Listen to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro V8 (VIDEO)

    2016 Camaro

Chevrolet has teased the soon to be revealed 2016 Chevrolet Camaro muscle car, releasing a video giving us our first taste of its V8 engine.

Chevrolet has confirmed its new 2016 Camaro will be revealed on May 16 with the first teaser video released. The video doesn’t show or reveal much but does give us our first listen to the new m0del’s bellowing V8 engine.

The motor in question is most likely the same 6.2-litre LT1 unit from the C7 Corvette developing around 450hp, and the video confirms a manual transmission will be offered. Whether it’s the same seven-speed stick-shift as the Corvette or the six-speeder from the current generation Camaro is anyone’s guess.

Other engine options in the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will likely include a V6, while a four-cylinder turbo model to rival the mustang Ecoboost is unlikely. The 7.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 from the current Z28 model won’t be used, as it’s unlikely to meet emission and fuel consumption regulations. Though the Corvette ZO6’s 620hp supercharged V8 may feature in the future in a ZL1 or Z28 model.

The design of the new-generation 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be an evolution of the current muscle car, with a long bonnet, rear-set cabin and narrow letter-box style glass. Indoors, the Camaro will likely feature a retro-style cabin like the current model, but with better quality materials.

This latest Camaro may also be offered in right-hand-drive for the U.K, Australian and Asian markets like the new gene ration Mustang – fingers crossed.

Porsche Cayman GT4 driven and drifted (VIDEO)

    Porsche Cayman GT4

Chris Harris takes to the track in the new Porsche Cayman GT4, the fastest and most track-focused Cayman to date.

We’re only three months in, but this is possibly the most hotly anticipated car of 2015. It’s the Porsche Cayman GT4, the car that finally takes the Cayman – regarded by some as Porsche’s sweetest steering model – and turns up the volume to eleven.

Since the mid-engine coupe was introduced some ten years ago there has been a suspicion that Porsche was deliberately holding back its performance to protect the more iconic and expensive 911. Not anymore, because Porsche has given the Cayman to its motorsport division – the people responsible for the 911 GT3, the GT3 cup car and the slightly mental GT2 RS from the 997 generation 911. The GT car engineers know how to make a car go, steer and stop better than anyone else in the business, so the Cayman GT4 should be pretty good.

In terms of its power and straight line performance it seems just a rung above the lesser Cayman GTS, but actually this is more or less a whole different animal. It’s got the larger 3.8-litre flat six engine from the 911 Carrera S producing 375hp in this application instead of the standard 3.4-litre. Suspension has been changed completely, the entire front axle is borrowed from the bigger 911 GT3 and the rear suspension has been re-designed and re-engineered. The carbon ceramic brakes are also taken from the GT3.

The only thing that hasn’t been dramatically changed from the Cayman GTS is the gearbox. Ah yes, the most appealing thing about the new GT4 for some will be the fact that it’s only available with a six-speed manual gearbox. The GT4’s ‘box features shorter throws and a more precise feeling, say Porsche.

So what does all this machinery look like in action? We’ll let Chris Harris show you…

New Range Rover Sport SVR Drifted (VIDEO)

    New Range Rover Sport SVR

New high performance Range Rover SUV gets sideways in latest promo video.

Land Rover is about to launch its most powerful and dynamic model ever in the form of the new Range Rover Sport SVR – a supercharged apartment building on wheels that is claimed to handle like a sports car.

Built as a rival to the ballistic performance SUVs from BMW M, AMG and Porsche, the new Range Rover packs 550hp and can hit 62mph in 4.7 seconds. And because the V8 is taken straight from the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, it sounds exceptionally naughty with all kinds of exhaust crackles and pops which we must remember are falling out of the back of a seven-seat family SUV – the whole idea is hilarious.

The idea of a seven-seater also being able to drift around a racetrack is a similarly entertaining one. The big boxy Range Rover looks quite absurd sliding around a corner with an arm full of opposite lock dialed up, but you do have to admire the team that have worked on the new SVR for having a sense of humor and engineering that kind of adjustability into a luxury SUV. I mean, realistically who’s going to drift their SUV during the school run or during a trip to the shops for milk and biscuits? And who’s actually going to take their Range Rover to a racetrack? Surely if you can afford to buy the range-topping SVR, you can afford a Porsche or something else a bit handy at track-work… Anyway, enjoy the Range Rover Sport SVR doing some skids.

Koenigsegg One:1 Supercar Comes With Cloud Connectivity And Custom App

Koenigsegg One:1 Supercar Comes With Cloud and App

These days developing the world’s premier supercar takes a lot more than simply ensuring you have the quickest acceleration or highest top speed or most outrageous styling. Today, supercar brands need high-tech interfaces and connectivity options just as much as they need horsepower, and one of the most advanced in this field is Sweden’s Koenigsegg.

Koenigsegg is presenting at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week its limited edition One:1 supercar, whose 1,340-horsepower output makes it the most powerful production car on the planet and potentially the fastest too. But the One:1 isn’t all about brute power as it also has a pretty sophisticated suite of electronic goodies.

Working together with fellow Swedish firm Telenor Connexion, Koenigsegg is offering with its new One:1 cloud services, a web interface and an app for smartphones and tablets. The various services will enable owners to remotely track their car, its fuel level and battery status as well as access the latest software.

Koenigsegg, too, will be able to access the cars remotely, allowing it to optimize settings, install new software and monitor vehicle health all from its headquarters in Ängelholm, Sweden.

Some specific services, which are destined to be offered with future Koenigsegg models in addition to the new One:1, enables owners to get direct access to statistics such as recent runs, average speed, top speed, lap time, g force etc. They can also adjust the height of the rear wing, the firmness of the suspension, adjust the temperature, and even open the doors and windows.

“Our target market is demanding global customers who want the best-of-the-best,” Koenigsegg CEO and founder Christian von Koenigsegg said in a statement. “Telenor Connexion was the obvious choice for connecting our cars, with their broad and extensive experience in connected automotive solutions.”
