More People Should Consider Buying Used Luxury Vehicles

    used-luxury-vehicles

Buying a used luxury vehicle might seem antithetical, to some, to the very concept of luxury driving. After all, one of the best parts of luxury is to own a thing that is brand new, that most people haven’t seen, can’t afford, or don’t even know about yet. Used luxury vehicles, though still very nice in their construction, performance, and design, can seem less…elite. Some people like luxury vehicles for the status symbol element of ownership. But this is a very limiting way to think about these vehicles. Below, we’ve got a few steps in an argument in favor of used luxury cars and tips for buying a used car.

A relationship with a luxury vehicle should not be a one-sided deal, with the car doing all the work. Luxury vehicles are achievements in design and engineering. They’re complex. Just because they’re complex, though, doesn’t mean they don’t need maintenance and upkeep. Many of these vehicles assume that the owner will be someone capable of maintaining these vehicles to the degree necessitated by their design. When buying used, you will undoubtedly find yourself with a vehicle in need of some service, however slight. By learning how to do this work, you will be setting yourself up for a long and fruitful relationship with your car. It’s a relationship that isn’t necessarily built with a brand new vehicle which doesn’t need love the moment you drive it off the lot.

Furthermore, used luxury vehicles will almost always save you a lot of money. Some of this savings is directly related to the work that will have to be done to make a used vehicle drive its very best. Expertise is, again, a great asset here. When you research and really know your chosen model inside and out, you will be able to negotiate an amazing deal for yourself, because you truly know what the car is worth. Finding a used Mercedes-Benz for sale is just the first step. Negotiating the best price is the real doing.

Finally, buying used means that you have the whole history of car manufacturing available, not just the recent models that are held on the typical dealership lot. You can find cars anywhere, from sellers of all kinds. If it has been manufactured in years past, it’s probably available for sale somewhere not too far from you. Opening yourself up to used cars gives you endless options, and it’s the way that drivers find vehicles that truly represent their personal styles and tastes. The limited options available from a dealer will only be able to do these things so much.

There are loads of reasons to buy used, but the ones above are some of the most important. One of the best assets for the person seeking a used car is time. You have to take the time it takes to find the perfect vehicle for your needs. With hard work and perseverance, you can seek out the perfect make and model for your complex needs. Give it a try and we think you’ll be happy you did.

New Range Rover Sport SVR Drifted (VIDEO)

    New Range Rover Sport SVR

New high performance Range Rover SUV gets sideways in latest promo video.

Land Rover is about to launch its most powerful and dynamic model ever in the form of the new Range Rover Sport SVR – a supercharged apartment building on wheels that is claimed to handle like a sports car.

Built as a rival to the ballistic performance SUVs from BMW M, AMG and Porsche, the new Range Rover packs 550hp and can hit 62mph in 4.7 seconds. And because the V8 is taken straight from the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, it sounds exceptionally naughty with all kinds of exhaust crackles and pops which we must remember are falling out of the back of a seven-seat family SUV – the whole idea is hilarious.

The idea of a seven-seater also being able to drift around a racetrack is a similarly entertaining one. The big boxy Range Rover looks quite absurd sliding around a corner with an arm full of opposite lock dialed up, but you do have to admire the team that have worked on the new SVR for having a sense of humor and engineering that kind of adjustability into a luxury SUV. I mean, realistically who’s going to drift their SUV during the school run or during a trip to the shops for milk and biscuits? And who’s actually going to take their Range Rover to a racetrack? Surely if you can afford to buy the range-topping SVR, you can afford a Porsche or something else a bit handy at track-work… Anyway, enjoy the Range Rover Sport SVR doing some skids.

    New Audi Q7 revealed

    2015 Audi Q7

Second-gen Audi Q7 luxury SUV to debut in Detroit.

Audi has revealed its all-new second-generation Q7 flagship SUV ahead of the model’s public debut at next month’s Detroit motor show.

The new model is smaller, less flabby, and significantly more fuel efficient than the outgoing Q7 which has been doing the school run for around eight years.

The exterior design of the new Q7 is altogether more aggressive than the outgoing model which features much softer and rounder lines. With sharp, square lines and a new three dimensional grille similar to that adopted by the new Q3 range the new model certainly looks more sporting than before.

Weighing up to 325kg less than the car it replaces, the new Q7 features an aluminum intensive body structure with lightweight components used throughout, so should also be more dynamically capable than before.

The second-gen Q7 is also 37mm shorter in length and 15mm narrower with a 10mm shorter wheelbase compared to the current model, though Audi claim interior space has actually increased with more head and leg room for first and second row occupants. The new model will still be offered in 7-seater form.

Inside, the new flagship SUV has been fitted with a fresh and futuristic dashboard design fitted with Audi’s new digital instrument display, as well as Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto systems.

Initial engine options will include a 3.0-litre diesel V6 with 268hp which is said to be around 23 per cent more efficient than before and capable of hitting 62mph in 6.3 seconds.

A 328hp supercharged petrol V6 will also be available and can hit 62mph in 6.1 seconds.

All models feature and eights-speed automatic gearbox connected to a Quattro all-wheel drive with a 40:60 front-rear torque split.

Shortly after launch a plug-in hybrid model will arrive featuring a diesel engine and electric motor to give 369hp and around 166MPG with an all-electric driving range of around 35 miles.

World’s Most Expensive RV Sold In Dubai

    EleMMent Palazzo

If you’re rich, Dubai is the place to go if you want to feel normal. It’s the city wherecops drive supercars, and the government toys with banning poor people from driving to relieve road congestion.

It’s not too surprising, then, that the world’s most expensive RV was recently sold in Dubai. The 40-foot-long EleMMent Palazzo from Austrian company Marchi Mobile changed hands for around $3 million, according to BoldRide. Apparently, money doesn’t buy an understanding of proper capitalization.

It doesn’t buy style either. The EleMMent Palazzo looks like an alien spacecraft, or perhaps two different vehicles fused together by some mishap involving tampering with the spacetime continuum. At least it’s covered in gold, which should help the new owner explain the colossal pricetag.

    Screen Shot 2014-08-06 at 08.14.35

On the inside, this extravagant recreational vehicle contains more than meets the eye. It comes with a pop-up rooftop terrace and cocktail lounge, plus a fireplace, master bedroom, and underfloor heating. The master bedroom (with its own bathroom) and cockpit are actually on the second of two levels.

Despite carrying all of the weight of a large apartment, the EleMMent Palazzo can reportedly reach a top speed of 93 mph. Its unclear what powertrain allows it to reach that speed. Maybe it’s powered by the hopes and dreams of the working class.

    Screen Shot 2014-08-06 at 08.13.08

It may seem outlandish and grotesquely extravagant, but in the city that saw the debut of the 750 horsepower Lykan Hypersport and the 5,000 hp Devel Sixteen supercars it should fit right in.

Rolls-Royce reveals the Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection

    2014-rolls-royce-phantom-drophead-coupe-waterspeed-collection

Rolls-Royce has finally unveiled its new special edition Phantom Drophead Coupe built to commemorate the triumph of Sir Malcolm Campbell in his Rolls-Royce-powered Bluebird K3 boat in setting the world waterspeed record back in 1937, a time when Rolls-Royce-powered vehicles held speed records on air, land and—thanks to Campbell’s efforts—water.

It was unveiled today at a private event held at the site of the original Bluebird Motor Company (now the Bluebird Restaurant) in London and will be shown in public for the first time at the 2014 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este on May 23. The Lake Como event is fitting as it was on the adjacent Lake Maggiore where, on September 1, 1937, Campbell established his legend, setting a record of 126.33 mph (his highest speed achieved was 129.5 mph).

    2014-rolls-royce-phantom-drophead-waterspeed

Called the Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection, the car celebrating the achievement has been approved by Campbell’s grandson (Donald) and great grandson (Joe), and will be built in a limited run of just 35 examples.

The car is finished in a specially developed Maggiore Blue exterior paint, named after the lake where the record was set and inspired by Bluebird’s original color scheme. Nine layers of paint are applied before an exhaustive process of hand-sanding and the application of a special powdered lacquer. For the first time in Rolls-Royce history the exterior finish extends to the engine and even the wheels.

But that’s not the only Rolls-Royce first featured here. Echoing the cutting-edge technology employed in the construction of Campbell’s Bluebird K3, Rolls-Royce has selected a number of materials never used previously on one of its cars. One is brushed steel, which features on the deck and was also used on the original Bluebird K3. The deck alone takes 80 hours to produce, while the coachline, complete with Bluebird motif, takes another four hours to apply by hand using a squirrel hair brush.

    2014-rolls-royce-phantom-drophead-coupe-waterspeed-collection_100466746_l

Inside, a number of elements matching the Maggiore Blue exterior finish can be found. There are also hand-engraved door sills and armrest accents, Abachi wood dash accents, and a hand-embroidered panel for the glove box expressing the records Campbell achieved. Other highlights include the power reserve dial made to match the one on Campbell’s Bluebird K3 and a clock adorned with Bluebird’s infinity symbol. Finally, the steering wheel is presented in two-tone for the first time.

No performance-related changes have been made in the powertrain department, so all 35 Phantom Drophead Coupe Bespoke Waterspeed Collection cars will come with a 453-horsepower 6.75-liter V-12 mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Awesome 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S Quick Drive (VIDEO)

    2014-aston-martin-rapide

The 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S is possibly the best four-door in the world.

It doesn’t quite top out the charts in many individual specs, but, as is so often the case with sports cars, the whole is greater than the sum of its 0-60 mph times and horsepower figures.

In fact, if you’re the type of person that can’t find something pretty close to supreme enjoyment piloting the Rapide S along a twisty road, we probably can’t be friends.

Why? Because beyond the 550-horsepower V-12 engine, the 190 mph top speed, the Bilstein adaptive damping system, and, of course, the four doors, lies the heart of gentleman’s sports car.

This isn’t a race-bred, fire-breathing, vertebrae-compacting demon; it’s a car that benefits from all of those lessons, but filters them through finishing school and a few decades in high society. It’s large, and it’s a bit heavy, but it’s surprisingly light on its feet.

    2014-aston-martin-rapide_100437368_l

In fact, in most ways, it feels every bit the sports car the two-door Vanquish does, but at the same time, the Rapide S is more refined and comfortable in everyday driving thanks to the more spacious cabin, longer wheelbase, and revised suspension tuning.

Steering feel isn’t a primary reward of driving the Rapide S, but it’s there, if muted. The brake pedal is almost annoyingly long and soft at all times, making pedal modulation difficult in sporty driving (but smoothing out low-speed parking lot maneuvers), and the button-operated six-speed automatic transmission is neither the most telepathic nor athletic slushbox on the market. But somehow, the car’s innate balance and poise strike a chord with the rumbling wail of the V-12’s mix of induction and exhaust noises. The result is two-metric-ton sports car that’s five metric tons of fun to drive.

Sure, the back seat is tight and the $199,950-plus price tag equates to a mortgage on a nice house in some parts of the country, but those are, ultimately, irrelevant facts. Those lucky enough to be able to afford a Rapide S will not care.

    2014-aston-martin-rapide

Why? Look at it. The curves, the angles, those muscular haunches. The Rapide S experience is visceral even before you touch the car. It exudes automotive pheromones, quickening the pulse and dilating the pupils. It’s a sports car, with four doors. And it’s an Aston.

Rolls-Royce Show Off Nautical-Inspired Phantom Drophead Coupé

Rolls-Royce has revealed a sketch of the upcoming Bespoke Waterspeed Collection, a series of 35 Phantom Drophead Coupés, which according to the automaker, pay tribute to “British daring and endeavor.”

More specifically, the collection is dedicated to the water speed record set on September 1 1937 by Sir Malcolm Campbell on Lake Maggiore on the Swiss-Italian frontier.

Using a Bluebird K3 hydroplane boat powered by Rolls-Royce’s R-Type engine, Campbell set a record of 129.5 mph (208.4 km/h), breaking the United States’ five-year stranglehold on the world waterspeed record.

As homage to Campbell and his boat, the Waterspeed Collection for the Phantom Drophead Coupé will feature “the finest contemporary materials never used before on a Rolls-Royce,” including brushed steel complementing an exclusively developed Maggiore Blue color scheme, and hand-crafted wood inlays on the bodywork.
