Fast and Furious 8 set for 2017 premier

    Fast and Furious 8

Fast and Furious 7 has only been in cinemas for a few weeks and it seems its creators are already gearing up for the next Fast and Furious 8 movie.

Last weekend Fast and Furious 7 became the fastest movie in history to generate $1 billion in revenue, so it’s no surprise Universal Studios is keen to keep the cash train moving. A tweet from the official Fast and Furious 7 Twitter account has confirmed that the next instalment in the franchise is due to hit cinemas globally on Friday the 14th of April 2017, just under two years from now. This latest news comes after Vin Diesel who plays the character Dominic Toretto said in an interview that “Fast and Furious 7 was for Paul, eight will be from Paul.”

Obviously plot details are very limited at the moment, but without the late Paul Walker who has played the movie’s main character for almost fifteen years the next movie will likely be very different from previous instalments. Early hints from Vin Diesel suggest Fast and Furious 8 might be based in New York. We’ll no doubt learn more details in the coming months.

Fast and Furious 7 breaks box office records

    Fast and Furious 7

Fast and Furious 7 has become the quickest film in history to generate over $1 billion in revenue.

The latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise has broken box office records, becoming the quickest film ever to generate $1 billion. In the less than three weeks since Fast and Furious 7 hit cinemas globally, the movie has generated around $1.15 billion.

Furious 7 includes the late Paul Walker’s final on-screen appearance and filming for the movie wasn’t not completed before his untimely death. Following the accident, the script for Furious 7 had to be rewritten, and Paul Walker’s brother Cody was used for some scenes as well as a CGI version of Paul.

Despite losing the main character, it’s believed there will be an eighth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise. Co-star Vin Diesel who was very close with Paul Walker has alluded to the fact that there will be more Fast and Furious films. He said “seven was for Paul, eight is from Paul.”

Behind the scenes on that Fast and Furious 7 plane drop scene (VIDEO)

    Plane drop scene

The creators of Furious 7 have launched a new video that goes behind the scenes of that epic plane drop scene, and it’s awesome.

If you haven’t already seen the extended trailer for Furious 7 which shows the plane drop scene go and watch it here, then come back. OK, you’re back, now you can check out how that scene was filmed at 12,000 feet above the ground in a new video launched by the creators of the seventh Fast and Furious movie. And it is awesome. There are no computer generated images (CGI) at all, they literally got the cars they needed, gave them parachutes and launched them out the back of an aircraft carrier along with a group of very brave camera men.

So those few seconds where you see under the Dodge Challenger as it plummets towards the earth were filmed by a bloke sitting under the car. It’s extremely cool.

The Fast and Furious 7 movie hits cinemas in under a months time on April 3, starring Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, The Rock, Jason Stratham and the late Paul Walker.

Check out the video below, and to read more about the upcoming Fast and Furious 7 movie, click HERE.

Mad Max: Fury Road First Trailer Released (VIDEO)

Mad Max is back! The first trailer for the fourth installment of the series, Mad Max: Fury Road, was shown during the recent Comic-Con event, and it looks like the new movie has all the right ingredients to be another hit. Only this time Max is played by Tom Hardy rather than Mel Gibson, but original director George Miller is there as well as original writer Nick Lathouris and comic book great Brendan McCarthy.

Filming for the new movie took place primarily in Namibia, although it’s—presumably—set in Australia, where the previous three movies were. Other actors starring in the movie include Charlize Theron, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz and Australian model Megan Gale.

    Screen Shot 2014-07-29 at 18.44.26

For those unfamiliar with the legend of Mad Max, it’s about a retired police officer by the name of Max Rockatansky. He lives in a dystopic world where the remaining humans battle for resources, mainly fuel. In Mad Max: Fury Road, the battle is for water.

Just as popular as the human characters were the vehicles, including Max’s choice of ride, a coupe version of the 1973 Ford Falcon sold in Australia that was converted into the ‘Interceptor’ for its role in the movie.

The current release date for Mad Max: Fury Road is May 15, 2015.

TRANSFORMERS 4: AGE OF EXTINCTION Trailer

Moviegoers may currently be caught up in the new Godzilla movie that premieres this week, but a new trailer released for the fourth installment of the Transformers franchise shows that the radioactive lizard may not be the only dinosaur-like movie star going up on children’s walls this summer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKD5SNYUpUk

But in addition to the big hulking robots, the new trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction also reveals some sexy cars, including a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. Of course, we already knew the Lambo would be starring in the movie alongside some other exciting four-wheeled machines.

    Screen Shot 2014-05-15 at 19.05.08

These include a classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS, a unique Camaro concept based on the fifth-gen car, a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, a Corvette Stingray andSonic RS rally car, a Pagani Huayra, a military truck from Oshkosh Defense, aFreightliner Argosy and a Western Star truck from Daimler Trucks North America, and even the latest 2015 Chevy Trax.

TRANSFORMERS 4: AGE OF EXTINCTION Trailer

We still don’t have all the details on the plot, but it appears government agencies once again want to rid the world of the Transformers and may have discovered a potential weakness of the robots. At the same time, the lead character, played by Mark Wahlberg, discovers something that quickly has both the government and the Transformers after him.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction hits theaters  on June 27, 2014. In the meantime, watch previous trailers for the movie here and here.

Chewbacca racing an AC Cobra is a sight to behold! (VIDEO)

Chewbacca sighting at autocross in an AC Cobra

“May the fourth be with you,” said every Star Wars geek at least a dozen times last weekend. Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of crossover between Star Wars geeks and car geeks, especially the kind who like to spend their weekends driving fast cars around small parking lots. Sometimes, that geek-squared mentality yields moments of greatness.

This is one of those times.

There’s really nothing to this aside from Chewbacca taking a ride in David Lousteau’s AC Cobra clone around an autocross course in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Star Wars Day. To get ahead of the safety nuts among you: yes, Chewbacca (Kenny Hiegel) was wearing a helmet under his outfit. (And yes, he appears to have a very weak neck).

And yes, this was even more awesome to see in person.

Movies VS Real NY City Street Locations

    Movies VS Real NY City
Lets face it, New York is the most famous city in the world, and just about anywhere you go there has been a blockbuster movie  filmed there at one point.

Christophe of Gourgangeek  decided to visit famous movie locations around New York and match up film scenes with the everyday locations.

What you see is brilliant and quite the juxtaposition.

    “Captain America” — Times Square

“The Avengers” — Grand Central Station

    “Ghost” — Wall Street

    “Madagascar” — Grand Central Station

“The Dark Knight Rises” — Wall Street

Need For Speed Sucks – Here’s Our Top 10 True Petrol Head Movies

So, the new Need for Speed movie is being panned by critics. What do you do now? Watch some decent driving movies, of course.

It seemed like a strange first movie for Aaron Paul after finishing up with Breaking Bad, as it was never going to be a critically acclaimed masterpiece many actors strive to star in. Currently at 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, the plot seems brain dead, and the characterization is poor; which are pretty vital when it comes to cinema. Based upon the gaming series, it seems the only thing it shares is the name, and the concept of driving cars really fast. The action sequences seem to be the only redeeming factor, which is a real shame considering the potential that was there.

So take a look at our top 10 alternative movies for real petrol heads, for the adrenaline fueled experience you truly crave.

    10. The Italian Job (1969)

Don’t even think about the remake, as it is nothing in comparison to the glorious original. Minis, Minis, and More Minis, alongside classic quotes and the role that sent Michael Caine into super stardom.

    italian

    9. Days of Thunder

Trading his planes for cars, Tom Cruise attempts to take the NASCAR circuit by storm. It may not be an obvious choice, but still remains a good watch if you fancy some 90s driving action.

    dot

    8. The Bourne Trilogy

Perhaps not a car focussed film in essence, but it definitely has enough high speed chases to keep you fuelled on adrenaline. Combine this with a great plot, some immense action sequences, and Matt Damon at his finest, watching this trilogy is time well spent.

    bourne

    7. Cars

Pixar came to the rescue of all fathers out there, sick of watching kids movies. A true homage to NASCAR and classic cars you will recognise, it’s a film that people of all ages can enjoy. Don’t be fooled by the childish exterior; it’s a pretty damn good movie underneath. Plus, Michael Schumacher makes a cameo appearance. Enough said?

    cars_2_characters_w1

    6. Speed

Keanu Reeves may not be everyone’s cup of tea, with expressionless acting, but this role landed him his more famous role as Neo. How do you keep a city bus at over 50mph to prevent an explosion? Speed answers all your questions.

    speed

    5. Drive

A recent entry, Drive has gained a cult status, remaining one of Ryan Gosling’s best movies. Starring alongside Carey Mulligan, Gosling puts on a great performance on his way to gaining a professional driving contract, but ends up being cinematic genius. Definitely worth a watch.

    drive

    4. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

If you are a fan of Will Ferrell, why haven’t you seen this yet? After Anchorman (and maybe Step Brothers), this is undoubtedly one of his finest films. Chocked to the brim with his classic sense of humour, alongside many NASCAR-based jokes, it’s not one to be missed. It’s also a chance to see Sacha Baren Cohen of Borat fame in another hilarious role.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

    3. The Transporter

Any film with Jason Statham in tends to be a thrill ride, that’s for sure. Don’t expect an intricate plot, but who needs decent storyline when you have Statham kicking bad guys Matrix-style, when he’s not out-driving them?

    trans

    2. The Fast and The Furious (2001)

I don’t think there’s any argument that this has been the quintessential racing series for over a decade, whether for good or bad when looking at the mediocre sequels. There is also no argument that the original entry was by far the best, capturing the true spirit of street racing, and coming before the over saturation in the market that Need for Speed is looking to capitalize on.

    faf

    1. Bullitt

A classic movie for every petrol head. This film led to Steve McQueen popularizing the Ford Mustang Fastback single-handedly, and also led to some of the most celebrated car chases of all time. McQueen became the epitome of cool through this role, and it’s not hard to see why.

World’s Largest Collection Of Bond Cars Now For Sale (PHOTOS)

In 2011 Miami real estate investor Michael Dezer bought dozens of cars used in the James Bond films from the Bond Museum in Keswick, England. Since then, he’s added to the trove which now stands at 59 cars, as well as motorcycles, boats, jetskis, tanks and thousands of photos, posters and memorabilia. It is the largest collection of 007 cars in the world, and Dezer has put it up for sale for 20 million pounds ($33.25M US) – the caveat is that you have to buy the entire collection.
    aston-martin-v8-james-bond
But what a collection it is. Among the six Aston Martins are the DB5 from Goldeneye, the Vanquish from Die Another Day and both V8s from The Living Daylights. There is also the Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me – not the Esprit submarine that Elon Musk bought last year at auction, but the pre-dive roadgoing car. The new owner of the collection will keep things up to date with the Audi A5 and the Land Rover Defender 110 from the opening scene of Skyfall, and properly varied with the dragon tank from Dr. No, the Fairey Huntress yacht in From Russia with Love, and the chopped-in-half Renault 11 from A View to a Kill.Land Rover Defender Skyfall Aston_Martin_V8_Volante_living_daylights aston-martin-james-bond

Check Out The Incredible Cars Of RoboCop!

With the latest movie release of the classic RoboCop franchise, it is only fair that we show you the ass kicking cars and motorcycles of RoboCop...

    Robocop 4
Whether the original Ford Taurus, in all of its car-of-tomorrow glory, or the Pontiac-needling 6000 SUX stuck in your mind, RoboCop enjoys a place on the car guy’s movie list. But the RoboCop reboot, in theaters now, is less a car movie than the original and there is, we’re sorry to report, no 6000 SUX.

Why? Well, RoboCop Production Designer and vehicle designer, Martin Whist, told Motor Trend. “The current RoboCop isn’t has far in the future as the original film was. So the cars need to be designed for the near future.”

Because of this, here are the RoboCop motors kicking ass…

    RoboCop’s Motorcycle

    Detroit Police Cruiser

    OmniCorp Armored Truck

    Alex Murphy’s Car

    Clara Murphy’s Car

    Detroit Police Hatchbacks

    OmniCorp Troop Transport

    The Rest
If you look closely, you can pick out a number of other vehicles throughout the movie. OmniCorp also uses lightly modified Dodge Durangos as security vehicles and RoboCop is occasionally driven around in a modified Chevy Suburban. One of the bad guys drives a supercar, though only a portion of it is visible in the frame. It appears to be an Audi R8. Another rocks a first-gen Porsche Cayenne. Then there are the little Easter Eggs. “There’s a few that I got for background,” says Whist. “I got these Japanese cars and some European cars that just had a different look you don’t see in North America. A lot of them were just place-them-in-the-background cars.”

Footage Of US Troops Throwing A Terror Suspect Into The Back Of A Van Is Like A Movie Scene! (VIDEO)

Footage Of US Troops Throwing A Terror Suspect Into The Back Of A Van Is Like A Movie Scene! (VIDEO)

Gawker reported that Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Rugai was captured when he was heading home from morning prayers. Rugai is accused of having a role in the 1998 African embassy bombings, which resulted in over 200 deaths. Also a close friend of Osama Bin Laden, the U.S. had been hunting Rugai for 13 years.

The video which is a ere opening reality of things we are only used to seeing in movies, shows two white vehicles cornering Rugai’s sedan on a street curb. Next, three people jump out of a van with guns drawn as one car blocks Rugai’s escape and a third car waits down the street.

The footage was captured by a nearby security camera. Check it out above…

‘Mater’ The Pickup From Pixar’s Cars Is Real And It Does Colossal Burnouts (VIDEO)

Okay, so this is just a fan copy of Mater from Pixar’s Cars, but it looks the real deal and it does epic burnouts.

The replica truck is a 1950 International built by Mark Gibbins down in Oz, aka ‘Land of the Hoon’. It regularly makes the finals of their burnout summer festival Summernats. Here’s a Summernat summary of the Truck in the finals…

“You won’t see this 1950 International V8 tyre-shredding tow truck at Disney on Ice, but if there’s ever a Disney on Burnout Pad, watch out!”

Lightning McQueen can learn a thing or two from rusty old Mater. That is one colossal burnout!

Top 10 Car Movies to Watch Before You Die

Screen Shot 2014-01-23 at 14.10.30Choosing the best 10 car movies to watch is no easy task, but the guys over at BigMotoringWorld have attempted to create a list, how much do you agree?

You may not agree, but even if you take away just one movie from this list, it has been a worthwhile venture. We are here to rejoice in that which is the one and only automobile.

If you are not happy with what we have to tell you, then venture to Big Motoring World Reviews & Complaint Resources, and try your luck there… You’re going to get the same answer. Our word is gospel, so take it like a man (or woman) and make your way through the 10 motoring movie commandments, in reverse order:

    10. Cars (2006)

    None

It had to have a spot in the top ten, not just to please everyone, but it’s pretty
deep… for a kid’s movie. The hotshot race car named Lightning McQueen ends up in Radiator Springs, where he finds the true meaning of friendship and family. Awwww.

    9. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
    None

Based on a book written by Ian Fleming, and with a script written by Roald Dahl… How could this film possibly fail?

This is more than likely the most endearing caricature of a car… Ever! With Herbie coming in a close second place, of course. Haven’t we all dreamt of having our very own flying car?! A great movie, and we all like a bit of cheese every now and then, and Dick Van Dyke makes the movie!

    8.American Graffiti (1973)
    None

A classic through and through, this spot was a fight between American Graffiti and Grease. The perfect storyline for a Sunday afternoon viewing, where a couple of high school grads spend one final night cruising “the strip” with their best buddies before they go off to college.

    7. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
    None

A great movie, with motoring movie madness at its core.
Ricky quickly soars to the top of NASCAR by achieving fame and fortune at Dennit Racing. Starring Will Ferrel and Sacha Baron Cohen, these are the perfect comedy match. There is rivalry, there are fast cars, there is a semi naked Ferrel… But don’t let that put you off!

    6. James Bond (1962-Present)
    None

There is always room for Bond… James Bond. There is no particular film to be listed here; all of them deserve a good watch. This secret agent has been used in the longest continually running and the second-highest grossingfilm franchiseto date. These films are renowned for their technology, music, and of course their cars.

    5. The fast and the furious (2001)
    None

One of the most popular motoring movies of the 21st Century, with numerous sequels, which have been hugely successful all over the world. Full of action, women and cars… What more could you want from a movie!

    4. Death Proof (2007)
    None

Quentin Tarantino strikes again. This movie was part of a double feature and collaboration with Robert Rodriguez.  In this movie, two separate sets of women are stalked at different times by a scarred stuntman, who uses his “death proof” car to kill his victims. This is one not to miss; it is typical modern cult movie at its best.

    3. Drive (2011)
    None

Who doesn’t like Ryan Gosling?! He is one of the major stars of today, and shines in this role. This film features some incredible cars, and even better scenes with them. The chase scene in this film is one of the best car scenes of this century.

    2. Christine (1983)
    None

Stephen King novel, with an even better movie transformation. Every one wants a car like Christine… Or do they? You may want a stunner, but this car comes with a catch, when a nerdy boy buys this strange car with an evil mind of its own.
    Scary stuff.

    1. Bullitt (1968)
    None

Dodge Charger, tough guy with leather gloves, accomplice with unyielding eyes Ford Mustang Fastback, and Steve McQueen at the wheel… Oh yes! This is the perfect and timeless car movie. Even if you don’t watch any of the other movies in this list, go out any buy this one. It never gets old, and you can’t go wrong with the king of cool, Steve McQueen.

There are so many more movies you really should see, not to mention ‘Back To The Future‘, Herbie in ‘The Love Bug’, ‘Transformers‘ and ‘Senna’  (wow, we should create another list!) but get started on this list and you can die a happy car lover.

Best stunt: When the impact of Bonds machine gun forces the last car in the chase over the cliff side.

    4. Lotus Esprit, The Spy Who Loved Me

    Chase Location: Beautiful Sardinia, Italy

Gadgets: submarine, rockets, underwater rockets, oil slick delivery, mines

Aston Martin DB5 vs Ferrrari, GoldenEye

    Chase Location: Monte Carlo, Monaco

Gadgets: no gadgetsThe car is then fitted with an Alpine 7817R car radio that doubles as a printer and communication device to head office.  The champagne cooler between the seats is the piece de resistance.

Best Stunt: Bond racing his DB5 down a steep mountain road against Bond baddie Xenia in her striking red Ferrari 355 GTS. Bond is asked to “Stop this car at once” by Caroline, the woman sent to evaluate him. Cue, cool Handbrake stop, smooth lines of seduction and hidden champagne on ice.
