Your favorite supercars drag race at VMAX 200 (VIDEO)

    VMAX 200

Porsche 918, LaFerrari, Koenigsegg One:1, and a load of other crazy supercars hit their top speeds drag racing at VMAX 200.

This weekend the VMAX 200 event was held in the U.K at an old airfield that’s often used to performance test quick cars. VMAX 200 is an event open to the public where drivers can push their cars to their limits racing down the runway against other drivers. The cars include Nissan GT-Rs, Audi R8s, McLarens, Lamborghinis LaFerrari and Ferrari 458, Porsche 918, Bugatti Veyron, Pagani Zondas and even a couple of Koenigseggs including the 1360hp One:1.

While the runway isn’t long enough for all cars to reach their absolute top speeds but most of the really quick ones were able to reach speeds in excess of 180mph. And the insane Koenigsegg One:1 managed over 220mph – still someway off its theoretical v-max of 270mph.

The video below gives you a behind the scenes look at the event from the perspective of Car Throttle founder and CEO Adnan Ebrahim. It even includes a passenger ride in the Porsche 918 Spyder and appearances from Youtube supercar celebrity Lord Aleem.

LaFerrari, Ferrari Enzo, F50 and F40 on track (VIDEO)

    Ferrari supercars

Ferrari celebrates its legendary test driver Dario Benuzzi by tossing him the keys to some of the brand’s most exciting supercars.

This is one of the few times where you’ll see all of Ferrari’s greatest ever hypercars on track at the same time. We’re talking the new boy LaFerrari, legendary Enzo, the amazing F50 and the breathtaking F40 all sharing the Fiorano test track. These are Ferrari’s rarest, most extreme cars ever. They’re poster cars that defined their generations.

The reason Ferrari has decided to crack open the vault and get these four incredible machines is to celebrate its long-serving test driver Dario Benuzzi. Benuzzi has been at Ferrari since 1971 and he’s driven everything from the 288 GTO to the utterly insane FXXK LaFerrari race car. He’s played a crucial role in defining how every Ferrari of the modern era drives, and you’d have to say he’s done a pretty damn good job.

As a thank you to the cool Italian driver, Ferrari let him drive the LaFerrari, Enzo, F50 and F40 on track. Naturally, all cars are finished in Rosso Corsa red. To get those four cars on track at the same time is a proper bucket-list sort of thing and an awesome way to say thank you.

Check out the awesome Ferrari video below.

What’s Jeremy Clarkson doing with this Corvette Z06?

    Jeremy Clarkson Corvette

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has posted an image of a C7 Corvette Z06 on Twitter sparking rumours that he’s filming again.

What exactly is Jeremy Clarkson doing? Since the fracas with a Top Gear producer and the demise of the show as we know it, Clarkson has been hinting that we haven’t seen the last of him. A few weeks ago he met with co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond as well as former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman. And with that information its believed the four are planning to start their own motoring show in a similar format to the Top Gear so many know and love.

Now we might have the next piece of the puzzle with Jeremy Clarkson posting a picture of a Corvette Z06 and a film crew to his Twitter. The group appears to be at a race track too – the natural habitat of the Corvette – and if you look closely you can see a short man in the background that appears to be Richard Hammond. There’s also a big TV-grade camera and a few other random people.

Are they filming a segment for their new show that doesn’t even officially exist yet? Is it even a TV show that they’re planning? Could be a Youtube series, Netflix or DVD? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

New Top Gear hosts to be Jodie Kidd, Guy Martin and Philip Glenister

    Jodie Kidd

If reports out of the UK are to be believed, Top Gear’s reinvention for 2016 will include a new female host alongside motorbike superstar.

The Sunday Express is reporting that the BBC has signed its new hosts of Top Gear as the show gets reinvented for 2016 after the Clarkson fracas which saw Clarkson, Hammond and May leave the BBC. If true, new Top Gear will be hosted by Jodie Kidd who currently presents The Classic Car Show, motorcycle legend Guy Martin from Speed with Guy Martin and Philip Glenister who currently hosts For The Love Of Cars.

The source of this information is claimed to have come from Top Gear producer Andy Wilman who was overheard speaking with singer and car nut Jay Kay. The source obviously is a little unreliable, especially given that producer Andy Wilman was spotted in public with Clarkson and the crew a few days ago and he’s tipped to join their new show.

The key to Top Gear’s success has always been the chemistry between hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May. Without those three, it’s unlikely the show can continue and be successful in its current format of car-based entertainment. One thing’s certain, the general public is very keen to see Clarkson, Hammond and May again whether as Top Gear or under some other banner.

Mad Mike’s wild new Mazda MX-5 drift weapon

    Mad Mike MX-5

‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett has revealed his new four-rotor Mazda MX-5 drift car for this year’s Formula D drift series.

The coolest thing about the Formula D drift series is that you can basically compete in any car you like, provided it smokes the rear wheels only and is fitted with all the requisite safety gear. Competing cars this year include a new Ford Mustang piloted by Vaughn Gitten Jr., a rear-wheel drive nitrous-injected V8 Volkswagen Passat steered by Tanner Foust, and Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S. There’s also some cool old-school JDM goodness with Nissan S15s and 180SXs competing. Basically, if you can drift it, you can drive it.

    radbul-43-553b97ded8a5f

This year Mad Mike will be piloting a highly modified NC Mazda MX-5 in the Formula D championship. It’s a race weapon built from the ground up by a company in New Zealand, packing a twin-turbo four rotor engine which develops over 1000hp on its low boost setting. The NZ-based tuning shop reckon it has the potential to dish out over 1500hp with the boost wound up. The insane power comes curtesy of two massive Garrett GTX40 turbos which were chosen for their smooth power delivery and lag-free characteristics. Of course, Mad Mike is no stranger when it comes to high-horsepower rotary engines – his old RX-7 drift car was also powered by a bonkers turbo rotary.

    radbul-61-553b981e6e324

Power in the MX-5 is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox, and suspension is all custom as you’d expect. The front and rear tracks are crazy wide and the ordinarily open roadster boasts a full roll cage and stripped interior with carbon bucket race seats.

The 1000hp MX-5 drifter promises to be one hell of a ride, especially when you consider how short the wheelbase is. Short wheelbase cars like the MX-5 are usually quite snappy when it comes to going sideways, making them harder to control. And with such a colossal power output Mad Mike will have his work cut out.

Speedhunters have more details and images of the wild Mazda MX-5 drifter.

Clarkson, Hammond and May meet with former TopGear producer

Clarkson meets with former TopGear producer

Former TopGear hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May have held a secret meeting with Top Gear producer Andy Wilman who quit yesterday.

The Top Gear lads Clarkson, Hammond and May have been spotted together for the first time since the Clarkson fracas along with Top Gear producer Andy Wilman.

Wilman, a longtime friend of Clarkson’s, officially resigned from his position as producer at Top Gear yesterday, sparking rumours that they may be planning a rival show to the original Top Gear which is set to be reinvented for 2016.

James May also officially resigned from the BBC last week, leaving only Hammond with a formal contract with the broadcaster. However, given the secret meeting held with the three presenters and producer Andy Wilman, it’s expected Hammond will follow his co-presenters move away from the BBC. At this stage all signs point towards the group starting their own motoring show in a similar structure to the Top Gear that we know and love only under a different name obviously. More details will likely come to the surface in the coming months.

Fast and Furious 8 set for 2017 premier

    Fast and Furious 8

Fast and Furious 7 has only been in cinemas for a few weeks and it seems its creators are already gearing up for the next Fast and Furious 8 movie.

Last weekend Fast and Furious 7 became the fastest movie in history to generate $1 billion in revenue, so it’s no surprise Universal Studios is keen to keep the cash train moving. A tweet from the official Fast and Furious 7 Twitter account has confirmed that the next instalment in the franchise is due to hit cinemas globally on Friday the 14th of April 2017, just under two years from now. This latest news comes after Vin Diesel who plays the character Dominic Toretto said in an interview that “Fast and Furious 7 was for Paul, eight will be from Paul.”

Obviously plot details are very limited at the moment, but without the late Paul Walker who has played the movie’s main character for almost fifteen years the next movie will likely be very different from previous instalments. Early hints from Vin Diesel suggest Fast and Furious 8 might be based in New York. We’ll no doubt learn more details in the coming months.

Lewis Hamilton takes delivery of McLaren P1 in Monaco (VIDEO)

    Lewis Hamilton McLaren P1

Lewis Hamilton has taken delivery of his brand new McLaren P1 supercar in Monaco just days after winning the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Current Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has treated himself to one of the world’s fastest and most exclusive supercars, the McLaren P1. Just 499 P1’s will ever be built, and this 903hp hybrid rocket ship can accelerate from 0-62mph in under three seconds and 0-184mph in around 16 seconds. This phenomenal performance comes curtesy of a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which is supplemented by a pair of electric motors to give a total of 903hp.

The P1 also features one of the most aggressive and advanced aerodynamic packages ever fitted to a production car, capable of delivering 600kg of downforce in Race mode. In Race mode the P1’s massive rear wing fully extends and the car lowers right down to the ground. In fact, the McLaren P1 is so extreme in its Race mode that it’s actually illegal to use this setting on the road.

Thanks to its electric motors, the P1 can also be driven in silent emissions-free electric mode for around 6 miles. Even without the V8 engine in use, the P1 is just as fast as a Golf GTI or Fiesta ST – both decently fast cars.

Lewis Hamilton took delivery of his unique McLaren P1 in Monaco earlier this week, just days after winning the Bahrain Grand Prix. The car is finished in a unique electric blue colour with special blue pinstripes on the wheels and body. Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton can be seen collecting the McLaren P1 in the video below (he’s the guy wearing the blue clothes and hat).

Homeless guy drives a Ferrari prank (VIDEO)

    Ferrari 458 prank

Another Youtube prankster has released a rich versus poor viral video, showing how restaurant workers react to a homeless guy in a Ferrari.

You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Just because someone dresses a certain way, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re poor or homeless. The viral video below shows what happens when a poor person attempts to dine at a fancy restaurant. Despite having the cash to pay for the meal, the supposedly homeless person isn’t allowed inside and is told to leave the premises. An hour later the same ‘homeless person’ returns in nice clothes and most importantly a new Ferrari 458 supercar. The reactions of the restaurant workers is priceless.

Justin Bieber buys million dollar Ferrari LaFerrari

    LaFerrari

Justin Bieber has bought himself a million dollar 960hp Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar, one of the fastest cars in the world.

Singer Justin Bieber has reportedly bought one of the most exclusive and expensive Ferrari supercars in the world – the limited edition million dollar LaFerrari hybrid.

In an interview with USA Today, Bieber confirmed that he had purchased the 960hp monster.

“I’m still driving my Ferrari. It’s a 458 Italia, and I just got the LaFerrari, it should be coming soon,” he said.

Only 499 LaFerraris will ever be built, but with Bieber’s history of street racing, reckless driving and DUIs, that number could soon be reduced to 498.

The LaFerrari is the fastest and most advanced road car ever to come from Maranello, featuring a 6.3-litre V12 engine and electric motors to give a combined output of around 960hp. The LaFerrari can hit 62mph in under three seconds, 186mph in under 15 seconds. Most ordinary fast cars can’t even reach 186mph.

McLaren P1 vs Nissan GT-R street race (VIDEO)

    McLaren P1 vs Nissan GT-R

When a McLaren P1 supercar pulls up alongside a Nissan GT-R at the lights the only reasonable thing to do is stage a little drag race.

The Nissan GT-R has long been one of the fastest accelerating performance cars in the world, capable of cracking 62mph in under three seconds. When it launched it was one of the few cars available to boldly claim a sub-three second sprint time, but with the arrival of the three hybrid hypercars from Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren the sub-three club has grown significantly.

The video below shows what happens when a 903hp McLaren P1 pulls up alongside a modified Nissan GT-R at the lights. This isn’t a proper drag race that’s truly representative of each car’s relative performance and neither cars used launch control. We also don’t know exactly how much power the GT-R is punching out or what specific modifications it’s running.

While the video isn’t completely representative, it is at least interesting to see what two seriously quick supercars can do to the average car with the throttle planted.

Check out the viral video below.

Note: the McLaren P1 didn’t appear to go full throttle until a second or so after the GT-R.

The best Paul Walker Fast and Furious cars (VIDEO)

Motoring website Edmunds counts down the top ten greatest Fast and Furious cars driven by Paul Walker.

The Fast and Furious movie franchise has given us some of the greatest and most iconic movie cars of all time since its inception in the year 2000. These movies, the early ones in particular, inspired a generation to start modifying their cars and while not always in good taste it brought modified car culture to the masses.

While Vin Diesel’s character Dom and his legendary Dodge Charger is like the series’ unicorn character – the one that appears in some state or another in every movie – Paul Walker’s character Brian has always driven some truly awesome machines.

Where Diesel’s character is all about old muscle cars and superchargers, Walker’s has a love affair with Japanese turbocharged pocket rockets. The only times he didn’t drive a Jap tuner car is 2 Fast 2 Furious where he swaps his Mitsubishi Evo 7 for a Yenko Camaro for the big jump onto the boat stunt. He also drove a Dodge Charger cop car and a few others.

Paul Walker’s character Brian always had a connection with the Nissan Skyline, which started in 2 fast 2 Furious where his silver R34 GT-R only appears for a few minutes, enough though to cement it in petrol head folklore.

So, which Paul Walker car did Edmunds pick as the greatest of all? Check out the video below.

The last ever Top Gear episode (VIDEO)

    Jeremy Clarkson

Unseen footage of the final Top Gear episode ever has been released following the sacking of Jeremy Clarkson by the BBC.

Fans of Top Gear haven’t been taking the news of Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking lightly. They haven’t gone completely insane like fans of One Direction member Zayne who quit the band on the same day of Clarkson’s sacking. Those fans have been taking sick days on the grounds of ‘compassion’ and even self-harming in some cases, which is a bit pathetic.

Top Gear fans have been much more reasonable. The end of the show as we know it is a great tragedy and there has been some general grieving on social media, but an inside look at what was to be the final ever episode of Top Gear should serve as a comfortable shoulder to sob on… It’s only a short clip about 1 minute in length but it is at least some new unseen footage that will be more than welcomed after having zero new Top Gear content for the last two weeks.

    Check out the video below.

James May’s priceless reaction to Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking – including exquisite pink hat.

OFFICIAL: Clarkson sacked by BBC from Top Gear

    Top Gear

Jeremy Clarkson has officially been sacked by the BBC after abusing a Top Gear producer.

The BBC has released an official statement regarding the Top Gear Clarkson scandal, which sees the presenter sacked.

54 year old Clarkson was on his final warning before getting involved in a physical altercation with Irish producer Oisin Tymon who was hospitalised following the incident.

    Tony Hall, Director General of the BBC released the following statement;

‘“It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract. It is not a decision I have taken lightly. I have done so only after a very careful consideration of the facts and after personally meeting both Jeremy and Oisin Tymon.

“Obviously none of us wanted to find ourselves in this position. This decision should in no way detract from the extraordinary contribution that Jeremy Clarkson has made to the BBC. I have always personally been a great fan of his work and Top Gear. Jeremy is a huge talent. He may be leaving the BBC but I am sure he will continue to entertain, challenge and amuse audiences for many years to come.

“The BBC must now look to renew Top Gear for 2016. This will be a big challenge and there is no point in pretending otherwise. I have asked Kim Shillinglaw to look at how best we might take this forward over the coming months. I have also asked her to look at how we put out the last programmes in the current series.”

Reports are suggesting that the BBC hopes to replace Clarkson with radio host and massive petrol head Chris Evans – who has an epic collection of Ferraris including a 250 GTO worth £12 million.

Previously Clarkson’s co-presenter’s Richard Hammond and James May refused to film the show without him. Whether they continue with the show or follow Clarkson into other ventures is unknown at this point.

It’s officially the end of the road for Top Gear as we know it. While the BBC is keen to keep the show going, Jeremy, James and Richard are essential to its success – their chemistry was the show. Most seem to think Top Gear is a car show, but it’s actually an entertainment program about three middle-aged blokes who happen to drive cars and talk about them. The cars weren’t the essence of the program, the people were. And that’s why it’s unlikely that Top Gear will be successful without those three hosts.

And I suspect they’ll need to reinvent the show in some way to avoid trying to replicate the Top Gear that we currently know and love. You only have to watch American or Australian Top Gear to realise that trying to be like those three guys doesn’t work and won’t for a very long time.

We can only hope that Clarkson, Hammond and May are picked up by another broadcaster to create the show people want to watch.

Ballsy LaFerrari owner laps Spa in the rain (VIDEO)

    LaFerrari

Ballsy Ferrari LaFerrari owner man handles 960hp rear-wheel drive monster wearing worn semi-slicks around a wet Spa race track.

Supercar owners often annoy me. Here’s why; a lot of the time supercars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens are driven by posers around congested cities where you can’t exceed 20mph. These are crazy fast performance cars designed to do well over 200mph, lap race tracks and demolish twisting country roads not sit in traffic on the way to a over-priced cafe that only serves soy-free, wheat-free gypsy nonsense. It’s total nonsense. Instead of lapping the race tracks of the world they’re lapping busy streets revving their engines unnecessarily in neutral to get attention.

And then there’s the problem of driver skill not being as fat as their check book…

However, there are people out there who drive their super fast, super expensive cars properly. The video below shows a bloke in his LaFerrari lapping on of the scariest, fastest and – at the time – wettest tracks on the Formula 1 calendar – Spa in Belgium. Clarkson drove a McLaren P1 in the rain at Spa back when he was still a Top Gear presenter and claimed in typical Clarkson fashion that some pooh may have come out. And that was on normal road tyres designed to be used in the wet.

This chap in his 960hp LaFerrari decided it would be fun to hit the soaked track on a set of worn Pirelli P Zero Corsas – which are pretty much a road-legal semi-slick.

We won’t give the full plot away, but he didn’t crash, made all other cars on track look they were driving in slow motion, and gave many dabs off opposite lock to keep control of the LaFerrari – even through the infamous fast Eau Rouge corner.

Check out the awesome video below.

Jeremy Clarkson will be sacked from Top Gear

    Jeremy Clarkson

British news reports that Jeremy Clarkson will be sacked from his position on Top Gear with an official BBC announcement pending.

The BBC is expected to announce the findings of its investigation into the fracas involving Clarkson and a junior Top Gear producer today, revealing the fate of Clarkson and Top Gear as we know it.

The Daily Telegraph is claiming to have inside information, reporting that the decision to sack Clarkson has been made but Top Gear will continue with a replacement host.

54 year old Clarkson was on his final warning before getting involved in a physical altercation with Irish producer Oisin Tymon who was hospitalised following the incident.

The Daily Telegraph reports; ‘it is understood a report into the so-called ‘fracas’ at a North Yorkshire hotel concluded that [the] presenter spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him.’

It’s believed the BBC finds itself with no choice but to end Clarkson’s career as presenter of Top Gear.

An official announcement regarding the future of Top Gear and Clarkson is expected to come from BBC Director General Lord Hall in the coming hours.

BBC reportedly offer terms for Clarkson Top Gear return

    Jeremy Clarkson

The BBC has reportedly prepared terms for Jeremy Clarkson’s return to Top Gear, though he’s unlikely to agree to them.

Apparently the BBC has drawn up terms which will see Clarkson reinstated as co-presenter of Top Gear, along with May and Hammond who refuse to film the show without the controversial Clarkson.

However, Clarkson’s return is entirely dependant on him agreeing on those terms, which is unlikely.

A report from the Daily Mail suggests that the BBC want an executive to be put in place as a ‘minder’ for Clarkson – basically a baby sitter who will make sure he doesn’t do anything else that may cause controversy.

A source inside the BBC said “I think that people do see a way to resolve this, and that is by putting someone strong in to manage the show and manage Clarkson. He is a brilliant broadcaster, everyone can see that.”

After a petition to reinstate Clarkson received almost one million signatures, it is believed BBC executives felt more inclined to resolve the problem rather than fire the presenter outright.

Meanwhile the BBC has released a rather aloof official statement regarding the Clarkson incident which said:

“Following last week’s suspension of Jeremy Clarkson, Ken MacQuarrie is now considering the evidence and will report to the Director-General on his findings next week.

“Once this has been considered, we will set out any further steps. The BBC will not be offering further commentary until then.”

Dodge Charger Hellcat does over 200mph (VIDEO)

    Dodge Charger Hellcat

Dodge claims its new Charger Hellcat is the fastest and most powerful production sedan the world has ever seen, here it verifies its 204mph top speed.

There are some crazy fast sedans currently on the market, including the bonkers V8 AMG-powered Mercedes’, BMW M cars, Audi RS models and even the Cadillac CTS-V. But none punch harder or go faster (probably because the other cars have speed limiting devices fitted) than the 204mph Dodge Charger Hellcat, pushing 707hp from its 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine.

Dodge claim it to be the quickest, fastest and most powerful production sedan ever built – capable of covering the quarter mile in 11.0 seconds, hitting 204mph flat out and delivering 707hp.

The video below shows the Charger Hellcat in its final phase of development, undergoing high-speed testing. The development car in the video is identical to the final production car in every way and averaged a top speed of 204.55mph in a two way high-speed run. It truly is supercar pace. The fact that it only costs $63,995 in the United States makes it one of the best bang-for-your-bucks performance cars in the world. If only it was available in right-hand-drive….

No Top Gear this week, reports Clarkson will be fired

    Top Gear

The investigation into Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson continues, with reports suggesting he hospitalised a producer.

The suits at Top Gear have released an official statement regarding next week’s show, stating that it will not air following an investigation into the actions of presenter Jeremy Clarkson who reportedly punched a producer.

The matter is currently being investigated by the director of BBC Scotland, and further episodes of Top Gear will be postponed until the investigation is complete.

Fans of the show are genuinely devastated, and an online petition calling for Clarkson to be re-instated has received in excess of 800,000 signatures.

Meanwhile, there have been reports claiming to have inside knowledge on what went down the day the controversial Clarkson made headlines.

It’s being reported by the U.K’s Mirror that the Clarkson’s swing hospitalized producer Oisin Tymon after calling him a “lazy Irish c***”.

Apparently Clarkson was angry after he and his co-presenters were ferried by helicopter from the Top Gear track to a film location about two hours away where hot food was not immediately available.

This incident lead to a lengthy dispute and the eventual punch. It’s believed Clarkson may have been intoxicated at the time.

It’s all looking pretty bad for Clarkson. If the rumours turn out to be true, he probably doesn’t deserve to keep his job.

Behind the scenes on that Fast and Furious 7 plane drop scene (VIDEO)

    Plane drop scene

The creators of Furious 7 have launched a new video that goes behind the scenes of that epic plane drop scene, and it’s awesome.

If you haven’t already seen the extended trailer for Furious 7 which shows the plane drop scene go and watch it here, then come back. OK, you’re back, now you can check out how that scene was filmed at 12,000 feet above the ground in a new video launched by the creators of the seventh Fast and Furious movie. And it is awesome. There are no computer generated images (CGI) at all, they literally got the cars they needed, gave them parachutes and launched them out the back of an aircraft carrier along with a group of very brave camera men.

So those few seconds where you see under the Dodge Challenger as it plummets towards the earth were filmed by a bloke sitting under the car. It’s extremely cool.

The Fast and Furious 7 movie hits cinemas in under a months time on April 3, starring Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, The Rock, Jason Stratham and the late Paul Walker.

Check out the video below, and to read more about the upcoming Fast and Furious 7 movie, click HERE.

Jeremy Clarkson suspended from Top Gear, show postponed

    Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended from the BBC’s Top Gear TV program and series 22 has been postponed.

The rumours suggest that Jeremy Clarkson threw a punch at one of the show’s producers after they had a disagreement. Top Gear’s creators have since suspended Clarkson from the show and the BBC has stated that the show will not air this Sunday with the series postponed until further notice.

Clarkson is no stranger to controversy, accused of using the n-word during production in un-aired video last year. Following this incident the presenter was given his final warning and told he would be fired anywhere anytime if he made another offensive remark.

Then there was the whole Argentina scandal which has become something of a running joke throughout this series – watch for the placement of Argentinian flags in all of the episodes, last week’s was on the Stig’s suit. All the presenters and the Top Gear’s producers still claim the plate was not intentional.

Jeremy Clarkson also tweeted last month that he needed a new co-presenter on Top Gear, whether this was a joke or had some genuine meaning behind it is unknown.

“Wanted: new presenter for Top Gear. Applicant should be old, badly dressed and pedantic but capable of getting to work on time,” he wrote.

Despite all the previous dramas though, Top Gear has never been postponed due to conflict. We just hope that it does continue and that we do get to see the LaFerrari vs McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 test that we were promised would happen in last Sunday’s episode.

2015 Geneva motor show highlights with Chris Harris (VIDEO)

    Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3

Internet star, professional hoon and tyre wrecker Chris Harris walks us round the supercar packed 2015 Geneva motor show.

The Geneva motor show is the biggest motoring event on the calendar, it’s where all the hottest and most exciting new cars are revealed for the first time and usually they’re fast cars. This motor show is basically an ideal place for manufacturers to show off their most technologically advanced performance models and compete for the spotlight. You can usually tell who’s ‘winning’ the Geneva motor show by how many journalists turn up to each manufacturer’s press announcements. When ever a new Ferrari is unveiled people tend to pay attention – reveal a new Ssangyong cross over and well, you get the idea.

Before Chris Harris walks us round the Geneva motor show and makes lots of hilariously rude jokes, I’ll give you some of my own highlights from the show. I’m a huge fan of the Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg, and their two Geneva show cars were serious stand-outs. The Regera hybrid is an 1800hp rear-wheel drive monster which packs a 1080hp twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors which give a total of 700hp. A Bugatti Veyron takes around a minute to reach 248mph (400km/h), this car takes less than 20 seconds. It’s completely nuts. Less extreme is Koenigsegg’s Agera RS, a lightweight track version of the standard 1080hp Agera. Other highlights include the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Cayman GT4, Audi R8 and its GT3 race car R8 LMS cousin, and curiously, the new Skoda Superb.

    Lamborghini Aventador SV LP750-4 revealed

    Lamborghini Aventador SV

The maddest and most powerful incarnation of the Lamborghini Aventador supercar gets revealed at the Geneva motor show.

Lamborghini has revealed its maddest bull yet at this week’s Geneva motor show, the new Aventador LP750-4 SV. The SV is designed to be a harder, faster and more track-focused version of the standard 690hp Aventador V12 supercar. It uses the same 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, but revisions to its variable valve timing system and exhaust mean the engine in the SV develops 740hp. That’s enough to slash the standard car’s 0-62mph time from 2.9 seconds to 2.8 seconds and extend the top speed beyond 217mph. The new engine also revs higher, and with a new exhaust system, should sound even naughtier than the stunning ‘ordinary’ Aventador.

The SV uses the same seven-speed automated manual gearbox and all-wheel drive system as the standard Aventador. The supercar’s lightweight carbon fibre monocoque is also used, however thanks to a stripped interior and lightweight body components the Aventador SV weighs around 50kg less than the standard 1575kg car. There’s less sound deadening in the cabin and carbon-backed bucket seats upholstered in a unique carbon-fibre fabric.

The suspension has also been modified to incorporate adaptive dampers which are said to reduce dive under braking and body roll. The SV also features carbon ceramic brakes and new centre-lock alloy wheels measuring 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear. Tyres are extra sticky Pirelli P Zero Corsas.

The SV also gets a manually adjustable rear wing to give extra down force, which is helped by a more aggressive rear diffuser. A new front bumper also features with extra air ducts for improved engine cooling.

New Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed

    2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

New ultra hard core Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed with PDK gearbox and 4.0-litre flat six at the Geneva Motor show.

Porsche has revealed its new hardcore track-focused 911 at this year’s Geneva motor show. As with the standard GT3, the RS is PDK-only meaning there will be no manual gearbox option.

However, unlike the standard GT3, the new model is powered by a new 4.0-litre flat six engine based on the standard 3.8-litre unit. It develops a substantial 496hp, matching the old limited-edition 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 from 2012.

    2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

    2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The track-tuned model is quicker than the standard GT3, capable of hitting 62mph in 3.3 seconds compared to the standard car’s 3.5 second time. While 0-124mph takes a shade over 10 seconds – it’s supercar fast.

The RS also adopts the wider Turbo body shell instead of the Carrera 4 shell used by the GT3, meaning it has a significantly fatter stance. Despite the wider body, the RS is actually around 10kg lighter than the 1430kg GT3.

Visually, the RS is obviously a more serious beast than the ‘ordinary’ GT3. It sits lower, and on wider wheels and tyres while an aggressive aerodynamic package gives it a race car-like appearance. At the front there’s a larger splitter and cooling ducts over the front wheel arches to reduce front axle lift at high speed. At the rear – you’ll have no doubt noticed – is a massive rear wing that looks like it has been plucked from the track-only 911 GT3 racer. The roof has also been modified to incorporate a ‘double-bubble’ to reduce weight and improve the aero efficiency of that rear wing.

Because the RS uses a Turbo shell, it also gets a pair of air intakes ahead of the rear wheel arches – presumably necessary to stop the engine catching fire like another certain GT3 model…

    2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

    2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Inside, the RS gets the same lightweight carbon-backed seats as the 918 Spyder Weisach Pack, and a new steering wheel which it shares with the Cayman GT4, also shown at Geneva.

Porsche claims the new GT3 RS can lap the Nurburgring in around 7 minutes 20 seconds, or about 15 seconds quicker than the standard car.

Dubai police show off supercar fleet (VIDEO)

    Dubai police

Dubai police hits the streets in its supercar fleet, including a Bugatti Veyron and Nissan GT-R, in viral video.

It’s well documented that the Dubai police force doesn’t patrol in the usual fleet of low-powered inexpensive poverty mobiles. Instead of the usual rubbish, the Dubai cops cruise the luxurious city’s streets in some of the fastest and coolest supercars in the world, including a Nissan GT-R, McLaren 12C, Ferrari FF, G63 AMG and Bugatti Veyron. Originally it was thought that the police Veyron was a photoshopped fake, but this latest video posted on the Dubai force’s Youtube channel, proves that it is actually completely legit. The video is a bit of showing off from well-funded Dubai rozzers, but is a rather cool bit of filming that shows a heap of very fast and expensive supercars roaming the streets of a rather cool city. It almost looks like a trailer for a cool car movie. Check it out.

Full length Furious 7 movie trailer launched (VIDEO)

    Furious 7 trailer

New trailer for seventh instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise, Furious 7, show’s Paul Walker’s last scenes.

As it turns out, the Furious 7 trailer shown during the Superbowl earlier this week was just a teaser for this latest three minute long theatrical trailer which is jam packed with crazy physics-defying stunts, angry cars, many explosions and intense one-liners.

The cast of the seventh installment in the Fast and Furious movie franchise includes all the usual suspects including Vin Diesel as ‘Dom’ and the late Paul Walker as ‘Brian’, while The Rock returns and British action hero Jason Stratham stars as the villain of the movie playing the character ‘Ian Shaw’ who is the brother of ‘Owen Shaw’ who was killed in Fast and Furious 6 by Dom and The Rock’s character.

From what we can tell, the movie will kick off from where Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift ended, as it’s Stratham’s character who is responsible for the death of Han – incase you’ve forgotten his mint Mazda RX-7 drift car was tee-boned in Tokyo Drift while being chased by the Japanese mafia.

Despite the connection with Tokyo Drift, the latest movie is expected to use Abu Dhabi as its main film location which will play host to a number of physics-bending action scenes, including one where Dom crashes a supercar through one sky scraper and into another… Watch the trailer and you’ll get what I mean.

    Furious 7 Superbowl trailer (VIDEO)

    Furious 7

New Furious 7 movie trailer drops at the Superbowl ahead of the movie’s launch on April 3.

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about the upcoming Furious 7 movie, but the release of an awesome new trailer at this week’s Superbowl seems like a good enough reason. Set to premier on April 3, the new movie takes off where Fast 6 left off and ties in the Tokyo Drift film which, until this newest addition to the franchise was announced, has seemed like a the weird child in the family that didn’t really belong. It’s taken twelve years, but soon we will actually learn what the point of Tokyo Drift was – apart from a kickass movie with lots of tasty drift cars.

From this latest trailer it looks like much of the explode-y action scenes will take part in Abu Dhabi, as there’s a handful of exotic Arab-plated supercars in the trailer including a McLaren 12C, Ferrari 458 and Bugatti Veyron. There’s also one other supercar in the video that you’ve probably never heard of before. It’s extremely rare, crazy expensive and built in Dubai. Called the Lykan Hypersport, it costs a whopping $3.4 million and boasts a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat six engine from Porsche tuner RUF – who are they? They’re a reputable German company that builds the wildest, fastest and most extreme Porsches. And the car (supposedly) gets crashed through two sky scrapers – I think we can presume some CGI was used.

    Check out the new trailer.

    Porsche Cayman GT4 revealed

New Porsche Cayman GT4 revealed with a manual gearbox and all the Porsche Motorsport goodies ahead of the Geneva motor show.

Oh how the Porsche purists wept when the execs announced the new 911 GT3 would no longer be available with a manual gearbox. They wrote angry letters, held protests and it seems Porsche heard the calls to keep the manual gearbox loud and clear. Still, the GT3 remains PDK dual-clutch auto only. Sigh… But, Porsche has today announced a new motorsport model that is manual only – it’s called the Cayman GT4.

    2015_porsche_cayman_gt4_overseas_01-0204-m-610x450

There has long been rumors that Porsche held back the Cayman sports car because it didn’t want its entry-level sports car being faster than the iconic and more expensive 911. Now though, it seems that Porsche is fully exploiting the performance advantages its little mid-engine monster has over the bigger rear-engine 911.

The new GT4 uses the bigger 3.8-litre flat six from the 911 Carrera S, developing 380hp, rather than the 3.4-litre engine from the existing Cayman S and GTS variants. That’s still 20hp down on the standard Carrera S – which means the Cayman effectively has a detuned version of the 911’s engine, so there’s still some favoritism going on. The Cayman’s standard six-speed manual gearbox is used and the 0-62mph sprint takes 4.4 seconds.

The GT4 isn’t just a Cayman with a bigger engine. The car has been completely reengineered, according to Porsche. The standard bodyshell has been strengthened for increased stiffness and rigidity, the whole car sits 30mm lower than the already-very-low GTS, and most of the suspension has been changed for Porsche motorsport parts. The GT4 uses the bigger 911 GT3’s front axle and suspension while the rear suspension features new forged aluminium wishbones. The dampers are from the GT3, as is the electric power steering system, though new software has been added.

    2015_porsche_cayman_gt4_overseas_04-0204-m-610x450

As you’ve probably noticed, the aerodynamics of the Cayman have also been altered with track work in mind. At the front there’s a more aggressive bumper which incorporates a large splitter, while a big lairy wing sits on the rear deck lid. Porsche say the Cayman produces just as much down force as the GT3 – 100kg at speed.

Despite its larger engine, the GT4 weighs exactly the same as the 350hp Cayman GTS – 1340kg without fluids -, while customers can delete items like satnav and aircon to reduce weight further or option lightweight carbon fibre seats. Stopping power is supplied by standard steel brakes, though carbon ceramic items can be specified.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 will make its public debut at the Geneva motor show next month and go on sale towards the end of this year.

Jeremy Clarkson to sign three year deal with Top Gear

    Top Gear

Rumour has it Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will continue to make Top Gear for at least another three years.

It’s been quite a controversial past twelve months for the world’s favorite car show Top Gear, though the show must go on according to British newspaper the Mirror.

The controversy started when a video which allegedly showed Clarkson mumbling a racist term was leaked, fuelling calls to sack Clarkson and axe Top Gear. Then there was the whole Argentina episode with the offensive number plate which Top Gear and its hosts still claim wasn’t done on purpose as a poor attempt at humor. And of course, there’s always the ecomentalists – as Clarkson calls them – who want the show stopped because burning fuel, tyres and the occasional caravan in the name of entertainment just isn’t ethical, apparently.

But despite these recent occurrences, Top Gear is still the BBC’s most profitable show and much of its success comes down to the three hosts so the executives will do anything to keep it going for as long as possible. And that means Top Gear should be around until at least 2018 if speculation that all hosts are in the process of signing on with the show for another three years is true, which is excellent news for anyone cars or who enjoys watching fat middle-age men fall over and drive around…

An evening with Top Gear – series 22 preview (VIDEO)

    An evening with Top Gear

Missed the An Evening with Top Gear series 22 preview with Clarkson, Hammond and May? Fear not, we have the full video here.

Top Gear are really sprucing up their new series, which will begin this Sunday. There have been several trailers, including that hilarious Lego video, and a couple of days ago the three hosts got together with a slightly annoying talk show host to banter, answer questions from fans and discuss the upcoming series. The whole thing went for nearly an hour and was live streamed across the world on Youtube. Problem is, some countries weren’t allowed to see it live, or due to time zone science it was shown at some ridiculous hour of the morning.

However, the whole video has since been uploaded to the Top Gear Youtube channel so anyone with access to the Internet can see what unfolded at the Evening with Top Gear show and get a glimpse at some of the films that will be part of the show’s 22nd series and Hammond stranded on a freezing cold Canadian mountain….

New Ford GT supercar startup and revs (VIDEO)

    New Ford GT supercar

Listen to the new Ford GT supercar startup and rev at the 2015 Detroit motor show.

Ford wowed crowds at the 2015 Detroit motor show when it unveiled its new Ford GT supercar – a mid-engine successor to the 2005 Ford GT and the GT40 Le Mans winning racecars from the late 1960s. The car features a carbon fibre intensive structure and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with rear wheel drive but perhaps most surprising is that the GT does not have a V8 engine. Instead, Ford is using the new halo supercar to leverage its Ecoboost engine technology, meaning the GT is fitted with a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which develops over 600hp. A similar Ecoboost motor is fitted to the new F150 Raptor, which also made its public debut in Detroit this week.

Naturally, some people may be worried that the V6 engine won’t be able to match the character and sound of the supercharged V8 used by the old GT. But this video proves that while the new GT doesn’t sound like a bent eight, it does have it’s own unique sound that should still be appealing to enthusiasts. Not only does the turbo motor sound angry and obviously performance focused, there’s some brilliant turbo whirs and whistles to accompany the six-cylinder snarl.

Check out the video below to hear the Ford GT come to life and rev, curtesy of Youtuber Subaruwrxfan.

    Top Gear Lego trailer

The new Top Gear season 22 trailer has landed and it’s in Lego – check out the hilarious viral video here.

The new season of Top Gear kicks off this Sunday in the U.K, and Clarkson, Hammond and May have today revealed a quick teaser of the new series. However, it’s not the usual preview video with exotic supercars going sideways, caravans exploding and slightly fat middle-age men falling over. This time, the Top Gear series preview video was made with animated Lego characters with voiceovers by the three hosts. And, while that means we can’t tell you much about what’s coming in the new series, it is thoroughly entertaining – which is still a clue of some sort…

Check out the hilarious video below.

And if you click HERE you’ll get a look at some of the stunts, adventures, road tests and general anarchy we can expect from Top Gear in the coming weeks.

    Burnout world record

New burnout world record set at Australia’s Summernats festival of horsepower.

Australia is known for a couple of things – being populated by convicts, housing many dangerous animals, and having a strong hatred for tyres. Burnouts are in the Australian blood.

The Aussies already held the world record for the most cars simultaneously doing burnouts, but on new year’s day 2015 they broke the pre-existing record as 103 cars turned rubber into smoke in the capital of Australia.

    New baby McLaren supercar rendered

    McLaren Sports Series render

Upcoming Porsche 911 and Audi R8-rivalling Sports Series McLaren supercar gets rendered.

McLaren will soon launch a new supercar to sit below the existing 650S and P1 models. The new model, which will be part of the ‘McLaren Sports Series’ range of vehicles, is less powerful than the 650hp 650S but more usable say McLaren and it will be a rival to Audi’s R8 and high performance variants of the Porsche 911.

Though the new McLaren supercar won’t be revealed for another few months, McLaren itself has revealed a string of teaser images, while spy photographers have snapped the car testing in Europe. Using this imagery, Marc Antar has electronically created what he believes will be the new baby McLaren and it looks pretty accurate, too.

    McLaren Sports Series teaser image

    McLaren Sports Series teaser image

The rear of the new model expected to be called 500S – a reference to the car’s 500hp power output -, will be inspired by both the P1 and 650S models with a rear-bumper and light assembly that is very reminiscent of the hybrid hypercar. Meanwhile the rear wheel arches and engine cover will be derived from the 650S, which the new model will share much of its mechanical make-up with.

However, the 500S is believed to use a longer engine cover to free up more space inside the cabin behind the occupants for luggage as the baby Mac will be positioned as a more everyday usable car. The new model will also feature a unique side-intake design similar to the P1.

The 500S will use a modified version of the 650S’ carbon fibre tub that is believed to feature narrower sills for easier entry and exit, while the car’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 will also be used – though detuned to around 500hp for this application. Coupe (pictured), spider and GT body styles are expected to be offered, along with more track-focused variants.

    2016 Audi R8 supercar rendered

    2016 Audi R8 render

Photoshop wizard renders new second-generation Audi R8 supercar.

With test mules already lapping the Nurburgring, it’s only a matter of time until we see the second-generation Audi R8 supercar. Though we may be getting an early glimpse at the new mid-engine R8 curtsey of Photoshop wizard Marco Van Overbeeke who recently released images of what he thinks the next Audi supercar will look like.

Using recent spy images as a point of reference, Marco has come up with a rather tasty-looking rendition of the new second-gen R8. The new model is expected to adopt sharper lines than the existing model with a squarer appearance similar to that of the recently launched third-gen TT sports car.

As shown in these render images, the new R8 is also expected to ditch the iconic side blades that made the original design so unique and appealing. Instead, the second-gen model is tipped to feature more conventional side intakes, though a contrasting blade may still feature.

    2016 Audi R8 render

    2016 Audi R8 render

At the rear things are once again tipped to become a lot sharper with bolder surfacing combined with squarer lines. The current car’s big circular exhaust tips are also expected to be replaced by the square items fitted to current prototype R8s.

In terms of mechanicals the new R8 will once again be based on the baby Lamborghini supercar. This time its platform is shared with the new Huracan rather than the old Gallardo, which means a carbon fibre and aluminum chassis and all-wheel drive. The V8 and V10 naturally aspirated engines are expected to carry over from the current R8 range, though not without a power boost. The new R8 V8 should at least be quicker than the recently revealed RS3 hatch which can crack 62mph in 4.3 seconds, while the V10 will be in the low three second range.

Old guy wants a Lamborghini supercar with cat badges (VIDEO)

    Lamborghini supercar prank

Old guy tries to get a good deal on a Lamborghini supercar by taking off all the unnecessary equipment in hilarious prank video.

You’re old, retired and looking for a new toy to cruise the streets in. Only problem is, modern supercars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and McLarens all come with lots of stuff a pensioner doesn’t really need. Like a big powerful engine, special paint, chrome exhaust pipes and airbags…. If you got the dealer to remove all these useless items then the car would be more affordable, right?

Another problem with supercars is that they’ve all got showy badges that shout ‘midlife crisis’. And why would you want a badge with a prancing horse or raging bull on it, when the animal you really like is cats?

This prank video sees a guy acting as an old bloke – that’s maybe losing his marbles slightly – try to get a good deal on a Ferrari and Lamborghini supercar in the most unusual of ways….

Tesla Model S destroys Ferrari in street race (VIDEO)

    Tesla Model S P85D

    691hp Tesla Model S P85D embarrasses a V12 Ferrari 575 in a street race.

What ever happened to the phrase ‘there’s no replacement for displacement’? Well, the techno-wizards from Tesla completely rewrote the rulebook with the 416hp BMW M5-rivalling Model S P85 electric car. That game-changer is rear-drive only, but now Tesla has launched an all-wheel drive version with a thumping 691hp – the same as a Lamborghini Aventador.

The Tesla Model S P85D will sprint to 62mph in a scarcely believable 3-ish seconds and can absolutely haul arse. And it doesn’t emit any nasty atmosphere-polluting chemicals or make any real noise. It’s also incredibly luxurious with an interior that the Back to the Future movie directors couldn’t even have imagined. It really does it all. Relentlessly quick, environmentally friendly with unbelievable tech and design from such a young company.

The best thing though, is that it’ll worry most supercars and make mince-meat out of a 508hp V12 Ferrari 575. Here’s video evidence of that.

Porsche 918 Spyder vs Koenigsegg Agera R (VIDEO)

Porsche 918 vs Koenigsegg Agera R

What will come out on top in this high-speed hypercar battle – new hybrid tech or raw horsepower?

These are two of the fastest production cars in the world right now. Producing over 2000hp combined, both will hit 62mph in under 3 seconds and do well over 200mph flat out.

The Porsche is arguably the more technologically advanced car with its unique hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive system. The rear wheels are driven by a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 that revs past 9000rpm and features electrical assistance to give extra low-end torque.

The front wheels are also connected to an electric motor which gives all-wheel drive capability. Combined output is 887hp, and weight is a relatively heavy 1640kg with the Weisach Pakcage that is fitted to the car in this video.

Porsche’s hybrid hypercar can also run in silent zero emissions full-electric mode for up to 12 miles.

The Koenigsegg is different, it has no electric mode. It has no electric motors to speak of, just an 1140hp 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that seems like it escaped from a mental hospital. Like the Porsche, the Agera R is all carbon fiber, but because it doesn’t have to lug around heavy batteries it weighs 1435kg.

On paper at least, it would seem the Swedish Koenigsegg should embarrass the German Porsche 918 in a straight-line drag race. In practice, well, watch the video. And remember, Koenigsegg’s new car – the 1360hp One:1 – is even faster than this Agera R…

These guys wrapped an Audi R8 in Christmas paper (VIDEO)

    Audi R8 Christmas Wrap

Supercar owner gets into the Christmas spirit with a unique Audi R8 custom wrap.

Vehicle wraps are a great and inexpensive way to customise a car. They’re completely reversible, and the possibilities in terms of material and colour are almost endless.

Some people permanently wrap their cars either to protect the vehicle’s standard paint finish or to completely change the colour of the car. Others do it for special events like the Gumball 3000 rally to help their cars stand out in a field of colourful exotic supercars.

However, we’re not sure anyone has ever wrapped their car specifically for Christmas. With Christmas wrapping paper…

That’s what two British car nuts did with a V10 Audi R8 supercar using cello tape and some supermarket-grade wrapping paper.

The results were surprisingly professional, and certainly unique. Obviously the next thing to do was dress up as Santa Claus, drift around an abandoned round-about and film it for Youtube.

    Here’s that bit

Ferrari FXX K on track in Abu Dhabi (VIDEO)

    2015 Ferrari FXX K

Limited edition 1035hp LaFerrari based Ferrari FXX K race car laps Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit.

Before Ferrari officially announced its race-car version of the LaFerrari hybrid hyper car, rumours speculated that the model would ditch the V12 engine for a modified version of Ferrari’s 1.6-litre turbo V6 Formula One motor.

Were glad those rumours turned out to be false and a naturally aspirated V12 remained at the heart of the FXX K, because not even the latest F1 cars can match the aural lunacy pouring from the exhaust pipes of the latest V12 racer from Maranello.

Combined power output from the musical V12 with electrical assistance is 1035hp – 72hp more than the LaFerrari -, weight is down thanks to a bare-bones interior, and those odd-looking dual rear wings help the FXX K produce 50 per cent more downforce than the car it’s based on.

Now, listen to it turn petrol into rather loud noises – it’s FxxKing fantastic (yes, we went there).

5,000-HP, 348-MPH Devel Sixteen Spotted In The Wild: (VIDEO)

5,000-HP, 348-MPH Devel Sixteen Spotted In The Wild: (VIDEO)

While there’s plenty of reason to doubt the factuality of the Devel Sixteen’s claims of 5,000 horsepower, we now know, at the least, that it’s not total vaporware. It has been spotted out and about on a beach near Dubai.

ALSO SEE: Darth Vader Hot Wheels Car Gets 526-HP Chevy V-8, Sinister Design: Video

The oddly shaped, somewhat ungainly, and clearly hand-built Devel Sixteen not only runs and drives, it sounds pretty healthy, too.

To our ears, it’s no 5,000-horsepower megawatt power plant, however. If anything, it sounds like an aggressively built normally aspirated Chevy LS-series V-8. That could mean as much as 700 horsepower on a big cam build, maybe a bit more. But that’s a far cry from 5,000 hp, even if you factor in enough nitrous oxide to power the entire Fast & Furious movie series.

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Delivered In Germany (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

The first of Lamborghini’s stunning, over-the-top Veneno Roadsters has been delivered to a customer in Frankfurt, Germany. These photos show the car, painted in a liquid gloss black with matte gray and bright red accents.

Undeniably extreme in its design, the Veneno Roadster is not for everyone. Futuristic road-going jet fighters are, by nature, not everyone’s cup of tea.

This owner, however, is likely to be the envy of many, as only 9 of the Roadsters will be built and sold for private use. Collectors, Lamborghini fans, and kids with posters on their walls the world over will merely have to look on and wish, while this lucky German will get to experience the real thing.

    GTA Spano Supercar Flames

A rare yellow GTA Spano used in the recent Need for Speed movie burst into flames the other day in Spain.

Reports suggest that there is no real reason to why the GTA Spano caught fire near the GTA Motor’s factory in Valencia. Unfortunately, the entire supercharged 8.4-liter V10 supercar is beyond repair due to the intense nature of the fire.

Official Details On The $4.2 Million Ferrari F12 TRS (VIDEO)

    ferrari-f12-trs

Ferrari has chosen to limit the number of cars it builds each year to just 7,000 units but to increase revenues the company is offering more personalization options, ranging from unique trim elements in the cabin right up to unique, coachbuilt cars. The latter option is offered through the ultra-exclusive Special Projects program, aimed at Ferrari’s most loyal customers, and the results of the program are stunning one-offs like this latest Ferrari F12 TRS. It made its debut last week during the annual Ferrari Cavalcade driving tour, which this year took place in Sicily.

Based on the F12 Berlinetta, the car was developed at a client’s request as an extreme, two-seater, open-top sports barchetta. One of the initial inspirations for the project was the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. In fact, the F12 TRS is Ferrari design chief Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Style Center team’s modern, innovative take on that legendary car’s spirit and pays homage to it in the “TRS” part of its title.

Though previously thought to feature a KERS-style hybrid system, Ferrari has confirmed that the F12 TRS features the same powertrain and performance specs as the stock F12 Berlinetta on which it’s based. This means power still comes from a 6.3-liter V-12 engine tuned to deliver 729 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque. This ensures 0-62 mph acceleration in just 3.1 seconds and a top speed in excess of 211 mph.

ALSO SEE: Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Revealed, Likely Hints At R36 GT-R

As for the design, from the leading edge of the typically sharp Ferrari nose, aggressively sculpted forms flow back over the hood, while a low, wraparound windscreen forms a long dark band of glass in contrast to the car’s body. The engine’s signature red cylinder heads are visible through a window in the hood, while the aerobridge that normally sits above the rear fender on the F12 Berlinetta is now gone, allowing for the open-top design of the car.

    ferrari-f12-trs

At the rear, designers have added an evolved version of Ferrari’s T-shaped graphic that characterizes the F12 Berlinetta’s standard tail. A smooth ramp runs from the central tunnel too, linking interior and exterior and creating a longitudinal aerodynamic channel to deliver an innovative Venturi effect completed by a vent under the spoiler.

Inside, a minimalist look was adopted. Even some of the controls for the likes of the air conditioning, for instance, have been cut back, while the glove box, central air vents, mats, audio system, window controls have all been removed. Trim materials include carbon fiber with a matte finish, leather and Alcantara.

MUST SEE: Sleeper Crown Vic Sure To Give Other Motorists Nightmares

The cost of the F12 TRS is believed to be close to $4.2 million. While the price may seem exorbitant, especially considering it’s about triple the asking price of Ferrari’s LaFerrari flagship, it is in line with what previous Special Project cars have cost. Interestingly, another Special Projects car was revealed just weeks ago. Also based on the F12 Berlinetta, the car is called the Ferrari SP America and is thought to feature a removable targa-style roof.

The Ferrari Cavalcade where the F12 TRS made its debut is a driving event for Ferrari owners from around the world. The first event was held in Emilia Romagna in 2012 and last year participants enjoyed a tour of the most spectacular parts of Tuscany.

Tushek TS 600 Supercar Makes A Sensational Debut

    tushek-ts-600

After showing the Tushek TS 600 supercar for the first time at the 2014 Top Marques Monaco, the company behind the car, Tushek & Spigel, has now released the first promo video, giving us a taste of the engine note and road presence.

MUST SEE: Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Revealed, Likely Hints At R36 GT-R

Tushek & Spigel is yet to release full details on the Tushek TS 600 but the company says the car has a power to weight ratio of 1 horsepower for every 3.55 pounds of weight. The company also says the car weighs 2,470 pounds, which would make its output about 695 horsepower based on the promised power to weight ratio.

    tushek-ts-600

All you need to know is that the car is fast. Given the specs, owners should expect 0-60 mph times in about 3.0 seconds, assuming the Tushek TS 600 gets enough traction.

Tushek & Spigel plan to start production later this year and will be limiting the run to just 60 cars, split evenly between a road-going model and track-only ‘Pista’ version with an additional 50 horsepower on tap.

Meet The Bugatti Legend Black Bess (VIDEO)

    Bugatti Black Bess

“Fearless pioneers who defined the laws of physics in the air and on ground.”

French aviation pioneer Roland Garros was one such pioneer, who chose the original Bugatti 18 “Black Bess” so he could travel as fast on land as he could fly in the air. The Black Bess was the first ‘super’ sportscar in history and one of the fastest of its time.

Bugatti has revived the legendary Type 18 as in this Bugatti Legend Black Bess Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.

Only three Black Bess Legends will be built, each priced at $2.9 million.

One hell of a price but considering all the ‘Legends’ series have been sold, we suspect the will build more.

Are Car Tattoos The Next Big Trend? (VIDEO)

MUST SEE: Dubai Police Cars Are The World’s Fastest: Video

Tattoo artist Aleksy Marcinow made the jump from skin to steel at the London launch of this year’s Gumball 3000 Rally. Or rather, carbon fiber–as Aleksy’s canvas was a Gumpert Apollo supercar. German the Gumpert may be, but Marcinow took inspiration from Japanese art and traditional irezumi tattooing on his two-week project.

    Screen Shot 2014-06-13 at 16.32.29

Aleksy Marcinow’s tattooed Gumpert Apollo on the 2014 Gumball Rally

The car was commissioned by Elo, LondonMotor Museum owner and founder.

Elo explains that Aleksy used the same technique to tattoo the car as he would a body, though it’s still not quite clear what this means.

As Aleksy’s video shows, there’s more than a little traditional car decoration in there, in the form of masking and painting.

DON’T MISS: 8-Yr-Old Son Promises Dad ’57 Chevy For 57th Birthday, Follows Through When Grown Up: Video

Call us old-fashioned, but we reckon car tattooing has been around for decades–it’s called pinstriping, and has been a near-essential part of any hot-rod build since hot-rodding existed. It’s not like there aren’t modern-day equivalents either–vinyl wrapping, anyone? Aleksy’s work is clearly impressive, but as far as tattooing goes we’ll stick to it on our guys and gals, thanks…

When McLaren Owners Meet Up, They Mean Business (VIDEO)

When you own a McLaren F1, you enter a small club. Just 106 examples were produced, and all became immediate prized possessions the moment they left the Woking assembly line. If you own and drive a McLaren F1, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll come across another example while out tooling around your local back roads.

That isn’t the case, however, when the McLaren F1 Owners Club decides to hold a get together.

Over the course of a few days, a relatively larger number of McLaren F1 owners and their amazing machines hung out and celebrated their road going rockets. Portions of the event were captured by YouTube user Carlo DeLucis. This means there is video of the cars idling, parked, driving, and getting on the throttle. It’s the perfect mix of McLaren F1 car porn.

    Screen Shot 2014-06-03 at 16.55.28

We particularly love the shot on Day 2 (video below) with all cars lined up for photos. Also, we’re proud of these owners for not fearing the dirt roads they occasionally had to traverse. It may have been a puckering moment for a few, but it seems like everyone made the dusty portion of the trip just fine.

Not everyone could make the trip though, unfortunately. Remember that McLaren F1 we told you about that was in the violent accident? The owner and car were on their way to this gathering.

Awesome 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S Quick Drive (VIDEO)

    2014-aston-martin-rapide

The 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S is possibly the best four-door in the world.

It doesn’t quite top out the charts in many individual specs, but, as is so often the case with sports cars, the whole is greater than the sum of its 0-60 mph times and horsepower figures.

In fact, if you’re the type of person that can’t find something pretty close to supreme enjoyment piloting the Rapide S along a twisty road, we probably can’t be friends.

Why? Because beyond the 550-horsepower V-12 engine, the 190 mph top speed, the Bilstein adaptive damping system, and, of course, the four doors, lies the heart of gentleman’s sports car.

This isn’t a race-bred, fire-breathing, vertebrae-compacting demon; it’s a car that benefits from all of those lessons, but filters them through finishing school and a few decades in high society. It’s large, and it’s a bit heavy, but it’s surprisingly light on its feet.

    2014-aston-martin-rapide_100437368_l

In fact, in most ways, it feels every bit the sports car the two-door Vanquish does, but at the same time, the Rapide S is more refined and comfortable in everyday driving thanks to the more spacious cabin, longer wheelbase, and revised suspension tuning.

Steering feel isn’t a primary reward of driving the Rapide S, but it’s there, if muted. The brake pedal is almost annoyingly long and soft at all times, making pedal modulation difficult in sporty driving (but smoothing out low-speed parking lot maneuvers), and the button-operated six-speed automatic transmission is neither the most telepathic nor athletic slushbox on the market. But somehow, the car’s innate balance and poise strike a chord with the rumbling wail of the V-12’s mix of induction and exhaust noises. The result is two-metric-ton sports car that’s five metric tons of fun to drive.

Sure, the back seat is tight and the $199,950-plus price tag equates to a mortgage on a nice house in some parts of the country, but those are, ultimately, irrelevant facts. Those lucky enough to be able to afford a Rapide S will not care.

    2014-aston-martin-rapide

Why? Look at it. The curves, the angles, those muscular haunches. The Rapide S experience is visceral even before you touch the car. It exudes automotive pheromones, quickening the pulse and dilating the pupils. It’s a sports car, with four doors. And it’s an Aston.

For a more detailed drive report, visit our 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S First Drive.

Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Black Bess Is the NEW “Legend”

    bugatti-legend-black-bess-veyron-grand-sport-vitesse

The penultimate edition in a series of six special edition Bugatti Veyrons honoring the most important people and cars that have shaped Bugatti’s history has been revealed ahead of a scheduled debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show on April 20. Part of the Les Légendes de Bugatti (Bugatti Legends) series, this fifth car is reminiscent of the famed Bugatti Type 18 affectionately known as Black Bess, which at one point was the fastest road car in the world.

    bugatti-legend-black-bess

The Type 18, built between 1912 and 1914, was one of the most important Bugattis of the pre-war era. It was powered by a 5.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivered close to 100 horsepower, which was enough to see it reach a top speed of 100 mph–a speed previously reached only on race tracks. This makes the Type 18 a legitimate forerunner for the Veyron, and is thus regarded as a Bugatti Legend.

    bugatti-legend-black-bess

The Type 18 known as Black Bess is one of three Type 18s still in existence. Only seven were built in total. The car was named after an English racehorse and is currently owned by Evert Louwman, who has it displayed at the Louwman Museum at The Hague in the Netherlands. He has allowed Bugatti to show the car in Beijing next week alongside the modern Bugatti Legend Black Bess Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.

    bugatti-legend-black-bess-veyron-grand-sport-vitesse_100463227_l

The exterior of the modern version features a carbon fiber exterior, painted black but with 24-carat gold accents. Inside, the car features leather trim on most surfaces, with a mixture of Beige and Havanna tones used. The steering wheel, in red, draws a clear reference to the historic Type 18 Black Bess. This accent has also been picked up and continued in the red decorative stitching on the outer bolsters of the seats and in the seat belts.

    bugatti-legend-black-bess-veyron-grand-sport-vitesse_100463232_l

As with all of the Bugatti Legends, no changes have been made to the mechanicals of the special Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, which means peak output from the car’s quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 remains at 1,184 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is limited to 233 mph, though we know the car is capable of hitting 254 mph–with its top down. The 0-62 mph run takes 2.6 seconds.

    bugatti-legend-black-bess-veyron-grand-sport-vitesse_100463230_l

Three Bugatti Legend Black Bess Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse supercars will be built, each priced at 2.15 million euros (approximately $2.98 million). Considering all of the previous Bugatti Legends have been sold, we suspect this one won’t last long.

Ferrari’s 458 Replacement To Be Turbocharged

    Ferrari 458 replacement
Ferrari has started work on the replacement for the 458 Italia, with the hardcore Speciale unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show thought to be the final version of the 458 and possibly the last of the automaker’s cars to be powered by a naturally aspirated V-8.
Yes, Ferrari’s 458 replacement is expected to adopt a twin-turbocharged engine, possibly with a V-6 configuration. The move is in response to tougher fuel economy and emissions regulations, but also due to competition from McLaren’s latest 650S and previous 12C, which have proven to be more formidable on the track than Ferrari’s 458 Italia and 458 Speciale (the McLarens’ twin-turbo V-8 mills are notorious for producing prodigious amounts of low-end torque).DON’T MISS: Teen Drives Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Into Texas Pool: Video

A test mule for Ferrari’s 458 replacement was spotted in northern Europe recently, but this was still in the very early stages of development. It is likely being used to calibrate traction and stability systems; the mule was first spotted driving on a frozen lake.

Ferrari 458 Speciale, 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show

The new car it will eventually spawn won’t be a direct replacement for the 458 but rather a substantial update, meaning a common chassis. Ferrari did the same with the California’s transformation into the California T, and we saw something similar with the 458 Italia’s predecessor, the F430, which shared its chassis with its own predecessor, the 360 Modena.

With the 458 first hitting the scene in 2009, it’s likely we’ll see its replacement late next year.

Polish Supercar Arrinera Hussarya Revealed In Production Form

    Arrinera Hussarya supercar

Polish supercar startup Arrinera’s first product, the Hussarya, is nearing the end of its gestation, and soon production will commence at a new factory located in the city of Gliwice in southern Poland. The design of the Hussarya has evolved considerably since it was first shown as a prototype in 2011, as confirmed by these latest images depicting the production version of the car.

Speaking with Autovisie, a spokesperson for Arrinera confirmed that an official debut for the Hussarya in its production form would take place this year and that the company anticipates building around 100 units per year. Final pricing for the Hussarya is yet to be confirmed, though the company has previously suggested a starting figure of about $160,000, though we suspect this will be revised higher upon the car’s debut.

MUST SEE: 1966 Ford Mustang Meets A Volvo Wagon: A Marriage Of Convenience?

Responsible for the design of the Hussarya is Pavlo Burkatskyy, who worked closely with the engineering team in order to ensure the car not only looked good but was also functional. Among the engineers working for Arrinera is none other than British supercar stalwart Lee Noble, the founder of supercar brand Noble. He’s been recruited to help sort out the car’s chassis.

    Arrinera Hussarya supercar

Power in the Hussarya will come from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 delivering 650 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, with drive going to the rear wheels via an automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. The engine is being sourced from General Motors while Italy’s CIMA will supply the gearbox. Initial performance estimates are a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 11 seconds flat and a top speed of around 211 mph.

    Polish Supercar Arrinera Hussarya

The chassis, a mid-engine design, will be constructed mostly from high-strength steel. To keep weight down, the body will be constructed from composite materials, including–as an option–carbon fiber and Kevlar. A curb weight of just 2,900 is promised.

    Arrinera Hussarya supercar

For the interior, Arrinera promises all the luxuries one can expect in a modern supercar. Some of the options will include carbon fiber trim, a track package with racing seats and harnesses, and a night vision package.

Behind The Scenes At Supercar Startup Arash

Arash Motor Company is a supercar brand in the making. After a couple of failed starts, Arash has finally revealed a car that is destined for production and might just have what it takes to put the company on the map. The car is the AF8, a mid-engined, V-8-powered track weapon that’s also luxurious and civil enough to use a daily driver.

Recently, the guys at Shmee150 visited Arash’s headquarters in the U.K. and were able to get a personal tour of the site by Arash CEO and founder Arash Farboud. It’s easy to brush off Arash as just another supercar startup, but the passion, openness and humility demonstrated by its founder is rarely matched among automotive CEOs.

The video is well worth the watch in its entirety, especially because of the detailed explanation of how the individual parts for the new AF8 were designed. As a quick reminder, the AF8 will feature an output of 550 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque, drive the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and have a top speed of 200 mph or more. Arash plans to start production in about a year, with the cars to be hand-assembled at the rate of three per month.

As a bonus, the video above also shows some of Arash Farboud’s personal cars, which confirms he’s a true driving enthusiast. Among the lineup are a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Porsche Carrera GT.

The ‘Instagram Playboy’ Has One Hell Of Car Collection (PHOTOS)

    dan bilzerian-instagram-playboy

Dan Bilzerian. You may have heard the name? Or his nickname: the ‘Instagram Playboy.’

There is a hell of a lot of obnoxious showing off on Instagram but this guy takes it to a whole new level. In fact, he deserves the name ‘Instagram playboy’ due to his ridiculous lifestyle portrayed in his Instagram feed.

Dan Bilzerian driveway looks like a Dubai parking lot. His dinner table is full of topless beauties. In fact, if you look on his Instagram feed, everyday he is surrounded by topless models.

We’re here for the cars though! He owns countless toys: a mean 8 wheeled G Wagon, Lamborghini Aventador’s, a Bentley Continental and his prized possession is a rare aluminium AC Cobra with a SUCK IT license plate.

He may be a douchebag (self-proclaimed!) but he does have some taste when it comes to cars as you will see below.

Take a look at his ‘supercar lifestyle’ below and your jaw will be left hanging on the floor.

In between his board meetings, he bought this brand new Bentley.

No f**cks were given when he crashed his first Ferrari while on his first date.

Wondering where the money comes from? Bilzerian plays professional poker.

    He bets big.

    He wins BIG!

This is what his wire transfers look like.

    Apparently he thinks “#4WheelGwagonsAreForBitches”

    danbilzerian instagram
He also says things like this: “Thankful I’ve been blessed with all the #bigboytoys I also like big tits”

    dan-bilzerian-instagram
He’s chat doesn’t get any better: “While I’m more of a tit guy, I do appreciate a nice ass..”

Need For Speed: LAPD Adds Lamborghini Gallardo To Its Fleet

    lapd-adds-lamborghini-gallardo-to-its-fleet

Apparently it’s not just the Dubai Police force that has the best toys (although their fleet is insanely impressive). Los Angeles just stepped up its fleet game with the addition of a Lamborghini Gallardo.

This vehicle and its usage are a donation from Travis and Nathalie Marg, the owners of Light Source 1, which is a fiber optics company. The Gallardo will see use as a charity vehicle alongside the LAPD Air Support Team. Not a bad choice of wheels, since it’s one of a few vehicles that can keep up with the choppers circling in the sky.

MUST WATCH: 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO With N-Attack Package Tested At Fuji Speedway: Video

Looking rather evil with its police livery, the Gallardo serves as a rather excellent piece of charity show eye candy. No, it won’t be prowling the streets looking to put a quick end to high speed pursuits.

    lapd--lamborghini-gallardo

Instead, the vehicle will be used to put smiles on a few faces, and not much more. It’s a donation, so folks getting angry over a perceived big ticket item on the local budget should guess again. We imagine the LAPD is only spilling out a few bucks for gas with regards to this ride. It’s not Dubai, after all.

    lapd-lamborghini-gallardo

Still, we welcome the chance to try and run from it if the LAPD is up to the challenge. We’ll meet you at the defunct El Toro Marine base and run head to head. We play the baddies to your good guy crew. Check out more of the Lamborghini on the LAPD Lambo Instagram page.

Koenigsegg One:1 Supercar Comes With Cloud Connectivity And Custom App

Koenigsegg One:1 Supercar Comes With Cloud and App

These days developing the world’s premier supercar takes a lot more than simply ensuring you have the quickest acceleration or highest top speed or most outrageous styling. Today, supercar brands need high-tech interfaces and connectivity options just as much as they need horsepower, and one of the most advanced in this field is Sweden’s Koenigsegg.

Koenigsegg is presenting at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week its limited edition One:1 supercar, whose 1,340-horsepower output makes it the most powerful production car on the planet and potentially the fastest too. But the One:1 isn’t all about brute power as it also has a pretty sophisticated suite of electronic goodies.

ALSO SEE: Fifth And Final Pagani Zonda Revolucion Bows In Geneva

Working together with fellow Swedish firm Telenor Connexion, Koenigsegg is offering with its new One:1 cloud services, a web interface and an app for smartphones and tablets. The various services will enable owners to remotely track their car, its fuel level and battery status as well as access the latest software.

Koenigsegg, too, will be able to access the cars remotely, allowing it to optimize settings, install new software and monitor vehicle health all from its headquarters in Ängelholm, Sweden.

Some specific services, which are destined to be offered with future Koenigsegg models in addition to the new One:1, enables owners to get direct access to statistics such as recent runs, average speed, top speed, lap time, g force etc. They can also adjust the height of the rear wing, the firmness of the suspension, adjust the temperature, and even open the doors and windows.

“Our target market is demanding global customers who want the best-of-the-best,” Koenigsegg CEO and founder Christian von Koenigsegg said in a statement. “Telenor Connexion was the obvious choice for connecting our cars, with their broad and extensive experience in connected automotive solutions.”

Brabus: The Weird World of the European Luxury Aftermarket

Enter a world where too much power still isn't enough

Brabus is weird, but in a good way. It’s the single largest Mercedes tuner in the world, achieving that title after Daimler assimilated Mercedes-AMG into its affiliate network way back in the ‘90s. Since then, Brabus has expanded its reach outside the Mercedes empire; its latest creation is a Range Rover Sport that will definitely turn your head, if not snap it completely off.

Power is the single most important part of a Brabus car.

It’s technically a Brabus, as that is the company that built the kit, but it’s being marketed under the Startech name so as not to cause confusion about what Brabus is built to do. That doesn’t mean the company doesn’t enjoy side projects, although given the amount of add-ons for the Range Rover Sport, you can’t really call it a “side project.”

The biggest change to the Sport’s body is the inclusion of carbon fiber body panels. Once the fender flares are added to the new bodywork, the Sport gains over two inches of width, making it slightly narrower than the average studio in Manhattan. Body panels alone won’t change the look, though, so Brabus has gone and added 23-inch wheels with low-profile tires, a lowered suspension, and a big ol’ roof spoiler atop the liftgate. It looks like, well, it looks like a heavily modified, expensive European luxury car. Mission accomplished, then.

    Startech Range Rover Sport
    Startech Range Rover Sport
    Startech Range Rover Sport
    Startech Range Rover Sport

Oh, but wait. We almost forgot about the engine, otherwise known as Brabus’s most favorite thing ever. On the Sport, a mild ECU upgrade brings an extra 31 horsepower and 59 lb-ft to the twin-turbo diesel V-6 underhood. If you look at the history of Brabus as a company, you’ll see what we mean by “most favorite thing ever.”

Power and torque are very, very important to Brabus. The company’s goal is, and always has been, maximizing engine performance through upgrades out the wazoo. Whether it’s the same engine that came with the car, or one that Brabus decided to shove in there instead, power is the most important part of a Brabus car. Of course, the company also deals with exterior and interior aesthetic upgrades to further differentiate the vehicle; after all, if you’re paying unspeakable amounts of money to upgrade your already expensive car, you want it to stand out from the rest.

If you’re not a fan of the piecemeal method, you can buy an entire car from Brabus instead. Brabus will order the car from Mercedes, overhaul it, and then send it right to your door. A number of its vehicles have broken street-legal speed records, mostly due to the insane amounts of power and torque surging to the wheels. Let’s take a look at a few of the more ridiculous ones.

The Brabus E V12 starts with a normal E-Class sedan, which is a fine car in and of itself. Then Brabus adds the twin-turbo V-12 motor from the Mercedes S65 AMG. Then Brabus completely changes the engine, giving it more power and torque than is necessary to operate an entire city block’s worth of cars. In its most current form, that leaves the owner with 780 horsepower and 1,100 lb-ft of torque. Only the truly insane will reach the E V12’s top speed of 230 miles per hour. You can also get it in coupe and convertible variants, because why not?

    Brabus E V12
    Brabus E V12
    Brabus E V12

If you think that was an exciting car, wait until you see its successor. The Brabus Rocket 800 starts with a standard 2011+ Mercedes CLS-Class and shoves yet another V-12 under the bonnet. In addition to the engine modifications, power is increased thanks to new turbo manifolds, new turbos, four intercoolers, and a free-flowing exhaust system. It produces about 800 horsepower (go figure, what with the name and all) and 1,100 lb-ft of torque, which must be artificially lowered to keep the transmission from exploding all over the ground.

Oh, and it meets the current EURO V emissions standards. Talk about leaving no stone unturned.

    Brabus Rocket 800

We clearly saved the best for last. If you thought the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 was the craziest thing you’ve seen this year, wait until you check out the Brabus 700 6×6. It takes the G63’s standard 5.5-liter V-8 engine and cranks the whole thing up to 15 (or at least, well past 11), with two new turbochargers contributing to the 700-horsepower output. The 6×6 itself is insane, but with Brabus power levels and an interior that would make George Soros feel poor, it’s so far north of insane that it’s almost back to the baseline of normal. Almost.

Struggling Bugatti Can’t Sell $85Million Worth Of Veyrons

Struggling Bugatti Can't Sell $85Million Worth Of Veyrons
There may be trouble brewing with the supercar specialists at Bugatti. The French brand shocked the world with the Veyron when it debuted in 2006, but at eight years old, the hypercar may be getting a little stale to its wealthy clientele. What’s worse, Bugatti insiders say a replacement is still years away.Bugatti planned an initial run of 300 Veyron coupes when it went on sale, but the introduction of the convertible added an extra 150 cars to the docket. Generally, its cars have been built to order, other than some of its show cars. In December, Bugatti confirmed that it had sold its 400th car. Now, there are still about 40 Veyron Grand Sports to find homes for, according to Bloomberg, which amounts to about 62.5 million euros ($85 million) in product.

Turbo Power: Meet The New Turbocharged Ferrari California T (VIDEO)

Ferrari has revealed its new, turbocharged California, the California T, which debuts next month at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and sees the Prancing Horse return to turbocharged power for the first time since the legendary F40 supercar of the 1980s. Yes, 2014 marks a new era for Ferrari, both on and off the track, and that era is one focused on efficiency as well as performance.

Ferrari has dropped hints about a return to turbocharged power for its road cars for several years now, explaining in the past that such a move was inevitable in a world of stricter emissions and fuel consumption regulations. And as we’ve seen with the LaFerrari hybrid, Ferrari has ruled out nothing in terms of technology as it works to keep high-performance a priority while reducing fuel consumption simultaneously.

    ferrari-california_turbocharged_engine
Ferrari hasn’t released full details on its new California T but the automaker has confirmed the car’s engine delivers 552 horsepower and a massive 556 pound-feet of torque. Better still, Ferrari says the engine has a torque curve that increases constantly across the rev range and delivers a soundtrack of an intensity never before achieved by a turbocharged mill.

The engine is an upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 used in the Maserati Quattroporte, which is actually built at Ferrari’s engine plant in Maranello. Compared to the former California’s naturally-aspirated 4.3-liter V-8, the engine in the California T is delivering 49 percent more torque but is using around 15 percent less fuel. EPA fuel economy will be released closer to the sales launch later this year.

Owners can expect 0-62 mph acceleration in 3.6 seconds and a top speed in excess of 195 mph. Stopping power comes from carbon ceramic brakes while aiding the handling are new springs and dampers. The car is still rather heavy, unfortunately, with the dry weight coming in at more than 3,500 pounds.

    ferrari-california_t

Rather than being a completely new model, the California T is an update of the current California, or “modificato” as they say in Italy. The retractable hard-top roof remains but the styling has been refined for the front and rear sections of the car, incorporating a mix of classic and modern touches.

The headlights are clearly influenced by the units on other contemporary Ferraris while the side, for example, gets the legendary 250 Testa Rossa’s famous pontoon-fender styling. Thankfully, the ugly exhaust tips and plastic decoration of the former California are now gone, replaced by a much more elegant solution. The cabin has also been modernized, with the key feature being a new infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display. The 2+2 seating configuration has been retained, though.

Stay tuned for the full reveal of the Ferrari California T at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 4.

English Boutique Automaker Arash Teases New Supercar (PHOTOS)

There is certainly no shortage of specialized carmakers in England, with new ones popping up all the time. Older names like Arash, the builder of the 220mph (354km/h), Corvette Z06-powered AF-10 mid-engine supercar, are also active, with the company today announcing a new model.

What we obtained from Arash are two teaser photos, one of which shows a sketchy outline of the car with the introduction date set for February 28, 2014, and the other, a crop of the carbon fiber steering wheel rim. That’s about it, so you’ll have to use your imagination for the rest…English Boutique Automaker Arash Teases New Supercar

Which Is the Best Bugatti Veyron Out Of These 3 Awesome Models?

    The Best Of Bugatti

    The Best Of Bugatti

The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most insane vehicles ever produced. The first version of the Veyron contained an eight-liter, quad-turbocharged W-16 motor, good for 1,001 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque, enough to power an entire village’s worth of Honda Civics. It’s one of the fastest vehicles ever built, and it holds the world records to prove it.

Sadly, we’ve reached the end of this era of excess. Bugatti will no longer manufacture new versions of the Veyron – once the current stock is gone, they’re done forever. Since we (and the auto community at large) will miss this warp-driven egg, we put together a list of the three coolest variants to ever grace asphalt:

    #3 –Grand Sport L’Or Blanc

The Bugatti Veyron L’Or Blanc is one of the most visually striking Veyrons on the road (or, probably, sitting in somebody’s garage). Bugatti teamed up with the Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin to create a single L’Or Blanc, which translates to “white gold.” The porcelain look covers the Bug both in an out, and it makes it look more like an expensive centerpiece than a full-on hypercar.

#2 –Jean Bugatti Vitesse Legend Edition

This is one of the rarer Veyron variants on the market, as only three Legend Editions were made. The whole point of the Legend Edition is to throw back to one of the most sought-after vehicles on the planet, the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. The body is black, and the interior is covered with beige and brown, both of which are aesthetic homages to the definition of old-school cool. To top it off, the gear lever is finished in rosewood. Fancy.

#1 – Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Car

If you think a standard Mustang GT Convertible is a fast drop-top, think again. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Car is a limited-edition Veyron that celebrates Bugatti’s capture of the world record for the fastest open-top production car. On Volkswagen’s test track in Germany, the Grand Sport Vitesse hit 254.04 miles per hour. And the orange paint gives the vehicle some loudness to match all that speed. Eight models went on sale for about two-and-a-half million bucks each.
