Nissan trolls Ferrari by offering Deadmau5 a replacement to the “Purrari”

    Deadmau5 nyan cat ferrari

DJ superstar Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) is becoming a controversial figure in the past week.

You must have seen the infamous Purrari by now, right? It’s a Ferrari 458 Italia convertible designed as a tribute to the internet meme, the Nyan cat, in the most over the top car wrap EVER.

However, it seems Ferrari aren’t too happy with the DJ as a “cease and desist” letter by Ferrari of North America in an attempt to restore the 458 to its original white coloured wrap. Basically get rid of the Nyan Car design forever.

Despite going through a legal battle with Disney at the moment over his Deadmau logo (similar to Mickey Mouse), Zimmerman wasted no time letting his feeling known on Twitter.

We’re sad to see the Nyan cat go but good guys Nissan quickly came to the rescue and them this sick Nyan Cat Nissan GT-R below.

Now, that is Nissan trolling Ferrari on social media to the max.

Not The Bees! 20,000 Bees Swarm Car (VIDEO)

No way would I go near this car. Not a chance. This is what nightmares are made of.

An unfortunate motorist in Portsmouth, England, has had to face this monstrosity. 20,000 (don’t try counting) bees migrating from an old hive, finding the wheel arch a more than adequate new home.

Sure, bees may be endangered, but what can you do in this situation?

Burn it. Burn it now. Watch below.

Is Nissan’s Dirt Repellent Car Paint The Future? (VIDEO)

Could the Nissan Note really be the world’s first self-cleaning car?

Nissan have always been at the forefront of imaginative thinking and innovation, but this kind of tech isn’t something I’d expected. But it looks fascinating, and could save us the daily grind of cleaning cars. For the most part, at least.

By repelling mud, rain, and dirt, the cars of the future could remain clean without intervention. It’s a revolution.

By coating half of a Nissan in their new paint, with the old on the other, they demonstrated how effective this new technology could be.

If you don’t believe me, check out the images and video below.

The Nissan Rinspeed XChange Self-Driving Car Will Be On The Roads For 2020! (VIDEO)

Sounds really good guys. Will be more efficient in terms of work load too by the sounds of it. Also, their 'Ebay Today' feature will make it easier in finding which content to pin. It looks like a great offering! Worth discussing how we split our time up for the next 30 days too. Ebay/Blog/Our Own Pins/ Store/Other stuff.

We have all seen the sci-fi movies with the self driving cars, and just like most of those movies, the awesome tech becomes a reality at some point. Nissans Rinspeed Xchange self-driving car prototype is about to blow your mind.

The self-driving car is currently on display at the Geneva Auto Show 2014 but it could be on our roads in 2020!

This car drives itself, with a wheel that floats to the center of the console when the car goes into auto mode. This leaves passengers free to pass time spent on the road however they please.

    How cool is this!

The Story Behind The Worlds Fastest Nissan GTR (VIDEO)

The Story Behind The Worlds Fastest Nissan GTR (VIDEO)

AMS Performance is in the business of making fast cars much faster. More specifically, they’re best known for taking the Nissan GT-R and tuning it to insane levels of power and performance. They do this while also keeping the cars streetable.

DON’T MISS: 2015 Subaru WRX Video Road Test

This team has the distinction of producing the GT-R examples to run in the nine and eight second range in the quarter mile. They’ve also fairly recently managed to push their Alpha Omega GT-R down into the seven second range.

They’re doing this by producing nearly 2,000 horsepower from the motor, reinforcing the axles, and running the gear with a drag suspension and wheel tire setup. Still, they also drive the car around town calmly… even if the parachute is occasionally still attached to the rear end.

The AMS team recently put together a video that takes a look at the history of their build process with the GT-R. It also dives into the performance figures they set out to achieve, how they achieved them, and also examining what they’d like to do in the future. It’s a great look at an impressive car. How impressive you ask? How does 0-60 miles per hour in 1.72 seconds sound? The Alpha Omega can also blow past 200 miles per hour in a half a mile. Still, these guys occasionally take it on runs for lunch through the local fast food stops.

The Nissan GT-R Gets Even Faster

    Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R Gets Even Faster
Nissan is known for its solid family vehicles, but sometimes the company can surprise you. According to a recent press release, their 2015 GT-R Nismo has just set the fastest lap time ever for a production car at Nürburgring. According to Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, “With a 7:08.679 lap time, we can authoritatively say that the Nissan GT-R NISMO* holds the volume production car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which is the gold standard of high performance achievement.”

    Screen Shot 2014-02-04 at 17.38.51

However, we probably shouldn’t be so surprised with this result. Since it was launched in 2007, the GT-R has developed a reputation for burning up the pavement. The car only takes 2.7 seconds to go from 0 to 60 and the top speed is capped at 196 miles an hour. In fact, this car is known as Godzilla, and it’s a pretty accurate description. To be clear, you can buy faster cars, but it’s going to cost you a staggering amount of money. The only two production cars that top it are the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 918 Spyder – both of which are eye-wateringly expensive. On the other hand, you can pick up a GT-R for around $100,000, which is less than 1/10 of the price tag of a Veyron. In fact, you might even be able to get a better price if you look at TrueCar on LinkedIn.

However, it’s true to say that the car that set the record at Nürburgring is not a plain-vanilla GT-R. The folks at Nismo – Nissan’s high-performance motorsport engineering division – took the standard GT-R and worked their magic on it. To start with, they turbocharged the engine, which raised the available power to 591 hp from 542 hp. The torque also went up by an extra 16 lb ft when they did this, making the Nismo version even faster off the line than the regular GT-R. They also played around with the engine timings and made changes to the air intakes and exhaust. Finally, the car is running on a set of Dunlop tires that give it extraordinary traction. All in all, what Nismo has done to the car is extraordinary – and the results at Nürburgring prove it.

    Nissan GT-R

The mind-blowing thing is that this really is a production car. Although the 2015 GT-R is not available yet, February will see it starting to ship in Japan, and the US is slated to follow shortly after that. However, Nissan is only planning to produce a limited number of the special GT-R version – in fact, production this year is going to be limited to around 200 vehicles. The other question of course is how much it is going to cost when it does arrive. To date, Nissan has not put any prices on the table, but it’s a fair bet that you will pay about 50% more for this version than you would for the standard one. That would bring the car in at around $150,000 – which is still not a bad price for one of the fastest cars in the world.

What’s In The Box Amazon? Is This The First Amazon Car Delivery?

    Are Amazon Delivering Cars

    Are Amazon Delivering Cars
Back in September, reports started rolling in that Amazon would get into the auto sales business after a promo for the Nissan Versa Note appeared on the online retailer’s page. That link didn’t actually sell a car, but instead acted as a referral service for potential customers, linking them up with dealers. A recent image that’s been floating around on Reddit and that was picked up by The Huffington Postthough, has us wondering if Amazon has dived into the actual business of selling cars, rather than just referring people to dealers.

The image, above, shows an enormous Amazon box on the back of a flatbed tow truck. According to HuffPo, this could be one of the cars sold through the earlier promotion for the Versa Note (which was sweetened with the addition a $1,000 Amazon gift card). Apparently, three of the Versas purchased would arrive in such a fashion. Then again, this could all be nothing more than an elaborate publicity stunt. Amazon is, after all, the company has been touting drone delivery of its goods.

What do you think is in the box?

Should These ‘Top 10 Classic Cars Of Tomorrow’ Really Be On This List?

Should These 'Top 10 Classic Cars Of Tomorrow' Really Be On This List?

Should These 'Top 10 Classic Cars Of Tomorrow' Really Be On This List?
Let’s start this off by saying the folks at Hagerty know classic cars. They know them really well, and that’s why they’re good at pricing them, insuring them, and generally understanding the world of collector cars from minor muscle machines to top-flight European exotics. So when we hear that Hagerty had just put out a list highlighting the new vehicles that it feels should be considered future classics, we expected to be in total agreement. We aren’t.

The rules: They must be new cars and they must start below $100,000. Out of ten on the list… we agree with about three of them. Maybe four.

Let’s go through this list one vehicle at a time, shall we?

    1. Jaguar F-Type R

    2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe

No question, an easy pick and we would put it atop our list as well. However, we feel this one gets in by the skin of its teeth based on the rules. Hagerty is going off MSRP, but if you find someone who had actually paid just $99,000 for this crazy kitty we’d be shocked. Your author has driven a V8 S… which wore a sticker price of $104,000.

    2. BMW M5 Sedan

    2014 BMW M5

Not a chance. If the E39 M5 hasn’t made the leap yet, then the latest iteration won’t either. We’re not saying the E39 won’t get there, because it definitely will… but it’s not there yet. If you have your eye on owning one though, you’d better do it now. As for the current car, just wait for it to depreciate… massively.

     3. Chevrolet COPO Camaro:

    2014 Chevrolet COPO Camaro

Instant collectible. It’s produced in small batches, so its limited availability makes it instantly desirable for collectors.

    4.  Maserati Ghibli S:

    Maserati Ghibli

You know how much current collectors love theoriginal Ghibli… wait, they don’t? Ah, got it. Look, the old Ghibli is a pretty cool looking machine, and the new car is, well, actually rather excellent, but it’s no future classic. No one will be pining for a vintage (current) Quattroporte 25 years from now, and no one will be pining for the baby version either.

    5.  Alfa Romeo 4C:

    2014 Alfa Romeo 4C

    Yes, a thousand times yes.

    6.  Chevrolet Corvette Stingray:

    2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible

This will inevitably be a future classic, but that’s practically cheating. It’s going to take some time, of course, but it will eventually get there. Buy one for your great grandkids… because you’re not likely to see it rise in value in your lifetime.

    7.  Nissan 370Z NISMO:

    2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO

Nope. The 240Z? Come to papa. A 1984-1989 Z31 300ZX? Maybe someday. The twin-turbo Z32? There’s a chance, but we’re a ways off. The 350Z? Never. The 370Z is a great leap over the 350Z, and it’s a blast to drive… but we don’t see folks clamoring for them in the future.

    8.  Dodge Challenger Shaker:

    2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker

The future generation will probably opt for the 370Z Nismo before it spends serious coin at an auction block for a modern Challenger. This is just another thing that the old Challenger does better than the new Challenger… bring bucks at the auction block for years to come.

    9.  Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X:

    2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X

The most confusing choice on the list. All those CJ5 and CJ7 Jeeps aren’t forecasting too strongly, so why should the Rubicon X? Think 4.0-liter I6-equipped Jeeps, not 3.6-liter units (even though that engine is WAY better than the last one Chrysler stuck in there).

    10.  Ford Fiesta ST:

2014 Ford Fiesta ST (Euro spec) - First Drive, March 2013

This one… actually could happen. The Fiesta ST could be one of those once in-awhile something-special machines that flies in out of nowhere, impresses everyone who touches it, and leaves us far to quickly. We hope that’s not the case, but it’s highly probable.

So there you have it. That’s the Hagerty list, and that’s how we feel about it. We’d just like to reiterate that Hagerty typically knows what it’s talking about… so we could be way off. What do you think? Sound off below.
