Bad Super Bowl Bet Cost This Ford Dealership $300k (VIDEO)

A Missouri Ford dealership’s Super Bowl weekend sale cost it big when the improbable happened. Hutcheson Ford ran a promotion from January 29 to February 1, called the Super Weekend Sale. The gist was, if any customer purchased a vehicle between those dates and either the opening or second-half kickoff of the big game was returned for a touchdown, the dealership would refund the purchase price.Backfired: Hutcherson Ford promised to refund the price of any vehicle if either half of the Super Bowl started with a kickoff return for a touchdown
In the dealership’s defense, it seemed like a safe bet. According to the mathematicians, there was just a 2.5-percent chance of either half opening with a touchdown return. But that didn’t stop Seattle’s Percy Harvin from doing his part to ruin Denver’s evening, returning the second-half kick for an 87-yard touchdown run. Twelve Hutcheson customers were eligible for refunds thanks to the return, with prices ranging from $10,000 to $55,000, according to Automotive News. The total amount shelled out by the dealership? $300,000.

Never forget: Hutcherson Ford VP Michael Tucker says he will never forget Percy Harvin, but will make the promotion an annual event

“At least we’re not like that furniture guy that lost $7 million,” dealership marketing manager Kathleen Frazier told AN. We think it was a big success.” The dealership did take out insurance to cover its losses, meaning the $300K won’t come entirely from its pockets.

Touchdown: Percy Harvin's return for a touchdown cost a Missouri car dealership more than $300,000

Need For Speed Airs Extended Super Bowl Commercial (VIDEO)

    Need for Speed Trailer
    Need For Speed movie

Sunday’s Super Bowl saw a new 30-second spot air for the upcoming Need For Speed movie, starringBreaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul. But what you may not have seen yet was the extended, 90-second trailer that went live online last night. The other item of news is NFS’s release date – the new flick will hit theaters on March 14.

While the Super Bowl ad was almost totally devoid of dialogue in favor of accelerating cars, this extended spot has a lot more going for it. There’s more dialogue, although not enough to really get an idea of what’s going on. The car selection still looks first rate, although more than a few vehicles meet unfortunate ends. Based on the commercial, we should expect some big stunt pieces, as well. Besides the 30- and 90-second spot, there is a short series of Vine-length clips from each trailer.

Based on the comments towards the first trailer we showed you of Need For Speed, most of you aren’t expecting Best Picture nominations for this flick. Take a look below at each clip and see if they’re enough to change your mind. Post your thoughts in Comments.

Lying in Wait? Maserati Plugs Ghibli Sedan in Whispered, Sneaky “Strike” Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO)

Think Maserati was messing around when it revealed plans to seriously amp up its global sales presence? Things should have looked pretty serious after the Italian automaker recently introduced not only a new Quattroporte, but the smaller and less-expensve Ghibli this year alone.

Well, America, consider yourself served, because Maserati’s surprise Super Bowl ad (embedded below) not only was pretty cool, but also put the Ghibli on a couple million TV screens while looking cool.

Bob Dylan To Star In Chrysler Super Bowl Spot [VIDEO]

Billboard reports that Bob Dylan will be working with Chrysler again, this time starring in a Super Bowl ad expected to showcase the company’s new 200 sedan. The rock icon first tied up with the Chrysler Group late last year when a commercial for the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee used Dylan’s unreleased cover of Blind Willie Johnson’s “Motherless Children” for its soundtrack.

To reacquaint yourself with the songster, below you’ll find that 2007 Chrysler commercial and the 2013 commercial for the Cherokee.

Danica Patrick Gets ‘Buff’ For New GoDaddy Super Bowl Commercial (VIDEO)

NASCAR’s Danica Patrick’s risqué new GoDaddy commercial for the 2014 Super Bowl is definitely not what her fans were expecting.

Too many protein shakes? It’s one hell of a transformation – what do you think carhooters – real or fake? 😉

Volkswagen Engineers Shoot Rainbows Out Of Their Butts In New Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-p0BdUB5o

Ever open up a new Volkswagen and wonder why there are feathers stuck in it? I haven’t, but maybe other people have.

VW’s latest attempt to sell customers on longevity without actually having new cars to promote in 2014 centers around the idea that the bad experience you had with your high school girlfriend’s buggy Jetta are no longer representative of the brand.

Audi Reveals Doberhuahua-Themed Super Bowl Ad For The 2015 A3 (VIDEO)

    Audi A3 Dog Superbowl Commercial

What does the 2015 Audi A3 have to do with a dog? They both star in Audi’s new ad for the Super Bowl taking place next week. We’re not talking any old dog, though. The dog featuring in Audi’s ad is a Doberhuahua, a mixture of a Doberman and a Chihuahua.

The Doberhuahua is the result of a couple wanting two different dogs and compromising on one dog with the combined features of the other two. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Audi wants to portray to buyers of its new A3 that they won’t have to compromise on anything.

While the ad portrays the Doberhuahua as a little scary, there’s nothing overly ferocious about the A3’s base 1.8-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine–which produces 170 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque–or the optional 2.0-liter version with 220 hp and 258 lb-ft. Both engines comes with a six-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system is standard.

The base price of $30,795 (including destination), isn’t too scary either. That puts the A3 in the ring with the similarly-sized Mercedes-Benz CLA250, which was the star of its own Super Bowl commercial last year.

On television screens, Audi will compete with Volkswagen and Jaguar, which has drafted its own team of “British Villains” to ensure commercial domination. Oh, and apparently some people will be playing a game of football while all this is going on.

The Big Game kicks off February 2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Be glad you won’t have to endure the likely cold temperatures, or the post-game traffic.
