Top Viral Car Videos Of The Week – Episode 25

Alfa Romeo 4C First DriveIn this week’s Carhoots top ‘viral’ car videos; a Lamborghini Aventador gets split in two, Equus put a Corvette engine in a Mustang body (*gasps*), Chris Harris drifts the Alfa Romeo 4C, DTM race drivers test the new BMW M3 Saloon and M4 Coupe at the Nurburgring, and some chickens move around a bit.

Lamborghini Aventador Splits In Two During Brooklyn Crash

Imagine this for a moment; you’re driving your sexy Lamborghini Aventador down a Brooklyn street. Life is good with that 700hp 6.5liter V12 humming away behind your head, its acoustics enough to get you giggling. Bliss… When suddenly a total idiot in a crappy car drives into you, and your Aventador breaks into two pieces.

    lambo splits in two

Ouch. The Aventador’s rear sub frame is of course designed to break away in a crash to prevent any engine fires from harming the car’s occupants. Clever, that.

    Equus Bass 770

Old-school style, new-school technology – always a great combination. The Equus Bass’ body is designed to mimic the gorgeous lines of the ’68 fastback Mustang, its chassis is new, its interior bespoke (though reminiscent of the current ‘Stang), and its 631hp engine is from a, um, Corvette. “AW HELL NO!” shout the Ford fan boys…. Maybe this intense video will reassure them that it’s all OK. Then again, maybe not.

Mercedes-Benz TV: MAGIC BODY CONTROL TV commercial “Chicken”

Now, THIS, is how you create a car commercial without cars! It’s complete genius, no?

BMW M3 Saloon and M4 Coupe Race Driver Test At The Nurburgring

We know the BMW M3 and M4 specification details now, what we don’t know is how well the pair can carve up a racetrack. In this video BMW DTM racers, Bruno Spengler and Timo Glock, test M3 and M4 prototypes around the Nurburgring, and they seem quite pleased with the cars. But they would be, wouldn’t they…?

Alfa Romeo 4C First Drive, Road and Track. — /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS

It’s the car we’ve wanted Alfa Romeo to build for years. It’s not a stupid rebadged Fiat hatchback, it’s not front wheel drive either. It’s a proper rear wheel drive, mid engine sports car. And it is stunning. The spec sheet reads well, too. Carbon tub, 895kg dry weight, 237hp, 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds. But what’s it like to drive? Finally, we have the answer.

Top ‘Viral’ Car Videos Of The Week – Episode 15

Jaguar CX-75 PrototypeIn this weeks Carhoots top viral car videos; some boffins talk Jaguar CX-75, the RUSH movie featurette , XCAR drive the Morgan Aero Coupe and a Caterham Supersport, plus, we preview TopGear series 20. It’s a bit British this week.

    5. The Jaguar CX-75 Prototype

Veyron performance, the range of a Chevrolet Volt, and the CO2 emissions of a Prius. Quite simply, the Jaguar CX-75 is the most technologically advanced road car ever conceived. The CX-75 is a fascinating thing, it produces an astounding 500 plus brake horsepower from a 1.6liter petrol engine which is combined a pair of electric motors to deliver a total power output of over 800hp.

When the CX-75 was originally designed, Formula One was about to announce a change to four-cylinder 1.6liter engines (just like that Jag’s) but at the last minute they decided on six-cylinders because of the sound quality. Quite frankly, we reckon this CX-75 sounds epic, and in terms of engine design, it’s light-years ahead of anything else, including next years F1 cars.

I also love how in this video the Jaguar boffins talk about the CX-75 as though it was a bit of a wild mentalist that needed to be chained up in order to stop it from destroying everything (except the environment), but in the end became a hero. As you’d imagine, I could blabber on about the CX-75 for decades, but we must move on to….

    4. The RUSH Featurette

We’ve discussed this film on Carhoots before and it promises to be a stonking movie capturing the days of Formula One racing when it was all about Niki Lauda and James Hunt. When “sex was safe and driving was dangerous”. The film, directed by Ron Howard, uses quotes from the men themselves back when F1 racing was truly terrifying and a heroic art to really depict the era just as it was. We cannot wait to see the film in September.

    3. Morgan Aero Coupe: Street Theatre – XCAR

It’s a gorgeous thing to behold, people stare at it, they whip their camera phones out to photograph it, they drool over its voluptuous curves, they love it. And how could you not? The Morgan Aero Coupe is a stunning piece of British artwork, it’s classic but modern, it sounds like thunder, and is quite fast. And our buddies from XCAR Films got to drive it!

    2. British Grand Prix: London City Circuit or Silverstone? – XCAR

Yep, it’s another XCAR video, what can we say? They make awesome films about cars. This one takes a look at what could be the really awesome London City F1 Grand Prix circuit. What better car to drive along the suggested circuit than a Caterham Supersport?

    1. Top Gear Series 20 Launch Trailer

Incase you’ve been living under a rock, or in a cave, or on Mars, or in total oblivion; there’s a new series of TopGear commencing this Sunday (the 30th)! Here’s a taste of what’s in stall.

Singing At The Gas Station – Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’ Prank Goes Viral | (VIDEO)

    jay leno prank

If you haven’t seen The Leno gas station prank yet then here is your chance! It is what the world has been talking about all weekend as Will Sims and wife Monifa shoot to fame with their hilarious viral prank by the “Tonight Show.”

This wasn’t your standard visit to the gas station…After discovering that his “target” seemed like a good singer, the faux-host offered Sims a free tank of gas if he sang some karaoke well enough.

Sims said that he was an “80s kid” so he started singing Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” in the middle of this gas station. He was pretty amazing, too!

During the segment, his wife Monifa is seen cracking up in the passenger seat of their car, clearly aware of the prank that is happening to her husband. The anchor asks Will to bring his wife out for a duet but will responds, “Nah, I’ll leave her in there.”

As promised, the Sims get a free tank of gas, which prompts Will to sing the impromptu lyrics “livin’ on the gas!”

Monifa finally makes her way out and after a brief interaction with another gas station customer decides she is ready to sing. She wows Leno’s audience and the fake anchor with a rendition of “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics. Will even joins in after a few lines to make it a duet.

Leno couldn’t have had a better couple for this prank! Good singers, good dancers, great personalities and a great fun! This is absolutely awesome…

You can see why this has taken the Internet by storm this weekend can’t you? It certainly had us in stitches! Leno was so impressed he actually invited the Sims onto his show to let them sing, simply because they were an awesome couple…
