of Ferraris including a 250 GTO worth £12 million.

Previously Clarkson’s co-presenter’s Richard Hammond and James May refused to film the show without him. Whether they continue with the show or follow Clarkson into other ventures is unknown at this point.

It’s officially the end of the road for Top Gear as we know it. While the BBC is keen to keep the show going, Jeremy, James and Richard are essential to its success – their chemistry was the show. Most seem to think Top Gear is a car show, but it’s actually an entertainment program about three middle-aged blokes who happen to drive cars and talk about them. The cars weren’t the essence of the program, the people were. And that’s why it’s unlikely that Top Gear will be successful without those three hosts.

And I suspect they’ll need to reinvent the show in some way to avoid trying to replicate the Top Gear that we currently know and love. You only have to watch American or Australian Top Gear to realise that trying to be like those three guys doesn’t work and won’t for a very long time.

We can only hope that Clarkson, Hammond and May are picked up by another broadcaster to create the show people want to watch.

Jeremy Clarkson will be sacked from Top Gear

    Jeremy Clarkson

British news reports that Jeremy Clarkson will be sacked from his position on Top Gear with an official BBC announcement pending.

The BBC is expected to announce the findings of its investigation into the fracas involving Clarkson and a junior Top Gear producer today, revealing the fate of Clarkson and Top Gear as we know it.

The Daily Telegraph is claiming to have inside information, reporting that the decision to sack Clarkson has been made but Top Gear will continue with a replacement host.

54 year old Clarkson was on his final warning before getting involved in a physical altercation with Irish producer Oisin Tymon who was hospitalised following the incident.

The Daily Telegraph reports; ‘it is understood a report into the so-called ‘fracas’ at a North Yorkshire hotel concluded that [the] presenter spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him.’

It’s believed the BBC finds itself with no choice but to end Clarkson’s career as presenter of Top Gear.

An official announcement regarding the future of Top Gear and Clarkson is expected to come from BBC Director General Lord Hall in the coming hours.

Clarkson says he will be sacked from Top Gear (VIDEO)

    Jeremy Clarkson

At a recent charity event, Jeremy Clarkson claimed he would be sacked by the BBC from his position on Top Gear.

Video footage has emerged of Clarkson making a speech at a recent charity event in the U.K, where he claimed he believed the BBC would sack him following the recent ‘fracas’ with a producer.

It’s been reported Clarkson punched the producer after he became angry over the lack of catering at a shoot location.

At the charity event Clarkson said, “I didn’t foresee my sacking but I would like to do one last lap. So I’ll go down to Surrey and I’ll do one last lap of that track before the f**king bastards sack me.”

“I’ll be a bit tearful when I do it, but f**k it, let’s do it,” he said.

Clarkson then proposed the idea of auctioning off a passenger ride with him as he completed his final lap of the track, which is believed to have raised £100,000 for charity.

“I’ll drive somebody around in whatever I can get hold of. I’m sacked so it’s probably an Austin Maestro. So who knows? But anyway it will be my last ever lap of the Top Gear track,” said Clarkson.

The outcome of the investigation into the Clarkson fracas scandal is expected to be heard next week.

Top Gear will not air this Sunday. You can check out the clip below.

BBC reportedly offer terms for Clarkson Top Gear return

    Jeremy Clarkson

The BBC has reportedly prepared terms for Jeremy Clarkson’s return to Top Gear, though he’s unlikely to agree to them.

Apparently the BBC has drawn up terms which will see Clarkson reinstated as co-presenter of Top Gear, along with May and Hammond who refuse to film the show without the controversial Clarkson.

However, Clarkson’s return is entirely dependant on him agreeing on those terms, which is unlikely.

A report from the Daily Mail suggests that the BBC want an executive to be put in place as a ‘minder’ for Clarkson – basically a baby sitter who will make sure he doesn’t do anything else that may cause controversy.

A source inside the BBC said “I think that people do see a way to resolve this, and that is by putting someone strong in to manage the show and manage Clarkson. He is a brilliant broadcaster, everyone can see that.”

After a petition to reinstate Clarkson received almost one million signatures, it is believed BBC executives felt more inclined to resolve the problem rather than fire the presenter outright.

Meanwhile the BBC has released a rather aloof official statement regarding the Clarkson incident which said:

“Following last week’s suspension of Jeremy Clarkson, Ken MacQuarrie is now considering the evidence and will report to the Director-General on his findings next week.

“Once this has been considered, we will set out any further steps. The BBC will not be offering further commentary until then.”

No Top Gear this week, reports Clarkson will be fired

    Top Gear

The investigation into Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson continues, with reports suggesting he hospitalised a producer.

The suits at Top Gear have released an official statement regarding next week’s show, stating that it will not air following an investigation into the actions of presenter Jeremy Clarkson who reportedly punched a producer.

The matter is currently being investigated by the director of BBC Scotland, and further episodes of Top Gear will be postponed until the investigation is complete.

Fans of the show are genuinely devastated, and an online petition calling for Clarkson to be re-instated has received in excess of 800,000 signatures.

Meanwhile, there have been reports claiming to have inside knowledge on what went down the day the controversial Clarkson made headlines.

It’s being reported by the U.K’s Mirror that the Clarkson’s swing hospitalized producer Oisin Tymon after calling him a “lazy Irish c***”.

Apparently Clarkson was angry after he and his co-presenters were ferried by helicopter from the Top Gear track to a film location about two hours away where hot food was not immediately available.

This incident lead to a lengthy dispute and the eventual punch. It’s believed Clarkson may have been intoxicated at the time.

It’s all looking pretty bad for Clarkson. If the rumours turn out to be true, he probably doesn’t deserve to keep his job.

Jeremy Clarkson suspended from Top Gear, show postponed

    Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended from the BBC’s Top Gear TV program and series 22 has been postponed.

The rumours suggest that Jeremy Clarkson threw a punch at one of the show’s producers after they had a disagreement. Top Gear’s creators have since suspended Clarkson from the show and the BBC has stated that the show will not air this Sunday with the series postponed until further notice.

Clarkson is no stranger to controversy, accused of using the n-word during production in un-aired video last year. Following this incident the presenter was given his final warning and told he would be fired anywhere anytime if he made another offensive remark.

Then there was the whole Argentina scandal which has become something of a running joke throughout this series – watch for the placement of Argentinian flags in all of the episodes, last week’s was on the Stig’s suit. All the presenters and the Top Gear’s producers still claim the plate was not intentional.

Jeremy Clarkson also tweeted last month that he needed a new co-presenter on Top Gear, whether this was a joke or had some genuine meaning behind it is unknown.

“Wanted: new presenter for Top Gear. Applicant should be old, badly dressed and pedantic but capable of getting to work on time,” he wrote.

Despite all the previous dramas though, Top Gear has never been postponed due to conflict. We just hope that it does continue and that we do get to see the LaFerrari vs McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 test that we were promised would happen in last Sunday’s episode.

Jeremy Clarkson to sign three year deal with Top Gear

    Top Gear

Rumour has it Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will continue to make Top Gear for at least another three years.

It’s been quite a controversial past twelve months for the world’s favorite car show Top Gear, though the show must go on according to British newspaper the Mirror.

The controversy started when a video which allegedly showed Clarkson mumbling a racist term was leaked, fuelling calls to sack Clarkson and axe Top Gear. Then there was the whole Argentina episode with the offensive number plate which Top Gear and its hosts still claim wasn’t done on purpose as a poor attempt at humor. And of course, there’s always the ecomentalists – as Clarkson calls them – who want the show stopped because burning fuel, tyres and the occasional caravan in the name of entertainment just isn’t ethical, apparently.

But despite these recent occurrences, Top Gear is still the BBC’s most profitable show and much of its success comes down to the three hosts so the executives will do anything to keep it going for as long as possible. And that means Top Gear should be around until at least 2018 if speculation that all hosts are in the process of signing on with the show for another three years is true, which is excellent news for anyone cars or who enjoys watching fat middle-age men fall over and drive around…

Zenvo cries foul over Top Gear review of the ST1catching fire (VIDEO)

Another day, another Top Gear controversy. This time, the boys from the BBC’s hit show haven’t enraged a country or British sensibilities – they’ve gone back to their old stomping grounds of upsetting car companies.
In last week’s episode of Top Gear (which is set to air in the United States on Monday), host and head agitator Jeremy Clarkson tested the Zenvo ST1, a wildly powerful new hypercar from Denmark.
    zenvo-top-gear-st1-review

Naturally, it all went very wrong. The car broke. Twice. The rear brakes weren’t functioning correctly and the clutch failed. In fact, Zenvo had to take their orange test car back for a time. When it returned, it caught fire after a cooling fan decided to stop functioning. It got worse for Zenvo, though.According to Zenvo, Clarkson later misquoted the starting price in the UK (by some 140,000 pounds, or $233,786) before handing the car to The Stig on a cold, wet track, where it returned a hairy lap time of 1:29.9 – slower than a Ford Focus ST.

    zenvo-top-gear-st1-review

Zenvo has issued a rather lengthy response to Danish website Pro Street, which we have available (auto-translated) in its entirety, below. According to the manufacturer, elements of the review were left out by Clarkson and Company, like the car’s 189-mile-per-hour blast down the TG track’s main straight and its 2.69-second run to 62 mph on “damp tarmac.”

The fire and clutch issues were also addressed before Zenvo got on to the lap time. According to the Danes, on the day of the Stig’s lap, “driving was not recommended in many parts of Britain due to low temperature and extreme rain. The weather conditions and the amount of water on the track severely reduced traction on the car’s 345/30 ZR20 rear tires, resulting in a lap time that does not reflect the real potential of the car in dry conditions.”

Zenvo ST1 Burns Rubber, And Itself, On Top Gear

It seems Zenvo are not only set on burning rubber.

The Danish brand Zenvo started producing this very exclusive car in 2009, and recently, Jeremy Clarkson got his hands on it. So naturally, in classic Top Gear style, it caught fire. Yikes.

    zenvo3

No biggie though. It only costs a cool $1.8 million. I’m sure there’s plenty where that came from. Oh, wait…

Production of the car is limited to only 3 a year, with only 15 being built for approved customers; and it seems the world has already lost one of them.

The Funniest and Silliest Car Quotes of 2013

It’s difficult being a celebrity, even if you’re a celebrity involved in the automotive industry. Everyone’s listening to what you’re saying but not because they’re interested. No, they’re just waiting for your next slip up so that they can turn it into a meme and ‘tweet’ it on. I’m no different, I will admit, and here are the automotive quotes that amused/annoyed me in 2013.

    1. Jeremy’s Basil Stunt

    clarkson tweet

When I say ‘Basil Fawlty’, ‘red Austin Countryman’ and ‘a twig’ you shouldn’t really have any doubts as to what I’m talking about. Jeremy Clarkson has used the classic scene from Fawlty Towers to lash back at his opponents on Twitter:

“Oh no. I’ve just heard that the scene when Basil Fawlty beat his car with twigs was FAKED. It hadn’t broken down at all.”

This came as a response to Michael Bott’s (an actor whom nobody knows) attempt at outing Top Gear as fakers. They apparently staged a scene on the River Avon as they came in a homemade hovercraft past a group of diners enjoying a riparian picnic. It appears that the diners (who ended up totally wet in the process) were actors. In this case, BBC decided to back the naughty trio by reminding the critics that “Top Gear is an entertainment programme.”

    2. James is Slow – That’s Official

    Clarkson & May

I just had to include another one by Clarkson because his quotes, unlike the moronisms that come out of some CEOs’ cakeholes, are actually funny. What is especially funny is the grief he’s giving James May about the latter being too slow. He’s picked up on the fact on more than one occasion and here’s two that are bound to make you chuckle:

“It took less time to invent that car than it did for him to go around the track” (on James May doing a lap in Bugatti Veyron).

“Tonight, James goes fast for the first time in his life” (5 mph).

There are other resources collecting Clarksonisms if you want to pick up a pub gag or two.

    3. Akerson Apparently Talks Himself into an Early Retirement

    ceo-akerson

Ever since the bolshie telecoms man Dan Akerson was made a CEO of General Motors, it has seemed that his favourite pastime is trying to tarnish his own and GM’s image. Most of the times he talks as if he had no clue what he’s talking about; and his dissing of competitors is both annoying and pathetic. One of his most famous quotes is:

“They are trying like hell to resurrect Lincoln. Well, I might as well tell you, you might as well sprinkle holy water. It’s over.”

That’s what he said about Ford’s luxury division back in 2011. Now we all know that his prediction was untrue. Lincoln is going from strength to strength despite the fact that their new grille design is atrocious.

Akerson’s latest quote came as part of a sneak-peek into the development of what’s supposed to be the 2nd generation of Chevy Volt. He was quoted to say:

“We want it to be a moon shot so we can surprise the competition!”

as he made comment on the predicted driving range of the new vehicle. He said it would be a compact car capable of 200 miles on a single charge and indicated that this would be possible because of the agreement with a battery startup Envia Systems who’d promised to deliver a battery based on the latest technologic breakthroughs. As it turned out, this was a massive gaffe because the quote was made after GM had begun a cancellation process of its contract with Envia Systems citing “material misrepresentation”. The chaps behind the superbattery – Dr. Purnesh Seegopaul and Dr. Sujeet Kumar (don’t forget the “doctor” bit when addressing them) are now facing two lawsuits – for misrepresentation and for stealing intellectual property.

    4. What Happened Between the Two Carloses?

    carlos-tavares-and-zoe

The Chief Operations Officer of Renault Carlos Tavares made a bad mistake when interviewed by Bloomberg. He alluded that he’d like to see the CEO of Renault Carlos Ghosn retire so that he can take Ghosn’s place. Tavares was quoted to say:

“We have a big leader and he is here to stay. Anyone who is passionate about the auto industry comes to a conclusion that there is a point where you have the energy and appetite for a No. 1 position.”

No surprise that shortly after the interview, Mr Ghosn summoned an emergency meeting, even attended by French government officials. The Socialist French Government who owns 15% of Renault is always very touchy when it emerges somebody within the company is rocking the boat. It was an unanimous decision that Tavares has to go after more than 30 years with Renault. What is Tavares going to do now? Ghosn though he’d dispatched of the rebel and had had the upper hand, however, it was announced that Tavares had been appointed a CEO of Ghosn’s fiercest competitor – Peugeot Citroen PSA. Who’s got the last laugh now?

    5. Why Clicking Fingers Has Never Solved Traffic Problems

    Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin

Our current Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin knows the drill when it comes to dishing out funny quotes. If calling the new high-speed railway network an “essential heart bypass for Britain’s clogged train network” is not figurative enough for you, here’s what he said about the UK transport problems in general:

“We need better roads too, to keep cars, trucks and buses moving…” (thanks for stating the obvious) “…you can’t just click your fingers to solve it [transport problems]. You need to think big and hold your nerve for decades.”

    6. Embrace Your Bodies for the Ecclestones

    Tamara-Ecclestone

Some of the best quotes of 2013 have come from the Ecclestone family. It was certainly important news when one of the ‘heiresses’ – Tamara Ecclestone announced she’d do Playboy. Those who were brave enough to buy the said issue of the magazine were slightly disappointed because Tamara was covered in some weird white stuff. Not a proper nude picture if you ask me. When questioned about the moral aspects of posing for Playboy she said:

“I am so proud of this beautiful shoot. As a woman, I believe you have to embrace your body, and feel beautiful both inside and out.”

But we’ll finish with one of Bernie’s latest quotes. As you might have heard, he’s facing bribery charges. Here’s what he said regarding the prospects of spending next 10 years of his life in a cosy German prison cell:

“If I get sent to jail I will have to deal with it. But I don’t think I will like it very much.”

    Nobody could’ve said it better!

The trouble was that as I belted round, I’d been trying to deliver my pieces to camera, and I hadn’t managed to complete a single one without interrupting myself with a sudden, wide-eyed “******* hell”.

“This car,” I’d say, “has a 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 which produces… ******* hell.” Then later, through Eau Rouge: “The feel of the steering puts me in mind of the feel you get from a Ferrari 458. It feels light and yet… oh, ******* hell.”
