“Buy My Volvo” The Best Volvo Ad Ever? (VIDEO)

When you’re out of luck and have an old car you want to get rid of, what do you do? eBay? Stick it in the local paper? This guy chose to make his own hilarious advert.

And all that hard work appears to be paying off, as the video has gone viral.  It’s certainly one way to make a sub-par car enticing.

Touted as “a masterpiece of kinetic energy, of dynamics, and mechanics”, you’d have to be a fool to not consider buying his Volvo. The car is also  “sprung from the hands of engineering wizards from a bygone era”, which makes it pretty much a done deal.

Be sure to check the video out below; it could be the car for you.

Volvo’s New Rumoured Concept Model for Geneva Looks Like a Shooting Brake Coupe (PHOTOS)

Volvo's New Rumoured Concept Model for Geneva Looks Like a Shooting Brake Coupe (PHOTOS)

Volvo’s rumoured Geneva Motor Show unveil has got people talking and it has got people excited too. If this is it, it is going to be awesome.

    Carscoops say:
    We
know for a fact that, Volvo will complete its trilogy of concept cars that started with the Coupe in Frankfurt last year and continued with the XC Coupe crossover in Detroit, all sporting a fresh design language and based on the brand’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, with a new model at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The photos show a Shooting Brake Coupe model that appears to be based on the Concept Coupe, itself a modern take on the P1800. If true, the third study would pay tribute to the ES Shooting Brake version of the P1800 from the 1970s (see a virtually brand new example of that car here).

We’re told that the new concept study may be released as early as this weekend.

Some Guys Made Their Own $2 Million Lamborghini Out Of An Old Volvo

    russian lamborghini sesto elemento

Ever wanted your dream car but can’t afford it? How about one of the worlds most expensive cars, a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento? Well, you make one, of course. Using the latest materials? No, out of an old Volvo! Sure thing, because no one is going to be able to tell the difference. 😉

At least that’s what a group of men from Kyrgyzstan thought when they tried to make their very own ($2.9 million) Lamborghini Sesto Elemento hyper car.

For around $15,000 they made this Lambo using a 30 year old Volvo 740, wheels of a BMW X5 and whatever they could get their hands on. Sadly, they didn’t use real Carbon Fibre like the real Sesto Elemento, but again, guys can you really notice?

570 hp like the real thing? No, the real winner here is that you can’t get inside and drive it – they sadly missed all drive functionality out! Eureka!

2015 Volvo S60 And V60 Polestar Debut At 2014 Chicago Auto Show (PHOTOS)

    2015-volvo-s60-and-v60-polestar

Volvo’s S60 sedan and recently launched V60 wagon have just received some new performance variants from the automaker’s motorsport partner Polestar. The cars, labeled the S60 and V60 Polestar, make their global debut today at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

Polestar, which competes in various motorsport categories using race cars based on Volvo models, first made headlines back in 2010 when it launched a hotted-up C30 concept. The firm then released a follow-up in 2012, a 508-horsepower S60 concept, and hasn’t looked back since–it’s now launching on the market its first mainstream vehicles, which given their performance are comparable with Audi S and BMW M Performance models.

Built around the standard V60 and S60, the Polestar editions combine the safety and comfort customers expect from Volvo with numerous upgrades to make them the fastest factory Volvos in history. Starting with the chassis, upgrades include a more rigid structure overall, with new springs that are 80 percent stiffer than those available on the S60 R-Design.

High-performance Öhlins shock absorbers and 20-inch wheels round out the customized handling package. For greater stopping power, Polestar has included 14.6-inch ventilated front discs matched with six-piston Brembo calipers, and 11.8 inch ventilated discs at the rear.

The exterior–available exclusively in Black Sapphire or Rebel Blue–carry a number of aerodynamic elements borne directly out of motorsport. New front and rear splitters increase overall downforce and allow for more streamlined airflow, as do the new rear spoiler, diffuser and flat undertray.

The main focus, however, is the upgraded engine, which in U.S. specification has been confirmed to deliver 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which is available from just 2,800 rpm. The engine is based on the turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six found in the S60 and V60’s T6 trim but has had its ECU recalibrated, a new turbo and intercooler installed, and the airflow improved with a stainless steel sports exhaust system.

A six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and a Polestar-developed Haldex four-wheel-drive system are also featured. With the pedal floored, owners can expect 0-62 mph acceleration of 4.9 seconds for either model. Top speed has been limited to 155 mph. The curb weight comes in at 3,528 lbs for the S60 Polestar  and 3,790 lbs for the V60 Polestar.

Inside, owners are treated with upgraded seats, a sports steering wheel and Polestar badging.

The first 2015 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models should reach dealers this June. Only 120 examples are pegged for the U.S. market, which means availability will be tight. The all-important pricing information will be released closer to the sales launch.

Soccer Star Ibrahimovic Goes All ‘Bear Grylls’ In Daring Volvo XC70 Ad (VIDEO)

Volvo Cars is trying to follow in the footsteps of Volvo Trucks and strike it big with a commercial featuring a celebrity. Following Volvo Trucks’

immensely successful ad featuring Jean Claude Van Damme, which garnered 68.5 million views on YouTube, Volvo Cars has picked football star and Swedish national team captain, Zlatan Ibrahimovicm, for its latest commercial. It’s a daring ad, to say the least, as the “Made by Sweden” commercial features a new version of the country’s national anthem, with the lyrics composed by Ibrahimovic himself and the music by Max Martin.

Born in Sweden from a Bosnian father and a Croatian mother, the Paris Saint-Germain soccer star is shown driving a Volvo XC70, hunting, bathing in a frozen lake and spending time with his family while the voice-over (Ibrahimovic again) reads his interpretation of Sweden’s national anthem.
