Dodge Charger Hellcat does over 200mph (VIDEO)

    Dodge Charger Hellcat

Dodge claims its new Charger Hellcat is the fastest and most powerful production sedan the world has ever seen, here it verifies its 204mph top speed.

There are some crazy fast sedans currently on the market, including the bonkers V8 AMG-powered Mercedes’, BMW M cars, Audi RS models and even the Cadillac CTS-V. But none punch harder or go faster (probably because the other cars have speed limiting devices fitted) than the 204mph Dodge Charger Hellcat, pushing 707hp from its 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine.

Dodge claim it to be the quickest, fastest and most powerful production sedan ever built – capable of covering the quarter mile in 11.0 seconds, hitting 204mph flat out and delivering 707hp.

The video below shows the Charger Hellcat in its final phase of development, undergoing high-speed testing. The development car in the video is identical to the final production car in every way and averaged a top speed of 204.55mph in a two way high-speed run. It truly is supercar pace. The fact that it only costs $63,995 in the United States makes it one of the best bang-for-your-bucks performance cars in the world. If only it was available in right-hand-drive….

Lexus GS F super sedan revealed

    2016 Lexus GS F

New BMW M5 rivalling Lexus GS F revealed ahead of the 2015 Detroit motor show.

Lexus has taken the wraps off its new flagship performance sedan, the GS F, ahead of the model’s official public debut in Detroit next week. The new model will battle with the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 and Audi RS7 in the high-horsepower sedan segment when it goes on sale later this year. However, the Lexus may be turning up to a gun fight with nothing but fists and knives as its arsenal. Because, while the Lexus GS F’s 5.0-litre V8 offers more displacement than its BMW and Audi rivals, it produces around 100hp less.

The GS F employs the same naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 fitted to the recently launched RC F performance coupe, but with 467hp and 389lb-ft the motor gets no power boost in this larger sedan application. Performance figures are being kept quiet for now but we’d be very surprised if the Lexus could keep an M5 or E63 in its rear view mirror in a straight line drag race with both German cars offering more than 100 additional horsepowers and a massive slug of extra turbocharged torque.

Like all Lexus F models the new GS is strictly rear wheel drive only and features an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. An electronically controlled torque vectoring rear differential with three different modes has also been fitted, while the base GS structure has been stiffened for more precise handling.

The GS F rides on 19-inch multi-spoke alloys wrapped in 275/35 rear tyres and 255/35 fronts. Other visual enhancements include new headlights with three distinctive clusters as well as ‘tick’ shaped day-time running LEDs. A more aggressive front bumper has also been fitted and matched to a new rear diffuser with quad stacked exhaust tips. Indoors, the GS F is fitted with sports leather seats with Alcantara and carbon fibre trim pieces.

The new Lexus GS F will be revealed in full at the Detroit motor show next week.

    New 640hp Cadillac CTS-V revealed

    2015 Cadillac CTS-V

New 2015 Cadillac CTS-V is a Caddy for the racetrack not the golf course.

Cadillac has revealed its new super saloon weapon to take on the autobahn storming Germans and it’s packing some serious firepower. Set to be unveiled at next month’s Detroit auto show, the new model will of course be powered by a big American V8. But unlike the last CTS-V which had a supercharged V8 from the Camaro ZL1, the new model gets the fire-breathing LT4 6.2-litre supercharged V8 from the new Corvette Z06 and makes a whopping 640hp and 640lb-ft.

The motor is a total monster and easily out-classes its German rivals in terms of outright grunt. The most powerful BMW M5 to date develops 600hp, while the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG makes do with 585hp and both cars take more than four seconds to reach 60mph. The new Caddy takes just 3.7 seconds. And where the German cars are all fitted with speed-limiters, the American car does without and can top 200mph. This thing should be an absolute weapon.

Power goes through the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox which is hooked up to an electronic rear limited slip differential. The car is also fitted with adaptive dampers, while a monster brake package has been fitted to support the 200mph top speed claim. Front discs are 390mm and clamped by six-piston calipers with 19-inch alloys fitted as standard. Cadillac claim torsional rigidity of the sports model is up 25 per cent compared to the standard sedan while curb weight is 1880kg.

Visually the performance model gets new front and rear bumpers which are more aggressive than standard while an agro carbon fibre bonnet with power bulge and ventilation has also been fitted.

Indoors the new CTS-V can be optioned with Recaro sports seats and a Performance Data Recorder to provide telemetry and video from track days.
